to everyone that can get the (CONTOUR NEXT) get that one. it is the Most Accurate Glucose monitor out there and I love it. the (ONE TOUCH band) which i had many in my life. has always read higher then what my Blood was Actually was Which can lead to dangerous lows, for those that want to have tight control on there blood sugars and to keep them close to normal without going over.

Just got notified I had pre diabetes by doctor , my entire family has type 2 diabetes. Thanks for the review got this to monitor my blood to hopefully prevent my self from actually having diabetes. Always saw my family testing never thought I had to do so too...sigh

You are very welcome!! It will take some time to get used to checking your blood sugars regularly but it is important as complications can happen later down the road from poorly controlled high blood glucose levels.

I recently was diagnosed with type 2 diabetes after 20yrs of not knowing that I had it. Anyway, I have had the contour next one since October of last year and it went out on me and so I'm wanting on a replacement and in the mean time I am using the one touch verio flex. This is my 2nd day of using it and I have had 7 error messages. Anyway, I have found this video to be very informative and helpful. I also viewed the video where you did a control test using the one touch flex. Could you please do a video of a control test on the contour next one? Thank you for putting these helpful videos out there for us.

Sure. I will gladly put out a video on a control test on the contour next one. I am glad my videos are helpful. If you are getting error messages on the verio, it is most likely from not enough blood on the test strip or the test strip not being put into the meter far enough. I'm torn between the Verio Reflect and the Contour Next Gen. What do you think?

I checked my blood sugar with Contour next the same morning , I went to the lab to get my aic and fasting blood sugar checked. Contour next was .3 higher than the lab . It’s reading are approximately higher than one touch verio iq .I feel the one touch verio iq is more accurate. However I agree, countour next is easier to use.

Thank u for this video I don't have the app or anything on my phone but I go by the high and low on the device and seems to work good for me my mother in law gave her one of her machine she didn't use for it until I go to the doctor check mine early and it was 198 so high but I had my a1c drawn and they said it was 6.5 so I ain't changing the stuff the number I get seem good for my stuff

Cuz for my dad he has that number for high and when it's 90 I think it's good for him

I have the same Verio meter but havent started using it yet.I have an antique older meter that is a One Touch Ultra Smart.Im not sure they even make it now.But it is super detailed and you can even enter how much insulin you use and the exercise and food you eat and do.I need to update but I guess Im in a rut.Someone said the Verio is about 20 pts off too.I dont know if that is true.Is it the Omnipod that comes with a Freestyle meter or is it the Tslim? Im not sure.

That meter of yours sounds awesome!! The old omnipod has a freestyle meter built into the pdm. Because I have the dash, the pdm is touchscreen so they give you a meter to go with it which is the contour next one meter. I love it!! Super sleek and the test strips are more affordable! :)

I also love how the Contour Next is rechargeable unlike the One Touch.

Mine is actually not rechargeable! It uses CR032 round batteries. I believe the older version of the the contour meter has a rechargeable USB adapter that can be plugged into a charging port/cube or laptop! :)

Why onetouch verio reflect shows high values compared to CGM and other meters. Even lab test

I am not sure why that happens! My dexcom can even give me falsely high values at times!

I have three of them the verio flex is not accurate my readings are usually 20 points higher or lower.

I just noticed that this morning. I have the Verio Touch Reflect and the Accu Check Guide. This morning tested with the Guide I got a 95. Went to the One touch it said 112, took it again with another finger on the one touch and it came back a 101 WTH. The One Touch App is Amazing though. I’ll continue to use the app and input my values manually from my Accu Check.

Contour next gave me 4.7 fasting while one touch gave me 5.2 fasting. Confused

The best advice I can give you is to establish a good relationship with other Type 1 Diabetics. We all certainly help each other out the best we can.

Good question. I’ve noticed both meters seem to be really good on battery usage. I only have to change my batteries out once every 6 months.

How do you charge this?? Or is this just strictly battery?

Both the meters I am showing here are strictly on batteries.

Please be careful using OneTouch. I was recently in a diabetic coma because my OneTouch meter was giving me false high readings which led to an insulin overdose. In doing research, this is not uncommon with these meters and the company has not taken responsibility or tried to warn those using their “life saving” devices. I just cannot Trust the Vario Flex anymore, it is in-accurate PERIOD !! Contour Next One OR Accu Chek Guide is the way to go for reliable / accurate results !!

I completely agree with you Lew! I only use a contour meter now if I have to check my blood sugar manually.
