For me curved display is good for viewing, but for my use cases, I would rather chose flat panel. That's my take.

The camera design is awesome. It looks absolutely beautiful and personally I think it's the best design currently on the market.

Good to see they added the sports capture mode introduced on the find x6 series. That was missing from previous Oneplus phones. No mickey mouse camera sensors either which is good at this price. Very little sacrifice this time. Very good band coverage on the Chinese version too and the signal is supposed to be really strong according to the Jingdong reviews. Personally would prefer a flat screen but that is a matter of personal preference

Swap from Oneplus 7 pro to Nothing 2. But I'am used to Oneplus to much. Will probably go back to Oneplus 12 when it will be released in Europe.

I think you forget with OnePlus phones, even when they had no water certification they were still protected. Ip65 is cheaper to certify. I would almost bet that these probably have the same protection as an IP 68 they just didn't want to pay for the title.

I can't wait to order this when it launches in the USA in January. I hope everyone has all the accessories and things we will need for it also at that time!

I really need camera comparison to OnePlus Open. It has my favourite cameras of 2023, the rendering is absolutely amazing and very natural. I'm especially curious if the telephoto will work at least as good.

IP65 is a lot cheaper to certify in then IP68. they did that to keep the cost of the phone down. How did you not know that? I am perfectly happy with them going the ip65 route to make buying the phone cheaper. If they did IP68 people would then start complaining the phone is to expensive.

Vivo x100 vs OnePlus 12 which one has better cameras?

After using a OnePlus 7 Pro for nearly three yesrs before my Samsung S22 Ultra for nearly two years now I will NOT buy another device with a curved edge display. I hate the combination of mistouches and simultaneous reduced sensitivity/accuracy at the edges of the screen. I would much prefer a slightly smaller flat display and more squared off sides than deal with a curved display. It's a trend, or "feature" that needs to die.

The iP65 is due to the speaker's. If you check iP65/68 they have to be submerged 30min to be certified. OnePlus is water pressure proof so you can submerge it but don't forget it in water or probably the speaker's and the internals will suffer

Interesting, yeah what most people care is whether it survives when its dropped into swimming pool / lake / toilet etc. and it survives. Wonder without IP68 whether it may sound slightly better than Samsung S23 / 24 U...

I think it was due to cost. they probably did it to keep the cost of the phone low. if not people would just complain that the phone is way to expensive for a one plus phone

In fact, I understand exactly why OnePlus doesn't offer ip68. Most people are unaware of this but, the ip68 certification is quite expensive. Once more, here in North America it would increase the price of the device by nearly $200. The ip65 certification doesn't cost that much. Still, every flagship 1 + device is built with the equivalent of an ip68 rating but, they just do not pay for the certification. Of course, anyone that has taken apart a flagship 1 + device is aware of that. All the gaskets and protective measures are in place.

If they can't certify they can still produce a waterproof phone and just say it without the rating. Back it up with a warranty. Why say splash resistant.

@@freud1025 they say splash proof because it does have an IP 65 certification. That's the law and they can say nothing further. If they want to say waterproof then they have to pay the money for the ip68 rating. Again, that's the law. If they don't pay for the ip68 certification and say that the phone is waterproof then they open themselves up for a huge lawsuit. A warranty really has nothing to do with it. As I stated in my original comment, every OnePlus flagship device is built with the equivalent of an ip68 rating. Once more, that's something that many people are well aware of. However, if they were to pay the money for the ip68 rating it would jack up the cost of the device dramatically. That cost would be passed on to the consumer.

@@dr.fitprofessor4363 I understand the IP68 cert cost part but that's a strange law that one can't say their phone is waterproof without adding IP68 to it. Also, if the phones are built waterproof I don't see tests done with a OP11 dunk under the water for some time and results shown, I could be wrong.

@@freud1025 considering that the OnePlus 11 has been my daily driver since February I've seen a lot of videos about it. Once more, I've never seen a dunk test performed on it. Although, that's hardly surprising.

Oneplus is the only fone that listens to the consumers. They proved it from op11 and op12

It has the same main sensor as the Oneplus 11, it's just rebranded. The 3x zoom is new though, and pretty great on my oneplus open.

Best phone I've seen since the OnePlus 9 pro my only concern is it not being ip68. Has sometimes I like to watch videos while I'm sitting in the bathtub.

99% of the people never drop the phone into ocean or lake. I have used phones for like 20 years and didnt even drop 3310 into the water. If it can handle rain and such it is just fine. Even without having that rating I have never experienced any problems with water in any smartphone. Just gimmick in my opinion. You shouldnt need that. Just take care of your items better.

you know what OnePlus is missing out (market-wise) with their 1 flagship per year strategy? a compact sized phone with same SoC internal and slightly lower on some features (resolution, battery, etc) there are literally only 3 Android brands with compact size flagship level offerings, namely Asus, Google, and Samsung. Asus Zenfones suck at the software side (2yrs), Pixel 7 and 8 while having good cameras and longer software support, their batteries (capacity and charging time) and gaming capabilities are outdated. Samsung will be OnePlus' only competitor on this category, they should really make compact phones, and make it flat screen ones. I'd buy that instead over the base S23/S24.

Is the BOE display as good as Samsung displays and as reliable? There has been some controversy with BOE recently.

Good question. As far as I know it's NOT even close to Samsung. More so that Apple failed to do business with them due to failing their quality test multiple times for years. But I don't know if that quality has been upgraded today...

I emailed the link you mentioned, no reply so no way would I hand over money , if they can't be bothered to reply, plus don't want colour OS.

Ruined by the curved display! Will probably buy the Galaxy S24+ next month when it gets released. I'm sick and tired of curved displays. Can't ever find a screen protector that works well on those displays.

I have used the PI Music Player on my One Plus phone, love it.

I think it's a nice phone, but in order to take some nice photos, people just need to adjust some settings, WB, auto nightmode, and even use some filters etc. I know this from experience. That's why I'm thinking about the xiaomi 13 series, 14 series, the oppo find x6 pro, iqoo 12 pro, honor magic 5 pro, vivo x 90 pro plus, vivo x 100 pro, since not only do these phones have lot's of storage for tens of thousands photos, but they can also deliver some really nice photos! A big thumbs up for all those companies 👍

​@doki1146 it also depends on the os for example magic os in my opinion is by far the best optimized os our there that I've seen so far also Chinese version comes with a better silicon carbon battery and the global get lithium ion however most Chinese companies use lithium polymer battery a much safer but less good of a battery compared to lithium ion my point here is 8gen2 on the honor magic 5 pro has better battery life than the iPhone 15 pro max because of better optimisation

I think the OP12 will be better than the Relame GT5 Pro. Relame ultrawide camera is garbage and no LTPO.

Shame the cameras are so ugly. I'm on a Oneplus 6 and held off getting the 11 due to not liking the camera bump design. The one time they keep the styling the same!!
