Whats important when watching One Piece is to enjoy every step of the Journey. Not worry about catching up. That should be the last thing on your mind. Keep in mind, the main appeal of One Piece is NOT it's fights. It's the compelling story thats told AROUND those fights that make it amazing.

@Ariedum yeah i know, im up to date with the manga and that wano ark has been amazing. It was painful to see dressrosa episode by episode, so i waited until it was completed and came back and saw it. It was a 100 times better that way.

Trust me, the backstories in this show are so good. I watched tons of animes, but only One Piece have backstories that really hits me in the feels.

I know that this comment is a year old but I just wanted to chime in a ME TOO!!! I started One Piece 11 years ago as a depressed and suicidal 19 year old and the story and love literally saved my life. As a habitual cutter I got the Straw Hat symbol tattooed in the place where I always used to cut. I adore this show/manga more than anything in the world and I am so grateful to Eiichiro Oda!

One Piece actually doesn't have that much filler, towards the middle to end there is literally like 10 episodes of filler lol

Ehhh, a good chunk of Dressrosa is filler in the sense that the director stretched out so much stuff to keep it from catching up to the manga. Repeated scenes and 10 second long close ups made that arc nearly unbearable.

Anything of one piece is never never too long man!😁💯 and you are super right, luffy’s English voice doesn’t suit his personality and character and humor at all. None of the openings are filler arcs, less than 10 percent of the one piece series is filler by the way. And the storyline, world-building, and characters are what makes the show so so popular and keeps the fans so in-tuned to the series after 20 years. This show has the greatest world-building and story you will ever see in any shonen up to today. And the music in this series is apart of what makes it such a masterpiece of a story!!!😁💯 and one thing about one piece is that the fights are GOOD, but don’t watch it for the fights, what pulls people in to the show is the story, in this specific series, the story is the appetizer and main course while the fights are just the desert. Fights are not what makes one piece amazing like many other shows that are not as strong on story, in this show the story is what makes it!😁 great reaction so far though!

@@marbollsmb3116 early on I watched filler because I didn't realize that's what it was, later I would know since I would look at arc list with the episodes of each arc to skip the special episodes at least, even for a bit I would still watch fillers knowing they were filler but I eventually skipped like 2 because I was so excited to continue with the story I couldn't watch 3 episodes of filler in-between

he asked "what really happens aside from them looking for the treasure and fighting some people for it"...... buddy you are in for a willed ride of love, loss, gain, death, adventure, highs, lows, humor, drama, growth, and of course, family.

The world is so developed that it feels like the world really existed before the story now.

About 6 months ago One Piece was HELLA intimidating to me, so instead of watching the anime I choose to read the manga (which has faster pacing than the anime even if it has more chapters than episodes) and it only took me like, 6 months to catch up (with some breaks in between each arc) so i would recommend the manga, but if it's for that *content* than the anime ;)

I agree the manga is better TBH but they are different awesome experiences... the only detraction from the anime is how much they stretch the content...

I get that manga is a lot quicker in manga and anime has some pretty questionable decisions, but I just wanted to watch One Piece to its fullest. I wanted to watch everything for the first time with colors, with motion, with voice acting, with sound effects and with a soundtrack. It’s slower, but I’ll be more emotionally invested in it. It probably took me 2 and a half months to catch up to 981 episodes.

If you want to know more about what makes one piece such a great series and why people stick to it, I’d recommend watching two videos: “The appeal of One piece: where to start” and “why you should watch/read one piece” and they’re both by the same guy, with “the appeal of one piece” being the first of the two and slightly shorter. Both by the same guy and goes in depth of the strengths of one piece and why everyone enjoys it without spoiling anything.

One thing that I love about the straw hats is the all have a job and purpose so they none of them are useless even if they can’t fight well

One Piece openings are like the Moon. They are bright with all those smiles, those funny moments but hide an equally important dark side of the story. It's a masterpiece, that One Piece.

3 things of note 1. Filler arcs don’t have different openings from what I remember 2. Some of the openings don’t really signify the arc they’re on too much (like OP 4) 3. Some of the filler arcs aren’t too bad. I’d give them a chance if you ever catch up

@@Faxityy ya and also well this info was given on the very first episode if I remember correctly so this is not exactly a spoiler at least I don't think so, so the weird abilities that some of these guys have are because in the world of One Piece mystical mysterious fruits exist known as Devil Fruits and if you eat one you'll get the power of that fruit in exchange for your ability to swim but those fruits are very rare and Luffy once ate the gum gum fruit so he's a rubber man now just like him all the other characters with super powers are Devil Fruit ability users.

It might be an option for you, since you probably feel like reacting to the anime would be more content, but I, as many others too, think the manga is a way better experience

Oda (The autor of OP) he was 21-22 when he started OP and now he is in his 40-ish. Before OP he made 2 one shots in which his second one shot insipered the One Piece we know today. Fun fact:The one shot was called "Romance Down" and the first arc in the anime/manga is called the same way.

the best thing is seeing him so confused about 1000 sunny go flying when its prolly the most logical thing in the anime but be totally okay with luffy stretching, chopper shape shifting and other ppl with devil fruits

The main villain comes into the picture around ep 620, so it’s just them fighting different pirates before that but with extra steps

i started one piece fully in september of last year and as of like feb of this year i got caught up to where we are at in the anime. and it is so worth it and its now my second favorite anime of all time and will stay there forever EDIT: OP 23 is the best and wano has been the best arc ever

when i was a kid, my first favorite character is Sanji(blonde hair cook crewmate). the way he fights is awesome. but i dont really watch One Piece, its just a tv show every morning. now im 20yo, i saw a clip of Sanji and Luffy in Cake Island, even tho i didnt know their bond, i cried😢. that hooked me to watch One Piece. (im at Wano Arc now

Pre timeskip one piece is paced as well as the manga. Only post tineskip gets slower in anime compared to anime. Especially an arc called Dressrossa. But the story in deessrossa is so good . I loved it in the anime when I was anime only. The recent arc, does have great pace and the anime is doing better than manga recently

By dressrosa arc is where the anime was catching up to the manga by like 30 chapters, that's why it had to be slowed down from 2 chapter per episode to eventually 1 chapter per episode. I understand this concept because otherwise they would have had one piece on a hiatus for maybe a year until they started the anime series on production again. I would have preferred it this way if we get animation like how it was on episode 957 but now we only get them when it is an episode with crazy information.

@@atastycloud ikr. I loved dressrosa anime . I don't care if it's slow if good story is going on. I hope they go with a mild filler arc after wano. They are catching up again

I know a lot of openings seem filler-ish but one piece doesn't actually have much filler. The openings kind of act more as a "watch the crew have a fun time" because (semi spoiler alert) they rarely get time to relax throughout the story.

@@Faxityy Forgive my late reply, but One Piece definitely in my opinion only gets better, I'd say if you make it past the initial 70 episodes, youre going to enjoy the show, the first 70 are more character based and introduce you to the world, it's a little slower, but man does it reward you for watching through the show, the current arc is not only stunning visually, but the story line is peak. Hope you get into it, but it's not for everyone, good luck!
