"ONE" User Oscillator for Korg Minilogue XD

Музыка

This is a demonstration of a new user oscillator and accompanying presets that I recently developed for the Korg Minilogue XD. They are available as a digital download package at my SoundMangling store here:

    Great video, sounds great! I’ve got an XD on the way. I’ve owned a Prologue, OG Minilogue, and Monologue. Loved them all and the XD seems to be a great amalgamation of the 3 of them. Played one in Guitar Center and, imo, it sounds every bit as good as the Prologue. Lush, warm, digital, harsh, metallic, icy, it goes whatever you need. Crazy good deal for the price.

    Why not a Prologue for the price? For me it’s the motion sequencer. Baffling that they didn’t keep that with the Prologue.

    Really cool that you can program the oscillator like this! Would it be possible to connect the shape parameter to an envelope? That way you could probably get some nice brass sounds.

I ve Played with the Wavestate , too , and while i was amazed by its sound , at the same time i thought that it is very hard to use with other gear , in a musicial context , at least... Wondering what do you think about the Wavestate? Prost

    Hey Tim thanks for making this oscillator. Do you notice any weird noise on the multi engine when you turn engage the filter. It's really subtle, but I can only notice it once the highs are gone. There is some kind of digital upper harmonic grit that isn't musical. I noticed it with this ONE oscillator first, but I think it's in the multi engine itself. I was listening to it in a really nice studio. I can also hear it on my headphones as well which are 80 dollar Sony's. Have you noticed it? You probably have more experience with it than anyone else.

    Hi Tim! When you were going through the oscillator settings, it looked like you had one open slot left. What are the possibilities for implementing some form or distortion like bit reduction or overdrive? I'm not sure how much memory you have free to put in something like this, but I think it would add a whole other level to this oscillator. Potentially, the distortion saturation could even be modulated by the patch LFO.

    Just got an xd and it’s awesome seeing the patch and oscillator community around it. I’m a software engineer and I’m interested in messing around with the Logue SDK, but have little DSP or audio programming experiences. Any resources you used to learn?

  • @TimShoebridge

    @TimShoebridge

    5 ай бұрын

    Hi. There's plenty of DSP resources on the internet. The key to success is writing efficient code, not elegant code. Your audio processing routine is basically going to be called 48,000 times a second. To be honest I would not suggest a Logue synth as the best way to learn DSP, the ability to debug or diagnose is basically zero. Far better to learn DSP on a computer with a "soft synth" development environment.

    Hi, this sounds really good! So if I install your custom oscillator then what would happen to the presets which used the original oscillator on the minilogue? Will they start using yours, the new one? Or how does it work

  • @TimShoebridge

    @TimShoebridge

    2 жыл бұрын

    Hi. If a preset uses a user oscillator already then it references it by the location - the slot number. So as long as you install a new user oscillator into a free slot then no existing presets will be affected. You have 16 slots in total on a miniligue XD.

    Will it work on the Nu:Tekt and Prologue?

  • @TimShoebridge

    @TimShoebridge

    5 жыл бұрын

    It won't work exactly as it is but I can build a Prologue version quite easily. The issue for me is then recreating the presets because they are not transferable from the XD to Prologue. I have not yet got a Nu Tekt to play with but in principle the oscillators should work in it also with a little bit or tweaking...
