Love your videos and thank you for all your hard work over the years
great video!!! i love the emphasis on everything on local, some of this tricks i use to use them myself but in a really low scale, i may consider change my tuta account for a mailbox, it looks like it offers more and the price for premium is around the same, so it feels like more value for your bucks, which is what everyone wants in the end PD: that moment when you see yout IRL name on the patreon section and feel you fail in the list, lmao, also, is cool to be a patreon now!! supporting you brings a smile on my face
Nice content bruh. Keep it up, proud of you
notification squad!!! thanks for the vid Wolfgang.
Another note on Keepass: What I usually do is host my Keepass database on a cloud provider but I require an additional key file on my local device to unlock it, which I store separately and encrypted elsewhere backed up. This way I get the benefits of syncing but if the database was ever stolen it wouldn't be able to be unlocked unless you also somehow had my key file which I manually encrypt on a local drive
Great tips! You do a great job with your videos. Thanks.

Wolfgang, this is a great video. I've been concerned about my privacy since the beginning of the internet. It's sounds overwhelming, but that's our world. I am skeptical about all the privacy, antivirus, etcétera products in the market, and even the ones we pay. They are all hacking tools. If you have someone interested in every second of your existence, then it doesn't matter how much precautions you use. I'm a living proof that we don't have privacy.
Thanks for the tips. I saw the containers in the firefox, now will use it.
"Please keep safe on the internet and do not use easily identifiable data, as you do not know who is going to give it away" (paraphrased) "These are my patreons..." (follows with a complete list of first and last names :P) Joke aside, great video!
Thank you, lovely rational suggestions. Why are there not more OS and browser options that handle ALL of this automatically? If everyone was doing it the value of tracking people would fall to the point that companies would stop doing it and resort to wholesome marketing techniques.
Regular software updates are crucial, often including security patches for newly discovered vulnerabilities. Implementing additional security measures like two-factor authentication, secure socket layer (SSL) encryption, and verification APIs can further protect you online.
Thank you! Happy Mother’s Day!
Thank you!! Super useful info!!
Insightful video. Thanks.:)
8:28 there used to be these things called phone books, which had everybody’s name and number in it. Everyone got a new copy of this delivered to their home each year. I say this sarcastically, but I’m also surprised by how many people are shocked by this.
@WolfgangsChannel
3 жыл бұрын
That's true. But the Internet and social media also didn't exist back then, so the damage potential was very limited. Plus, as far as I know, you could still opt out of those phone books and request your name to be removed.

grateful for the honest approach. You sometimes go too fast . make some videos on this and other privacy concerns for beginners. Explain slowly step by step and more carefully what needs to be done, to get out of the grip as much as possible of these large companies and retain a more reasonable amount of privacy online at least until the collapse.

This is great. At some point, could you help us explain why it matters that Google and others know everything about us to friends who don't see any downside to completely ignoring privacy apart from the risk of identity theft?
@WolfgangsChannel
3 жыл бұрын
My advice: don't bother. I've been trying to explain it to many people for multiple years. An average person will not see the issue unless there's an actual tangible and immediate disadvantage - e.g. sensitive data leak, financial loss, doxxing, etc. That's why I decided to limit the video to things that can actually have an immediate negative effect on your life.
thanks! you're awesome ^^

This guy and Naomi Brockwell are wonderful.
If I’ve already used different passwords countless times for separate services over the course of years, so much so that I can’t even remember how many I signed up to, am I totally screwed and my data is basically a hack away from everything I have being leaked?

You don't need to use your real name if you use a pre-paid credit card and register it online with the provider, then use the zip or postal code you registered when shopping online. Also, another reason not to use SMS for 2FA is that if that number is ever re-assigned for whatever reason is someone can get access to your information, even unintentionally.

Hey, man! What do you think about antiviruses? And if you use it, please tell us which one is best and the most secure?

Hey! Antiviruses are essential for keeping your computer safe. Top recommendations are Bitdefender, Norton, and Kaspersky. I prefer Bitdefender for its comprehensive protection and minimal system impact. Keep it updated for the best security. Stay safe!
In our unstable time, the system must be reliable in the first place. I made a choice in favor of the Utopia ecosystem, I am confident in the security of my data and funds.
May I ask which Distro do you use?

Which i7 processor you recommend for T470 CPU upgradation, I like to upgrade my present T470 with i5 7th gen processor to a good i7. Can I upgrade DDR3 Ram to DDR4 Ram of T470. How much Ram will be recommended for a good development laptop. Your advice will be appreciated.
@WolfgangsChannel

No, the CPU is not upgradable in this model. You also can’t upgrade DDR3 to DDR4. 16 gigs should be enough for normal use
Dude I'm looking for a great laptop to buy you still think that the T480 is a good laptop in 2021?
Great video, specially from a very young guy. For the temporary reliable phone number (cellphone) there are better ways which obviously not everyone should know about it. If you have experience working with any major cellphone carrier company, you clearly know how to get virtual phone numbers that work like registered numbers, which are only accessible by you.

Why not just buy a laptop with a good CPU in the first place? Even on a laptop with an upgradable CPU you can only upgrade it to the same generation. E.g. you can't just buy a lapop with 4th generation i5 and upgrade it to 11th gen i9.

Any opinions on the Proton environment? Protonmail, drive, VPN, password manager?
@vpnranksofficial
11 күн бұрын
The Proton ecosystem is highly regarded for its strong focus on privacy and security. ProtonMail offers end-to-end encryption for secure email communication. ProtonVPN provides a reliable, no-logs VPN service. ProtonDrive ensures your cloud storage is encrypted, and ProtonPass is a secure password manager. Overall, Proton services are excellent choices for anyone prioritizing privacy.
This should be taught in schools at this point

Can you advice a ThinkPad Laptop for software development practice. I am a student, no money to buy latest laptop. I like to use it for Android app development, Web application development, and Python based analytics. I was thinking to buy a ThinkPad T440p and upgrade to my usage. You are recommending to go for a new one. Since I want to use it for my software development practice and to use it for my development work. I need a good one but going for a costly one, not affordable at the moment. Sorry for explaining in detail. Your good advice will be appreciated. Waiting to hear from you.

If you know you'll want to upgrade the laptop eventually, I'd say save up the money for T480. If you can't save up the money, get the basic model of T440p and upgrade it slowly over time. Manage your expectations - T440p is a great machine, definitely better than any new laptop in the same price range, but it's also 8 years old. You will need to spend around $350-600 on it (depending on your luck and parts availability) to get decent performance out of it (quad-core CPU, a FullHD display, an SSD and a new battery).
