Comedic timing AND delivery superb. If this reselling thing ever gets old you may want to try stand-up. Meanwhile, we are learning lots from your videos… thanks!

I find most high sell-through items will sell without promoted listings even if there is a lot of supply. Also, if you are going to price at the low end of the range you probably shouldn't promote because you will show up at the top when people rank by lowest first. I think you probably should start every listing without promotion and if it is not getting views then lower the price until it does. Remember, lowering the price by 10% nets you more than promoting at 10% because you will be also paying lower final value fees. I am now only promoting as a last resort or if the item is desirable but not necessarily something someone would search for specifically, e.g. certain collectibles.

I would add "easy to ship" to the "easy to list" criteria. The example I use is pick a book, don't pick Grandma's soup tureen. You mentioned it, #1 reason I do not do auctions is I get less (auctions just don't get the excitement they used to), #2 is I was getting at least 10% deadbeat slow pay/no pay on auctions, #3 buyers want stuff now, not 7 days from now. So buy it now gets better interest, higher prices and immediate payment.

Enjoying your newer format of sprinkling viewer questions in your weekly what sold vids! Thanks for making us chuckle regularly, too. My husband is wondering whether you double check comps when you delist/relist in order to do any other price adjustments. What is your process? Re Facebook marketplace, how do you get people to respond? We are using your search tip for current listings, but people must not really want to sell their stuff. They aren’t answering the inquiries when we express interest and try to schedule a pick up. Thanks!

There's a HUGE neighborhood sale coming up in June right near me. I've only gone once - before I was a reseller. Even though it's big, you still have to drive a good amount because it's not every other house. The pressure to make the most of it is real. I'm going to try and take it easy and whatever I get, I get. I've been using the beta version of your app, Flipwise, and by far my best returns/sales have come from random estate sale stuff. I went to one on a Sunday afternoon, family run, the second sale after a professional one a couple months prior. Walked in and thought it was going to be a dud. Mostly books. Picked one up that looked older & interesting... 25 cents turned into a $60 international sale. Dug a little more and found a few other random items and turned $20 into $150 and haven't even listed some the things yet. The community sales are tempting, though, because you're not having to drive all over the place on random days and times. They all have their pros/cons.

Hey Justin! I have had a bit of an unfortunate series of events happen over the past few weeks. 3 things that I sold were returned because they were destroyed in shipping. Im still a smaller reseller and there were fairly expensive items $70-80. And they were heavy too so this whole thing put me in the negative a lot. I filed claims and am still waiting on a decision . It would suck if they didn’t side with me because i packed this stuff very well!!

Much more competition out there, I was in Goodwill a few months ago and I heard the eBay "cha-ching" alert and reached for my phone. At the same time four other people were looking at their phones to see if it was their sale! Lately I've liked going to my Goodwill bins after 6:00 because it really thins out and people go home for dinner/evening. The Goodwill staff keep putting out new bins until 8:00 here and there are a lot fewer people. Also, don't discount your experience, so many people are new and dont't always know the value of items. My best pick of 2023 was at an estate sale an hour before closing, found e gem microscope for 12 dollars that sold for $450, hundreds of people (including me) walked right past it. It was on a low shelf, out of sight.

I feel so inexperienced but it's clear many others are too, and are looking for any clue they can get. At a flea market I was looking at two items I actually did know something about, and noticed reactions from other hunters. One I was looking at very closely for damage, and it got someone's attention who waited to see if I would put it back down. And the other, there were two similar items that someone was on the fence about one of them. I immediately grabbed the other one and suddenly he decided to get the one he was unsure about, lol.

I did almost the exact situation Thomas mentions in January to start my reselling business. It was a good way to get sales early in your career. Sundays are the best day for auctions as the most action happens. Justin mentioned the two biggest flaws. 1.Buyers not paying is REALLY annoying. 2 You may get some less value. One thing I will add though is you can add Best offer and auction the same time. So say you can start the auction at $10 but if someone really want it they can pay your buy it now option for $20

Yes it was very slow on EBay last week. I thought it was just me. Love you videos. Just returned to Ebay after a 10 year hiatus. Got into Ebay during the crash of 2008. went at it hard for four years. Boy is it so much different now, 90% of the items I searched and sold back then have no value now. Second biggest difference is You Tube videos. There are so many people doing what your doing it helps so much with research. Back then we just started to work with the Ebay App. No real good smart phones. And you had zero signal in a store. Thanks keep making me look smart.

I love a neighborhood yard sale event because I also score great stuff for my own family (not to mention plenty of baked goods and lemonade) while doing the resale grind. I definitely go in with less of a business mindset, which helps. I agree, rude reseller "pros" really turn me off, which is a big part of why I don't go to estate sales. In promoting listing I think you miss the point that sometimes ebay advertise in non-search pages like in "these might also interest you" or "more similar items", so doesnt matter if 3 or 600 are listed. It could get more impression and hence more sells. It could also act as a tool to remind a potential buyer and thus he might finally click the buy button.

My neighborhood tag sales always consists of two people: Do you have any jewelry, people? and Do you have any records, people? So I gave up looking for jewelry unless I'm the first one there. I rolled out of bed last week to be there at 8 am, luckily across the street, only to have crappy, cheap jewelry among the offerings. And some people will sell stuff that should have been tossed in the garbage and sometimes we get lucky and people will put out some good stuff for free. I much prefer online auctions.

Neighborhood garage sales I have been to often have insanely high prices. Why? Because they have had a meeting in which somebody has suggested going out and finding the highest listed (not sold) price on eBay and then telling everybody to stick to it. How do I know this? Because when I ask if they are willing to take a lower price, at every house they all say the same thing; "That's what it is going for on eBay." And nothing you can say can convince them to take a lower price. The more houses the more likely somebody has suggested that. Two to three houses seem to be the limit. After that the odds go up dramatically that that's what you are going to run into around here. If the first house says that, I don't bother going to any of the others because you can buy the same items brand new in a store for less.

I don't like neighborhood sales either, they are just as hit and miss as stand alone garage sales. I rarely go to "new" subdivisions, it's 99% baby stuff. Same with estate sales. I've waited for hours and not gotten what I was after, and I went on the last day/hour and got great items for great prices. You just never know. I think Dallas Tx is the capitol of estate sales - there are maybe 20 -30 estate sales every week during the season- and they are almost all crowded :(

I write descriptions but when it's something that needs to be read, I'll put "Read Description" in the title. An example is when I sell PS4 games that are new and sealed. I take great care in my packaging however PS4 games are notorious for game discs slipping out from their housing and just rattling around in the case. Itsva Sony defect with the clip that holds the disc. If it's open, it's easy to make the CD stay still, but new and sealed is the opposite, so I let people know in Description. There's other examples but that's one of them. You are 100% correct tho, people don't read the descriptions. I find it funny cuz I definitely read when I make purchases lol. I want to know about the item I'm buying.

Hey Justin. Fellow reseller here. I chuckled at your example of doomed inventory, and an item that has been returned multiple times. I hate returns. I go to great lengths to provide so much information in my listing and so many photographs. I feel like returns end up being the death of my eBay seller status. Twice now in the 2 1/2 year period that I have been selling on eBay, I noticed a sharp decline in sales in a very abrupt way. Only to finally get an email sometime weeks down the road from eBay letting me know that I am now back up to the seller performance standard to get traffic to my store. I hadn’t realized my status of even changed. How do they communicate those kind of things to us? So Justin, I’m newer to your channel, but have you produced an episode on how to maintain seller status with eBay to protect the level of sales and reach that you can have with an eBay for your business? I find it extremely disruptive, and disturbing that my business can perform at such a great level consistently for a long period of time, and then eBay will abruptly Throttle my traffic and kill my sales. So again, this really doesn’t have anything to do with how my sales are rated by buyers of my products. This is how eBay views me as a seller. And I’m not sure if this is a combination of number of returns, etc.

Very hit of miss for those neighborhood sales. Better to bundle it in another route to make the trip worth it.

Justin, I'm having a hard time understanding your net return. Is there any other fee included that does not appear on the scream? For example the Nike Lunarglide: $29.99 - $0.40 - $3.33 - $0.60 - $8.52 = $17.14, not the $15.14 shown on screen. There's probably another fee, I just don't know which one. Love your videos! Thanks

When looking something up with bar code you might not see any items. When it does not come up you should type in the what your searching for. Just because it does not come up by scanning the bar code it just means no one has it listed with bar code scanned.

When you decide to promote items in saturated categories do you have a set percentage? Your base is 2%. What percentage would you use to move items up higher, and do you tack this percentage to your sale price? I don't use emojis I prefer to have more room for title descriptions. I too accept returns and then relist the item. If it comes back a second time it goes in the death pile. I then attempt to figure where the issue is. Most times the item is good but didn't work in the buyer's application, such as audio HiFi or pre-amp or guitar amp. I send offers out at 10%, what percentage would you use? Does it depend on the item? I used to use "Make Offer" in my listings but have found over the past year, very few buyers send offers now. Thanks for the weekly videos. Your channel has great content. I always use 2%, and usually send out 10% offers, sometimes more depending on the item and how long I have had it and what my margins are on it.

Nah not a fan of anything crowded. Try the St Vincent’s Outlet in North County (St Louis) during the week. Not sure about weekends or when they open. Also just went to NCJW Resale shop down the street to me. Mostly clothing, good condition and priced okay since it is curated. eBay taped mirror 😂

@@justinresells Stop by the NCJW Resale Shop on the drive up. Their prices are inline with Savers (which I think is high). They do have some hard goods and a really nice shoe section. Not sure on shoe prices. SVDP Outlet - They have boxes at the front of the store. Tons of clothes in deep bins. Some days they have $.89 a pound. You might want to call and see what they can tell you. Everyone was really nice including the others shopping. Since the bins are so deep we shared what we were looking for and everyone was helping each other. Also a lot of furniture, Gaylord’s of books. Shallow bins for hard goods. It’s just north of the new Express Scripts location. Parking is good. I think it was $1.69 a pound the day I was there. HTH!

I hate them too although I find if there is other garage sales in the area I find neighborhood sales are good to draw away resellers to the individual sales in the area. People act desperate for items at neighborhood sales and its gross.

How's that label printer that you have on your description? That label printer is expensive. More money than I'd like to pay for a printer. I was hoping it'd be within the 100 to 200 dollar range. But hey if it can make the shipping and handling process quicker & easy and with little to no hassle I'd buy it. You understand, especially when you have a large quantity of items, you want to ship things fast and with minimal hassle.

@@justinresells great! Thanks I'll have to get it. One more thing, any temporary seasonal items or high demand items that you recommend? I wouldn't ask you this question just a few months ago because normally high demand items have high competition but I'm not really worried about that. In fact it's okay if the profits are low, as long as it's 10 dollars or more profit. Thought about maybe sporting goods and fitness items, car parts and some health and beauty stuff. Some fat burning vest for women or some men's hair growth products any good? Those little rolling things with needles that men use on their heads to grow hair look like hot items to sell. 🔥 any of the mentioned products good?
