I live just out side Austin and we have coyotes, possums, roadrunners, armadillos, raccoons, wild peacocks and snakes. Not to mention turkey vultures and hawks. And deer.

I didn't know Austin has such a rolling terrain. A great vantage point is this view into the city. This particular road appears to even line up with that good looking state capital building.

As a native northern Iowan, they’re three times the size up there than down here! Everything (BUT THE DEER) is bigger in Texas! 😂 upper Midwest has newborn fawns bigger than the full grown deer down here! 😂

"Y'all" has all but been replaced by the more Midwestern/West Coast "You guys" in most urban areas of Texas. Most of the newer arrivals actually get rather annoyed when they hear "y'all." They often don't understand exactly how the contraction is applied in daily speech. I say "y'all" all the time just to help keep it alive. Probably less than 5% of Texans use "howdy" as a greeting anymore. That was more a signature Texan/Oklahoman expression than "y'all."

Lol NOT only in the 512 but in the 210 San Antonio this happens also. We stop for deer 🦌 in helotes, Leon valley, stone oak, shavano park, and medical center areas... 😅

We grazed one in New Braunfels, TX. Deer got up and looked at us like we got in her way.

That's not only in Austin. I almost hit a baby deer on PCH once. But a car on the other side of traffic ended up hitting it instead.

I was once in a cab in Pittsburgh and the driver kept slamming on brakes and yelling "look, DEER!!!", but there were no deer. At first it was amusing but became a bit terrifying when he kept doing it on the Interstate.
