Korg Minilogue XD - Patch From Scratch - Messing around with creative sound design and synthesis

Музыка

I really enjoy making patches on synths. This video is dedicated to the Korg Minilogue XD desktop module. Just taking 3 init patches and making noise with the help of an Akai MPC One to sequence/record the three patches together at the end of the video.

This helped me a lot. It is good to see someone coming up with an init patch as a starting point and creating USEFUL AND SONGBASED sounds. This is way better than any preset noodling. This motion sequencing seems to be very powerful. I bought a Polyend/dreadbox Medusa and now I´m hooked on analog goodness. Not so much the sound but to get away from a TFT and to be braver with the experimentation. My ears tolerate a lot more than my eyes :) And I like the song making process. The character of these devices comes through and it´s not so much about the use of elaborated fx chains. This is one of the best tutorial videos for the minilogue because you show a sensible song making process . Thank you very much.

Man, the XD sounds great. I'm thinking about picking up an NTS-1 as an entry point to the 'logue synths. Also, the effects on that thing sound great. I'm also super interested in what the 'logue SDK can do. Have you checked out any of the user-created Oscillators that are available for the XD?

Thanks! Do you add reverb on mpc because of the end of the loop when you record from the Xd? I can't deal with delay or reverb on the synth because when a put it in mpc or my daw we can hear the end of the loop because of stopping effect and the reloop... You know what I mean? Cheers from Paris :)

Hi Tristan! I don't actually recall on this video. But I know the Minilogue XD has fx so I was probably just using those effects for the sake of the video. I actually like the AIR verb in MPC and have used it a fair amount. But yeah, any large lush pads with verb I'd prefer to be capture live and not chopped into loops for that very reason.

@@junny3000 That's a separate conversation - any synth can do just about anything with enough additional gear like efx, sequencers, etc. That being said, the motion sequencing on the xd is awesome and it would be an incredibly powerful update by simply adding a few (rather common these days) features like random, fwd, reverse and other sequencer playback modes - as well as the obvious - not having to add any Arturia products.

I was wondering why did you plug your midi keyboard into the mpc and then the mpc into the xd module.
