I made the move from Samsung Galaxy S7 to OnePlus 5 and I have to say, it was absolutely worth it. I have had the OP5 for a month and this is my load down. Don't get me wrong, S7 was a great phone, but the OP5 is so much better. OP5 took the best from Apple and Android, and made a solid phone. Battery life is on point and Dash Charging puts it over the edge. The customization with the everything is fantastic. The OS is just clean. I am a very pleased customer. Oh, one more thing. Headphone jack. 🖐️😎 💥🎤

Are you good at understanding what are strong qualities in a phone (just wondering)? I'm debating on the oneplus 5, the lg v30, and the xiaomi mix 2 and i have friends who recommend the one plus five but I suppose the phone is on the lower end spectrum compared to the other two. I'm wondering if you could give any more input! Thanks!

I can't recommend OnePlus phones enough. You really don't have to buy anything more expensive than that if you ask me. I don't know much about the LG V30, but as for the Xiaomi Mi Mix 2, you won't have anywhere near the support you can get from OnePlus. Xiaomi makes great products, but it isn't that well established outside of China. Especially compared to OnePlus, which clearly aims for and has a global customer base.

epicstacker413 I agree but u have to keep in mind that OnePlus is not a company with millions of die hard loyal fans.They are a company still in it's early years and are competing in a space where there are so many good options that it becomes hard to justify similar designs.Android has so many options that having a phone that feels a bit similar makes it harder to justify

I'm still rocking my 3T, and honestly other than some charger port issues, it's been great. The camera really feels outdated, it's a little slow, but the battery is amazing.

Got a 128GB HDD 8GB ram OnePlus 5 today, upgrading from a Samsung S5, must say this is a fantastic phone, was around $200 cheaper than the S8 and as he says, if you get past the infinity screen it's honestly worth your while. Plus the phone is very reactive and no lag spikes no matter how much is running. I only just heard about OnePlus yesterday in store. Certainly will be looking forward to their future work as they come more prominent in the market. As for the camera, it's very clear, absolutely ideal for what I need my camera for.

Been using my OnePlus 5 since 2 years. Not disappointed. My best purchase ever.

OnePlus is owned by BBK Electronics. BBK has 9000 employees and OnePlus makes up less than 1000 of those employees. To put that into perspective Samsung has 325,000 employees. BBK Electronics is also made up of 3 different phone brands (OnePlus, Oppo and Vivo) while Samsung only has one. They are a small company in an industry run by giants. EDIT: I'm aware Samsung has other revenue streams, all this means is they have more money to spend on R&D. You cannot expect Samsung-like features on BBK phones because they don't have the disposable income to develop such features.

You know that Samsung does much more then just design and manufacturing the smartphone, only in the electronics side of things they manufacture the amoled displays the ram, flash storage, the controllers batteries even all snapdragon 835 soc are manufactured by them in addition to actually creating the smartphone, your average phone might have so much more parts from Samsung then you ever thought about. and this just a part from their electronics and mobile division

Callahan Covington iPhone 5 and 5s had 720p panels and you could compare them with phones with 1080p displays and they always stood out because Apple doesn't fuck around with numbers when it comes to the screen. iPhone 7 has one of the best screens I've ever seen (best goes to s8) and it's a bloody 1080p panel. Apple does optimisation and screen best.

Only the Plus models of the Iphone is 1080p. But the Iphone cost alot more and is still only 1080p. At least with my galaxy S8 I can see why I paid $750 for it.

I used my friend's OnePlus 5 against my iPhone 7 Plus and was really impressed. It's super fast, the camera is almost the same, and it's half the price. Plus it has dual sim, which is great for traveling. I'd recomend the OnePlus 5 and save some money and for the extra features.

OnePlus didn't exactly copy Oppo, Oppo is actually the parent company of OnePlus. So it technically owns the design.

honestly, I regretted not buying the 5 over the 5t. Don't get me wrong, it's just that I prefer having bezels for gripping and the slighly longer battery.

The 8 gigs of memory isn't immediately that useful, but that's just because the Android OS and the apps for it are still in the interim phases of interoperability optimisation. There is stuff coming down the line pretty soon where it could be quite important. System virtualization is one such form of technology that would benefit greatly from access to larger contiguous memory increments, and even be impossible with 4 gig memory thresholds. Also that extra memory could become very quickly useful in one of the most quickly developing markets, which is mobile games. Pretty much the same as it is useful for full-fledged computers. Even high res video playback can gain a lot from temporary storage in larger raw memory buffers. Really it's not because that extra memory couldn't be useful right now, it's because the OS and software is still in its infancy, and does not efficiently use the hardware resources that are based on more 'matured' technology.

Man I really really love this phone and guess what it's still running up till this day... The best ever smartphone I ever owned... Even though I moved to the galaxy s22 ultra 2 months back I still use my op5 for social media and other browsing... The phone is just perfect and really well built... Worth every dollar spent on it

Love my oneplus 5, everything i need, love how they are not over priced, and not slowing down if you have it for a longer time. One bad thing was, oneplus 3 that i had, the camera stopped working properly and mic aswell. Back to oneplus 5, battery(9/10), design (9/10), camera (9/10), aux, speed( 9/10). All really good for such price!

Anyone else think that when he said "Go and get one", he said "Don't get one."?

3 yrs later, and watching this video on a OnePlus 5. Still super smooth and awesome, no hiccups!

*You didn't talk about one of the most important parts: The charging time. 30 minutes for 50% is awesomely outrageous.*

.. thinner is not better. OP7 same screen, move the camera back where it belongs and increase the module size, lower model should be 445€ and no more (make charger an extra accessory and free shipping only for people ordering it in the first 48 hours).

I do love the textured back to that phone. Best feeling phone I've held. I dropped my OnePlus2 and factored in screen repair against the price of the new OnePlus5. I'm sure I'll love it.

I don't think he's gonna review it. My guess is that HTC took his U Ultra video pretty seriously and didn't want him to review their U11, which was also a mistake because it's actually a pretty good phone. But it could be also that MKBHD ignored it on purpose.

When the iPhone 4 came out the price was $400, people said that was expensive at the time, now iPhone7/7 plus is near $1000, same with Samsung and other major flag ships. the Oneplus one was around 300, Oneplus 5 now is 500. Why the hell are people complaining about price.

man used this phone for 3.5 years and was still running solid. It was just a beast. my now oneplus 8t is not nearly half of good as it was back then . miss the old oneplus 15.1.2023

Have the 7T as my daily driver but I still rock the 5 as my backup phone, and let me tell you, the 5 feels more snappy than the 7T. Had such amazing memories with the OnePlus 5 😍
