I've changed the battery right now and even if this video is a very useful tutorial there are some difference with the reality (at least in my case): 1) First of all the flap that must be removed (minute 1.35 in the video) is glued with the cables below so there is the danger to destroy them in trying to divide them. 2) Second, the battery itself is glued below so it's more difficult to remove it than it's shown in the video (with a plate skrewdriver is not so difficult at the end of the day, but it was impossible to remove it by simply pulling the plasting tongue) --> the result was that i drilled the old battery with the skrewdriver making impossible to reuse it in the case the new battery is not working... fortunately with the successive battery tests the new one functioned, otherwise i had to attend for a new one without a working phone. I shared with you my experience, i don't know if it's always the case. Beyond these two difference the video is super.. it follows you in each step, very good!

Followed this with only a couple of issues, to get the back off I used a metal lever as opposed to plastic as the plastic wasn't strong enough to lever the screen off, then one of the flex cables was stuck to the metal part of the cover, so I had to carefully lever this off as well. other than that it took me 48 mins to complete this replacement. thank you very much for the video.

Thanks for video. One thing that happened for me is the sheild covering battery plug was actually adhered to the two plugs under it, so I had to be more careful with that. Besides that, the splitting of the phone was easier than anticipated

Perfect instructions, got my battery and tools from Ebay. Was a bit hard to get case popped at first, once I had first cover popped (used small flat screwdriver to pop it) then I was able to get the rest with the plastic tools. Battery took a bit more pull force compared to video but was able to remove it by pulling on the sticker tab. In all took about 15 minutes and worked great.

Back cover insanely hard to get off! Plastic spudger thing useless. I managed to get a small screwdriver in, when tried guitar pick thing, corner broke off and wedged in. Using screwdriver and old metal credit card i managed to get the rest off. Left alot of scratches. Rest of it fairly easy after the cover. Make sure to use tweezer tips or something to press all around the edges when reconnecting things to make sure they're solidly seated in.

What about the charge of the new battery? is real that is recommended to make the first 7-10 recharges on powered off phone (min 5hours/recharge), and not to remain below the 20% recharge for the first 7-10 recharges? PERFECT GUIDE !!! AAA+++ Thanks

Hating the blue spudger so far. One of the problems is that it's too short to get a good steady grip on it. It's already slipped and cut me once.

Just replaced my one plus 5t battery and I can say it is so hard to open the mobile it took me 20 mins to open it and 10 plastic tools after I did it. I have repaired loads of mobiles and this is by far the hardest to open. you can see in the video the battery just popped out mine was so hard I bent it to get it out. well after all that it's up and running thanks for the video but people that haven't repaired phones before probable would crack the screen.

This is big BS. You can't open OnePlus 5T that easy and with that crapy plastic tools... Guys why do you keep doing this? Yeah viewers will destroy their phone after watching this kind of "advice" but views are views, right? Just be honest and write at the beginning of video that particular phone was opened thousand of times and that's the reason it's open so easily... then upload video how to do it properly. Or you are one of those service guys which post yt videos witch leads to damages to theirs phone to gain profit.

Well, the problem is that you have no idea what you are talking about, you just spreading misleading info. Yes, the phone is that easy to open, and yes, almost everybody is working with those little plastic tools, even in service centers. I have opened a lot of Oneplus phones, after removing the 2 little screws from the bottom, you can pop the back off within 2 minutes even if the phone never been taken apart before. Also the battery is not glued so heavily into the frame like some another dumbass manufacturers do, just to prevent people to repair their phones. By OP5 it is easy to remove and replace it. Thumbs up for OP doing this, and making their phones more repairable. I am not an OP user right now, i am not a fanboy, just wanted to point out that you writing nonsense. Peace

Yo! Don't open the phone like that. Any phone thats been used will be a b***ch to pry like that. A knife will get you a lot farther to be honest.. Or if you have it available use the side of a measuring tape (its thin but wont cut you) to force the phone backing from the screen. THEN get something in there. Dont break your screens because the video made it look like it falls apart lol. (Just be careful that the metal doesnt peel your finish off the bezel edge where the glass meets! Thats the caveat to using metal)
