Four United States Air Force B-52H Stratofortress long range bombers have arrived at RAF Fairford United Kingdom from Minot Air Force Base in North Dakota. The bombers are part of the department of defence's large scale global exercise series throughout June.

As a boy in rural Oxfordshire, I used to cycle over to (then) USAF SAC Brize Norton and stand at the end of the runway watching these beauties take-off/land. The impression they made was immense and resulted an aviation career lasting over 35 years and becoming a United States citizen. Now happily retired in beautiful New England. 🇺🇸🇬🇧
My heart raced when I looked up to see two B-52 flying over my New Mexico home two months ago. They really are massive. The fighters that where escorting the planes looked like flies next to them.

I know what you mean as a soldier in an Army sof unit I called them in in Afghanistan. To see them and B-1's and All of the rest coming was incredible and something that would snatch your heart back from the edge. And now back home on our family owned ranch here in Western Wyoming and seeing them come over is just amazing. When the B-1's out of South Dakota come over at low level is amazing my siblings don't get it but they know I'm weird. Beautiful.
I can't believe these are still in service. No doubt they will reach 100 years old.

A customer of mine was contracted to supply urgently-needed catering trailers when these first arrived at Fairford in 1990. He lost half his crockery and glassware as they deafingly landed! T'is said that when the F-35 retires after a long service the 'Buff', still being operational, will be leading the honouring Flypast!
Love this! My childhood home was in the flight path of Griffiss AFB in Rome, New York. Back in the 1960s/70s the BUFFs would scream overhead at 3:00 a.m., and we were so used to them that they didn't even wake us up. Good old days! ❤
The poor weather for the take offs made the 52s look even more menacing / ominous than usual. Great filming as always. Thanks.

The KC-135 tanker was built to refuel the B-52 bomber without it having to come down to 30,000 feet & slow to 300 mph: making it vulnerable to attack!
I saw one up close at Edwards AFB on static display years ago. It is absolutely stunning
What a beast! I was fortune enough to walk up to and in the bombay of one of these monsters at a Long Beach airshow along with B-1, C5A and all the assorted goodies that go with a airshow. One thing that amazes me, the wings at the wing root seem to stay in place. Those are taking tremendous loads all the time. When working on corporate aircraft some of us we invited over (across the street) to Douglas to watch the building of the DC-10. One of these aircraft had cable attachments to the wingtips and they were load testing the flex of the wing....my jaw hit the ground. I would say (as a guess) those tips flexed 8 feet in both the up and down direction. Dafydd as I mentiond before your videos always put a grin on my face from ear to ear and bring back some fond memories. Thanks again to sharing your passion!

Imagine living in Hanoi when these arrived overhead back during the Vietnam war. I remember reading once that they flew so high that they couldn't be heard!
They are a beast of an aircraft. A beautiful beast.❤
Used to see these all the time as a kid, live at Minot from '88-'94, when they were still doing Cold War alert scrambles. Amazing aircraft.
I remember the day I arrived to revive RAF Fairford. Family arrived 3 months later and we lived in Carterton. The base had been closed since 1952 but BAC was occupying with Concord. Left 5 years later with it fully active. Great times.
Air Force veteran sergeant and was stationed at 2 SAC bases and overseas during operation arc light. Saw these BUFFs take off every 12 hrs for a run to VN.

The the screaming engines is like nothing else. You don't even need to see it to know that it's the Buff.
We know you have a choice in delivering your ordnance to your destination. Thank you for flying USAF!
Such an impressive footage especially tge B-52H Stratofortress clise up with water reflected from the rain is beautiful and the takeoff too on a downpour weather!!! 😊
Fun fact: When the B-52 first flew there were still 2 veterans of the American Civil War alive and the last pilot to fly the BUFF has not been born yet!!! Given that the aircraft is about to get a retrofit of new Rolls Royce Turbofans it will fly for At least another 30 years. There was a recent story of new BUFF pilot posing next to a BuNo that his dad and grandad also flew. The BUFF is a product of a company that once upon a time built airplanes with an engineering mind set FIRST.
Total badass. Respect.
Lovely camera work. Thank you.

Thanks for sharing. When was this filmed please? We've stopped by a couple of times hoping to see activity, but they've just been static when we've been around, though they did seem to be testing the engines on one of them for a while. Do you have a way of knowing when they are likely to be taking off / landing, or do you just get lucky? Cheers

Which old bomber smokes worse the B52 or the Tupolev Tu-95. Looks like the B52 to me.
These beasts began service in 1955 (according to Wiki). They can’t land or takeoff just anywhere. They had to be navigated by hand with some, by today’s standards, primitive electronics. I’m guessing it’s a little bit easier today.
Many naps on the Cat Walk Bomb Bay.Fase Dock.Hydraulics-Carswell AFB.75 to 77.
I remember standing on the flightline and made the air force base in sacramento california rancho cordova california lieutenant simon would take me to the base to see these planes take off b fifty 24 life❤
They were out again today, they were tracked on flight24 they went round Spain and down to Syrian gulf then back.
Are they here for a reason or just and exercise.
And 200 years from now, someone will be filming those very same B-52s taking off and landing.
Will we see them do the Mach Loop ??
