Solar should make that finish available in all of their models, IMO. The aged wood and metal parts is one of the best guitar finishes that I've seen around.

Yeah humidity changes and wood can be a difficult thing. I would prefer an instrument that has been made from wood that has been stored in the same country where I live. I have a P-bass made in USA. But I had to replace the neck because it twisted to a propeller shape just due to USA->Europe change of location. Therefore I'm also very hesitant to get a neck-through or a set neck. If your neck goes fubar, at least you can replace it.

I have an A1.6W and it came with cracks on the binding out of the box! I messaged them and asked about how it may have happened and they told me it might be because of temperature differences during shipping and gave me about $100 as compensation

I find that Solar guitars are the most comfortable to play and sit with out of any brand of guitars, so despite half of the ones I own having binding cracking, I own 6 of them and am looking into getting a 7th. My Solars also sound the best out of all my guitars, and my Evertune models in particular have saved me hours of recording and live show headaches.

Solar’s are solid work horses. I have a few. Mine never cracked. The switch needed replaced in one and the pots were filthy. Cleaned those up. I generally like them. Once you have one or 2, you don’t need anymore. They’re pretty much all the same at that point. The neck profiles are good! Pickups are fine imo. I like evertune bridges and that was the main reason I bought mine.

Swings and roundabouts, my first solars lacquer started to bubble pretty much all over the guitar so I sent it back. Few years later bought a type G, tone nob was slack on arrival and the three way selector switch, was I quote from my guitar tech "knackered". Solar tried everything under the sun not to give me a refund or replace the guitar, when I complained about it.

I have 2x Solar guitars with cracks in the ebony fingerboards. A1.7AC and an A2.7. The cracks weren't there when I bought them. They happened over time. Not sure if living in humid ass Florida helped cause them or not, but it is what it is. My Evertune has a strange issue as well that the company couldn't even figure out and just bailed on helping me. Nevertheless, I still love my Solar guitars.

How do you like the finish? The site says to beware that it might have dings and such, are there any really deep dings or anything, or just more superficial? What about the joints? IT mentions joints too.

I love the finish, it didn't have any dings or anything like that when I got it. It has a ton of dings now from me abusing it, but I think it adds character lol. The neck joint is flawless and feels super smooth, the neck itself also feels amazing.

@@mitchavedon sweet, they got that little warning on the site and it scared me a bit, I'm wanting the 7 string version of this, but for 1500 I don't want a truly "relic'd" guitar, I just want the distressed hardware look with the natural matte finish. Thanks.
