Thank you so much. No one ever explained what this control solution is or how to use it. I am a new diabetic 6 months in. I’ve gone through several bottles of tests strips, not knowing I’m supposed to test them/ device. Thank you for your very clear and very informative explanation and instructions.

Good question! Yes eventually the meters need the batteries replaced. :)

Show how can used the liquid solution

Thank you for doing this video super informative and well done. One question, if the reading does not fall within the range written on the strips vial, what is what I must do? discard the strips or discard the glucose meter and buy a new one. Thank you in advance for your help.

I would discard the strips if any of them do not fall into the control solution test range!

i have never used control solution. Every six months I have lab fasting glucose test. Before going for this lab test I does a home test. If both the tests are congruent, I can assume that my glucometer is accurate.

Control solution testing is only recommended and not required, but if your lab testing and home testing are similar values, then your meter is definitely working properly for you! :)

Where do you get control solution

So if mine is really high, does that mean my machine and/or strips are not good?

Hi Mayra! Not necessarily. There are different levels of testing solution with different ranges. Some have higher ranges than others. You test with the given solution and see if it falls into the appropriate range. If it does not, that most likely means your test strips are (unfortunately) bad!

Many places sell the meters, not very many sell the test solutions.

Thanks for the video! First time user. I got a control reading for my level 3 solution of 138mg/dl. Right at the edge. Level 3 range for my test strips is 102-138 mg/dl. So, does that mean the test strips and the meter is right to go? Do I need to worry that it's at 138?

Nope. That is within the normal limits so it tells you everything is accurate 😊

Please check she fills the little line on the strip with blood otherwise it’ll show error
