    Hunter I understand your viewpoint. I dated an Army guy who was Air Borne and Special Forces. He loved killing people when he was on a Swat Team in some Asian country. He told me once if a man and a dog were placed side by side and he was ordered to Drop One he wud shoot the man in a heartbeat. He was heavy into bondage and having sex slaves, ( I found out later. He wasn't faithful) One day I went to his apartment and he proceeded to throw me to the floor and mash my face into the filthy carpet raping me from behind while saying "I can't stand looking at your face. You look like my mother" He raped me so violently I vaginally bled for a month. He had been horribly abused as a young boy and now his hatred of people manifested itself in hurting others. After that rape episode a light went on for me and I began therapy for being incested , first at age 4, again at age 10. Always having picked out severely emotionally abusive men for relationships. I hope over time that Time will heal your hurts. For me it took alot of therapy.

    I think most of these types of men who choose high pressure careers like military, paramedic, firefighter, surgeon, lawyer, & CEO tend to be on the side of callousness, coldness, disagreeable, & aggressive which is exactly why those men choose or are pushed into those career paths it’s a way to getting it handled and especially the military teaches you to care about others your country, your flag, your branch, & most importantly the men in the fox hole next to you

    Naval Academy graduate here (class of '99!); my brother-in-law is a Navy SEAL. We have talked about our Idoc experiences and there is a common theme: all challenges are designed to be solved with teamwork. You aren't expected to be able to do 200 push-ups, but you are expected to try, and to keep encouraging the person next to you even if you can't keep going. The goal is that you don't give up. Can't keep doing push-ups? Stay down there on your face, shouting your lungs out as you KEEP PUSHING anyway. Can keep doing push-ups? Yell encouragement at the person next to you who is struggling. I was a strong runner. When someone couldn't finish the 10-mile run, I ran back to them and jogged alongside them as they walked, jogged, or crawled their way to the finish line. All that matters is that we got there together. I'm not one of those people who advocates that everyone should go through military services (that's a TERRIBLE idea!), but the military does teach quite a lot of good life-lessons.

    Yes that was then. Unfortunately today it's sounding a lot like the current admin is promoting nothing but video games. No one is encouraging anything but a joystick to navigate planes and drones. What kind of military is that? I have no confidence in technology when we next have our lives in the hands of AI robots, video games, and computers. It's like a Skynet scenario from Terminator playing out. If it keeps going that path, Humanity is definitely doomed. We can't teach robots life lessons.

  • @JANEEDISTURBED

    @JANEEDISTURBED

    But don't get me wrong, I can see what purpose a drone would have. To send one out to map an enemy territory out precisely. Or to make sure unnecessary lives aren't lost haphazardly, for no other reason. But the training is the core of the mentality and building of character one already had, that just has to push it out of those who kept it hidden.

    I think once you've been through tough shit and experienced that you can handle that, everything else feels easy by comparison. I rarely get frustrated anymore, and I think it's because my life sucked really hard for half a decade and it was in many ways my fault. Once I got myself out of it, the normal problems of life seem so minor in comparison they're not even problems to me anymore they're just obstacles in the same way a tall curb you have to step onto is an obstacle. Sounds like your dad was at a way more extreme and impressive version of where I'm at.

After fighting to stay afloat for what seemed like hours, but was probably less than 10 minutes, I was exhausted and couldn't keep up anymore, and I started sinking. Something inside me screamed at me. It told me to keep fighting, that there was no reason to stop trying, that to stop meant death. Somehow, all my fatigue just melted away. I loved the part where they are talking about how the Super Soldier serum correpted everyone, except Steve Rogers, and even Zemo is like, "touche, but there has never been another Steve Rogers has there?" I was never good at sports or popular in school but there was this kid in my recruiting pool who had all state champ in front of every sport he did, captain of the football team, prom king fucking the homecoming queen. He was gunnys star poole, he quit after 10 days in boot. My recruiters took bets on how long I would last in boot, most agreed I'd make it 2 weeks, 4 years and two combat deployments as an infantryman later. It's what's in your mind and your heart not your muscles. There are those who slip through the cracks though lol.

Took 6 months to get a quota for me and he doubted I'd ever make it. Got the same thing from all my coaches back in high school too. Made it, graduated, went back to tell the recruiter I did it and he was just bitter about the whole thing. I had already learned to not care what ANYONE thought by then, so I just pity the guy for hating himself or whatever his deal was. Had a lot of guys like you described in MART (the prep school before BRC) come through making a big deal about their skills with weights or girls or whatever accomplishment you can think of as well. Oh my goodness honey I’m so sorry. I don’t understand either. Some say that some of them either catch evil or become evil or somehow can’t get rid of the devil within. I know that just allowing yourself to think a certain way about God can let evil inside. Most people don’t believe that a war is going on right now. It’s been happening since the beginning and It’s between GOOD & EVIL. It’s sad that any war is going on. God’s very real and Jesus is waiting for us all. Hell is real. I doubted God was real after I lost my dad and found out a month later my wonderful husband had the same type of cancer in the same spot. I ( thought to myself) God can’t be real or he wouldn’t let this happen to me. That night I dreamed I was about to fall into Hell. I could see it opening up underneath my bed because I could see a bright red glow getting brighter and brighter. I woke up and I could still see that red glow. Yes a dream can cause your heart to beat faster. Yes dreams can make you sweaty, but according to my eye doctor a dream can’t burn your eyes. My eyes were burnt as if I’d watched someone weld. Well if that wasn’t proof enough I’d forgotten to tell you what woke me up that morning. Someone was knocking on our door and I guess that’s what woke me, Believe it or not but it was my great uncle ( a preacher) ( a good man of God that had often been given visions and warnings for our family For the pasted 20-25 years he always used the phone, but he knew he needed to put hands on me. I seen him that morning and he only said- Teresa lynn I’ve drove all night to get to you. You have doubted God within your soul. Demons are circling you, but God’s showing you real things, What’s wrong with you? You were raised by my niece Mary Helen better than this. Come here and let’s pray them demons away and you’d better never doubt our lord again!! I was in shock!!! I NEVER told anyone what I’d thought that day before but God, my great uncle and the demons knew. 2 more times that same day God reached out to me. Crazy crazy things that just became more impossible for it to be anything but God. My husband got saved that next day and died shortly after. That was about 10 years ago and life’s not been easy. Our little daughter found out her daddy was dying on her birthday. I don’t know why that happened to you but I’m so sorry and Gods got us both. A show on KZread about people having NDE’s has eased my broken heart lately. I’m only now thinking of dating again. Some say I’ve grieved to long but he was my soulmate and he suffered a lot. But I know Jesus was waiting on him. The last thing he said to me was the same thing I just heard on this KZread NDE’s He said I’ve never seen colors so beautiful because we don’t even have names for these colors. He said most beautiful lights, most beautiful colors. Then he was gone. Prayers for your broken heart to heal sister. God bless you

Because the ones that do make it through are people that have an internal difference that sets them apart. So his point about saying "i can't tell you who will make it through, but I can tell you the people that do make it through have these certain traits that are not evident when they first join up". Is spot on when you understand the subtext of the explanation.

    Highest performing team in the world is the foreign legion. Take a group of people who literally have nothing to lose, nothing to prove, not even a real identity even tho most of them had special sets of skills before even enrolling - people escaping from a horrible past or criminals looking for redemption - make them go through a spartan training where death is common occurence and engrave discipline in their bones with the perspective of a new life and a bright future. That's how you create a unit so feared the topic itself is something people have been avoiding for the past 200 years. "but they don't count" is the most used argument when talking about performance.
