Every time I watch a video like this, I regret having ever created my social media accounts. The internet memory is scary, and the data brokers scarier. It astounds me that private information, including contact details and residential addresses of the common public in the US is so easily available to absolutely anyone and everyone! No wonder stalking and killings are getting easier by the day! Very informative video and nicely presented, deserves way more than just the current 15k subscribers. Subscribed! I was on Facebook when it was cool over a decade ago. I never used a lot of personal information and did not post pictures or mention my children. This Era was just the start of big data. I'm so glad that I jumped off social media. I refuse to be in anyone's photos bc once I do, that gets posted on the internet. When I do take photos, I'm never in them. I take photos of other things like nature, etc. The internet is forever.
Learning more about internet privacy is always time well spent. Glad this channel brings that subject to light. Keep it up! I'll be waiting for future videos!

Just watched (and commented on) How to Disappear, and now this. You're channel's a real find although I'm daunted by just how much data they have on us out there, how far back it goes, and how difficult it is to extricate yourself. Still, for videos of kittens playing the piano, personal privacy is a small price to pay! Looking forward to more of your stuff.
This video demonstrates how careful you have to be when posting anything. It can catch up with you.

For me privacy and confidentaility are more important than free speech unless the information being shared is important for the general public or related to a crime. In those cases publishing factual information would supercede privacy. But the fact that people can just buy your information without your knowledge or consent is super disturbing. There needs to be way more transparency and regulation around collecting and monetizing people's data
@earthmother4397

Not all crimes need to be broadcast on the internet especially if it happened a long time ago and is not relevant and especially if the case was dismissed and the criminal record expunged. The media should not have power to overrule judges and cancel people to start a slander campaign against them. People make mistakes and we need to forgive and allow growth.

I don't understand though why your search history and cookies and all that data which people want to remove because they're being sold, that's it. If you're an average person with an average life, what is it you're afraid of people finding out about you? Is your data even worth their profit or personal gain? Even the location bit, it's only approximate.

Supporting the wrong political party is now considered a "bad thing".
Unless you're "most wanted" and involved in something serious, then it is still worth deleting all your social media accounts. It's time consuming and expensive for law enforcement to do deep online searches for people and in many cases I've seen police just search for someone as any of us would. If you're not that big of a criminal or simply want to disappear, then remember how many millions of others will have the attention of authoritarians-you'll soon be forgotten.
This is my new favorite channel
I used a Twitter extension to comb through some of my old Twitter activity from when I was 13, and it felt magical. It manually went through and deleted every like, comment, Tweet, and retweet. It did it in such a way that it emulated a person doing it, making it faster to remove that data from the network than a deletion request.
This is groundbreaking info for me, thanks a lot amigo.
