Only History: the creation of Renown-class battlecruisers
Hello Dear viewers. Today I would like to tell you about the history of the creation of two interesting ships. It is interesting primarily because they were supposed to be the newest, most powerful, most modern, and, importantly, the most needed battle cruisers of the British fleet. But it happened that immediately after they were put into operation, they began to be called nothing more than "cans", and their nicknames were Refit and Repair. The battlecruisers Repulse and Renown had such an unenviable fate after commissioning. However, despite this, they managed to become ships, which inscribed their names in the history of World War II, and one of them at least served until the very end, rightfully considered one of the most demanded ships of the British fleet. But today we will see how it happened that they built a "can" and what needed to be done to get a full-fledged battlecruiser out of it.
