Technically it's a 3rd Gen Foldable since Oppo helped develop it and they even released their eastern version of the phone called the oppo find n3. It's the same exact phone.

I love your videos, but c'mon, if you're professional, you can't deny that this device is NOT a first gen. It's third gen. No matter if it was or not sold in US. This is third gen, Oppo N3.

@smartphoneconversations What market its released in is irrelevant. This is basically an Oppo find n3 with a Oneplus badge. They have learned a lot from their first 2 folding phones, that made this phone what it is. I have a fold 5, and I have an Open on the way for many of the reasons that you have stated. I really wanted Samsung to change the dimensions of the fold 5, and do much better with the crease.. unfortunately they did neither, so I'm excited to try the Open. Regardless of what iteration of this phone it is, they seem to have got this right. Just wish it would of had wireless charge..

i have two dislikes which can hopefully be fixed in a software update: 1 - when you save a multiscreen set up, you cant save it to the dock, you also cant save it to the homescreen without turning on that annoying feature that adds every new app to your homescreen. 2 - I cant answer calls with my voice. I miss that from my Pixel and S23U (still have the latter)

My problem with this phone is the damn camera hump, it's too big. They should have made it smaller and not sticking out on the back like that.

The reason why there is no 5x5 or 5x6 App stack is , Oneplus is using the same app structure in inside screen as well. So it can't accommodate 5 apps horizontally . Otherwise it would be 10 app icons in one row when you open up the bigger screen. So this is by design. Not a flaw. If they choose to go Samsung way where you can have different front screen and inner screen setup , it would be possible then.

First of all, great video. Thanks for answering the question about the home screen layout on the displays. Was really hoping it would since normal oxygen OS has up to 5x6 on displays with the same aspect ratio, hopefully they add it in a patch. If not, hopefully Nova can and supports the Open alright

As beautiful as the phone is I don’t like that inner display has to mirror the cover display. I really want the option to have different wallpaper and set up on each display. The phone when it’s released as Oppo Find N3 in Australia in November is going to cost $2700 Aussie dollars. For that kind of money I should be able to have different looking displays.

I would constantly be hitting the thing just holding it or putting it in or taking it out of my pocket, little did I know you can change the settings from a light touch to a firm touch which the firm touch requires the screen to be on that solved my problem big time like I said before I was always hitting it and hearing the haptics go off

I had the Last gen G Fold, I have the Google Fold and just traded for a discounted OnePlus Open. The latter is hands down the best folding device I’ve used. I have a couple of issues: 1- the volume rocker is too high up 2- the screen doesn’t consistently wake up when you tap it 3-when you connect a Bluetooth device the volume sometimes sets itself at too high a volume level. Otherwise an excellent device. And yes it’s actually a third gen device since Oppo basically made this. It’s time for these devices to be priced competitively with high end candy bar phones

Correct everywhere else but it's definitely not a first attempt.

@@smartphoneconversations so the correct statement would be the first device released In America. But in the context you used in the video you clearly were praising how great the one plus was compared to the first effort of Google Pixel. Oppo has released a total of I think 4 folding phones before this one. 2 find N and 2 find N flips. OPPO was really one of the first to buck the Samsung form factor and lead to devices like the surface duo. Love the vid But I'm just saying we gotta acknowledge this is American branded oppo phone. They literally are the same phone with rebranded software ie boundless view - open canvas.

If wireless charging is that important to you then foldables were never for you. Of all the things to care for, despite having 67W charging....... 20 minutes gets you 50%, other 20 min to 100% with the safest charging solution for long term ownership.... It has the lightest weight of foldables, best camera systems, best aspect ratios, and least noticeable crease, and best speaker system. But no, it's the wireless charging that's your deal-breaker.
