    I love the looks! Have had the car for six weeks. Actually had a young woman flag me down in a parking lot to tell me what a cool car I had. Haha. And I get stares from other drivers and pedestrians all the time. My grown son was out with friends and they saw an Ioniq 5 on the road and his friends said "oooh. Look at THAT!" He was proud to announce, "That's the car my mom just bought!" Kinda fun to have "the cool car."

    Great video! We picked up our Ioniq5 about a week and a half ago...had our 23 Kona Ultimate EV in for a service check at 48,000km on Thursday and the dealer had thier I5 demo for sale and we picked it up on Friday. It is an AWD Ultimate in Cyber Grey....in short WE LOVE IT! We loved our Kona and roadtripped the hell out of it in the 10 months we owned it but this car is a huge game changer for my wife and I. All your points are bang on...we tend to pile on about 50 - 60 thousand km's a year on our vehicles and this car is easily the most comfortable, quiet sedan we have owned! Day after we picked it up we did a lunch run - 650 km round trip and it was a blast! Great job Hyundai! Thank you for the video(s) Mike

    Whoa very nice! My parents are from Taiwan! I used to go back every other year while my grandparents were still around. I imagine there aren't many ioniq 5 out there. Hyundai in the US tried to fix it but made it worse and then they said nothing was wrong with it :( so currently battling with them for next steps.

    Nice congrats! Best looking car and color on the road, in my opinion :) Ya that's exactly why I knew mine would have to go through car washes, even if the exterior wasn't too bad during the winter I wouldn't want to risk the undercarriage rusting or corroding from the salt.

    I have a 2023 SE. NO liftgate problem, but the SE does not have power liftgate. Maybe that's the difference. I think the rear of the car is fabulous looking! I took the dealer i.d. off the bumper and got a plain black license tag holder. Sweet.

    I love the design of the rear, I just wish mine looked more like most other Ioniq 5 on the road without such a bad alignment issue. That's very possible about the SE being the best because it doesn't have the mechanism to complicate things.

    Really appreciate the detailed info and hearing about your experience -- Thanks! You mentioned in another video that the matte finish was not a problem... but then I've heard other people talk about how they have to wash it with maybe special soap/sponge, or a special technique, or maybe it was more easily chipped or scratched?... has that been your experience? The matte finish looks nice and sometimes those are the only ones I see available at local dealers. But I'm worried that it could be more trouble that it's worth. Have you had to treat it much differently than your other glossy-finished cars?

  • @CarsJubilee

    @CarsJubilee

    Жыл бұрын

    You're welcome! It's been easy for me but I have not been in any accidents where I needed paint matching. I've taken mine through car washes like a normal car, just have to choose the water and soap only option. The car also comes with a matte paint care kit for handwashing. I've used that about 5 times, great for those that prefer to hand wash. But again I take mine through the normal automatic wash with no issues. I was honestly scared about the matte paint care at first too but after a year it's been no different, maybe even easier since it's such a smooth surface. I'm not sure long term how things will hold up but so far so good for one year!

    I think Hyundai really intended the regen to be adjusted continuously depending on the situation. Otherwise they wouldn’t have put the regen adjustments on the paddles, but on a menu or button somewhere. I’ve had the PHEV Ioniq for about 2 years, and using the regen to roll / break as needed makes it possible to drive very economically. And the paddles make it quite fun and engaging too.

  • @CarsJubilee

    @CarsJubilee

    I hope to one day get a chance to try out the original Ioniq, heard such good things about it and it helped pave the way for all the amazing Hyundai group EVs. I agree I think those paddles really highlight the fact that Hyundai expects users to be playing with Regen which is awesome.

  • @CarsJubilee

    Thanks! I opted not to because I don't keep my cars more than 3 years at a time. I also do mostly slow moving city driving, that's probably 80-90% of my driving time. I don't do all that much highway speed highway driving where cars are more prone to rock chips etc. But I've seen and heard of a lot of people doing ppf. If you are getting a limited, the silver trim in front does get chipped easily and I've seen quite a few cracked front panels directly under the front hood. It's not a bad idea if you plan to keep your Ioniq 5 for the long term.

    Hmm. I have test driven the Ioniq 5 a few times now and even in ipedal mode I have to give the nod to my BoltEV for best one pedal driving. However I will give a nod for having more “levels” of regen. I agree with all your other points though and yes the I5 does look like a DeLorean. It would be a PERFECT updated choice for a new Back to the Future movie hands down. Very sleek and sexy looking.

    Haven't had the chance to drive a bolt yet, on my to-do list. Heard such great things about it, I've been very tempted because of the available tax credits for it. Ya I don't think Hyundai group's one pedal level is the best version of it out there but I do think as a full system overall it offers more flexibility than any other system out there.

    Whoa congrats! Did you get the shooting star gray or the gravity gold? Here's my most recent video addressing the matte paint: kzread.info/dash/bejne/fKR4xaqfYMXSp8o.html I've honestly just treated it like a normal paint for the most part, taking it through car washes etc. But if you do that, make sure you pick the soap and water option only. Letting wax get onto our paint will supposedly make it glossy and more shiny, thus losing the matte effect over time. Yours should have come with a Dr. Beasley's paint care kit, if you follow those instructions and handwash every once in awhile your paint should hold up really well.

    I’ve had mine for a month so far and I’m loving it. Question for you on the regen paddles - do you know if it is possible to turn off the beeping sound that happens whenever you switch into or out of i-Pedal mode? It’s quite annoying 😂

    Great car, my only problems is fast DC charging, my 2023 still does not do that, but great news I actually have a Ionic 5 SEL equivalent loaner while the dealer continues to try and resolve why my car cannot fast DC charge, but I still miss my Top Trim Ionic 5 in Atlas White with the Grey (actually more like white) interior. My loaner has the Black interior and the headlights are no where as good as my LED projection lights. I have a feeling the Hyundai dealer does not know the rules of EV battery care, they charged it to 100% and it will likely stay that way till they work on it again.

  • @CarsJubilee

    Oh wow maybe give them a call and ask them not to charge to 100% if it's going to sit there? Though at this rate if they can't fix it maybe it will turn into a buyback?
