Ce style est vraiment d'une grande pureté pour avoir eu la chance de pratiquer au Japon, au dojo de Sasamori Takemi Sensei et de l'avoir rencontrer. C'est dommage que ce style n'est pas pratiquer beaucoup en France.

Ceremony? Ono Ha Itto Ryu practitioners are human lawn mowers. They practice dueling to a fine art. We practice a few Ono Ha Itto Ryu techniques in my art. It's mean stuff. What you see is for demos only. What you don't see is the real stuff. It's the same reason why Navy Seals don't teach all that they know to other countries. What you understand you can know, what you know you can defeat. Never bash another art. It is not the art that makes a fighter. It's his knowledge of the art.

Katana's were made much like missiles, their power was in first strike capability. Missiles weren't made to fire back and fourth first one to launch wins. although you see it in anime and maybe old Japanese samurai movies blocking with the katana was much less common than striking because essentially the first one to land a deadly hit wins thus moves are slow and well thought out. That's how I understand it anyway I don't go to any fancy schools I just own a katana.

At first, the padding and wooden swords didn't concern me. But then, those two later come out with what looked like shiny, black wood, and I was thinking "What's with the black wood?" And then they unsheathed their swords and I was like "Oh shit!"

rakuen:Callisto! That is Iaijutsu or batto-jutsu. Itto ryu means you are weilding the sword with your 2 hands. Nitto is with one hand and nitten is weilding 2 swords with each hand

    1) As far is I know, you can not "learn" the ryu, but only "practice" in groups. Because the only person who teaches is the Soke himself. Worldwide. And he lives in Tokio, teaching in a church... My Sensei told me this on my first day, "we're only practicing, i don't teach!"....he said. 2) Those Onigote are so horrible to use, so stiff, so unflexible (when new) and so heavy.^ Itto Ryu is much more fun, when you're Shidachi,...^^

Demonstration needs kiai! Kinda weird and sterile without. @Simosayo- Katana are very much used to block and there are many techniques to do so. Several are seen in this video.

It's got nothing to do with Kendo. In kendo they may be forced by the rules to call where they attack, but all Kenjutsu schools I've seen so far, also use kiai as part of the kata. A nice kiai can intimidate your opponent and give you that little edge you may need.

It has a lot to do with Kendo since it is its prime ancestor. Well. here's Ono ha itto ryu, kenjutsu where kiai is not used. It may if an opponent is not a good fighter; or you yourself aren't one.
