The bounciness and the lack of air movement makes this feel more like Jump King than Only Up. Which, quite a fun twist!

That kaizo block was absolute perfection.

I think what's neat about his son learning the duck jump strat so easily is because he has no notion of how Mario is supposed to feel, and so he adapted quickly and tried things that more advanced players normally wouldn't. That's one of the reasons it's hard to balance games for new and old players, because they will do entirely different things, without really understanding how the other thinks.

Wait, I thought he was done with Climbing games after beating the Mario 64 in under 2 hours. Edit: On a side note, I've also had a moment where I've picked up a trick from somebody far less experienced then myself. I think it was the original Ultimate Ninja Storm for the PS3. In that game there is a mechanic where you can hold down a button to charge up your chakra bar, which you use like you would mana for abilities, if your health is low enough and you keep charging up your chakra bar while it is full, you will chance form into a higher form of your character. I had played this game for tens of hours and didn't know that was a thing, since you basically need to be losing for it to come into play, and you have to keep trying to charge up while you're already full. I just never thought to try it, until I played 1v1 against a younger kid who did it by accident. It likely didn't help that the game has a long story campaign that locks many of the transformations during it, since it wouldn't make narrative sense for them to appear.

Jump King had a good moment, but I don't think it got the copycat energy Only Up/Getting Over It is getting. It's kinda comforting this game is building around JK's mechanics more than OU. This build makes stairs scary.
