If I may ask, what is that view screen your using attached to the camera? Can you send me a link? Does it work for the video setting on a camera?

Just a quick tip... I learned from a food stylist 25 some odd years ago... wear surgical gloves when working with glass or other shiny surfaces. Especially the hero product. They eliminate possible smudges and or oily finger prints. Good stuff, Felicia!!!

For stuff like this (and shooting in general) I can highly recommend "Light: Science and Magic" by Hunter, Biver and Fuqua. It really breaks down how light interacts with different types of surfaces/materials and how it behaves differently at different angles. I really learned a lot from the book in the parts about how light interacts with curved glass (both reflection and transmission), and how to predict/control what will be light and what will be dark.

I've seen you use unbleached muslin a few times for diffusion, where do you get it from, I'm very confused. Is it the same thing as cheesecloth?

Yep! Muslin is the same as cheese cloth. Took a little bit of running around to find it but found some at a smaller fabric store local to me.
