only slightly related, I love your use of chiptune Hard Times instead of just the Ice Cap Zone theme, such a good song! It adds such a good vibe to that part of the hack (Not to mention the fact that this is the most creative hack I've ever seen O_O but all the music choices here are too good not to mention)

@@iProxymoron It's the song the Ice Cap theme was based on! Would highly recommend checking it out, especially if you're a big fan of Ice Cap. There's also some pretty good mixes of the two out there.

For the ones that don't know, "QLDC" is "Quality level design contest" that SMWC hosted and I'm pretty sure this level won the contest. Not only for the creativity, but also for the trolling with the puns throughout the level but also the ending. All of that just for a fake bossfight into credits with intentional mistakes to annoy the player and then the "real submission" to the contest which is just hot garbo, enemy spam. Absolute perfect level and I think this will probably open a new genre of Mario Romhacks, if not entire romhacks then partly.

Also it looks like they give you only one life so when you inevitably die you can't retry the "real submission" until you go through the whole overworld thing again! It's genius.

The fact this has only one impossible level and it's more about the journey getting there.

The sunset being a watermarked stock photo along with the misspelled text does it for me

Rumor has it, if you stomp the ground you can glitch the overworld and get WR Speedrun....

easy to make the mistake, since Ice Cap was made using Hard Times by a member of the band that originally created it (and the fact that Hard Times didn't get a public release until decades later)
