The situation with Nami trying to help her village is arguably even more emotional in the original series where everyone in the village DOES realize what she's trying to do for them, but they play along and pretend like they don't and pretend to hate her so Nami won't feel like they're all counting on her. That way if she ever decides it's too difficult and wants to just cut and run, she won't feel obligated to stay for them 😭 Also, her sister Nojiko's tattoos were something she got in solidarity with Nami after having the Arlong tattoo forced on her.

It's more tragic in the live action because she has no one. Not even Nojiko knows the truth. But it's more emotional in the manga because everybody knew but they pretended not to know, just in case Nami wants to give up and run forever. Both scenarios are good imo
@jefferyardis9163

Dude I thought they dropped off on that. It makes the back story hit harder
Mihawk is not a villian, he is just a goal for Zoro. The guy isn't killing innocents and raiding towns. He is just the strongest sworsman in the world and and ends up being target for others
Nami's backstory was like 5x crazier in the anime but they still did really well with it here. Also Emily Rudd fucking OWNED that "Help me" scene. That moment is one of the most beloved moments in the series and she knew that. She had a big responsibility there and knocked it out of the park
I am SO glad that they did the “Help me” scene the justice it deserves. It’s one of the most iconic moments of the entire East Blue Saga, and both actors clearly recognized that and gave phenomenal performances.
Nami's "help me" scene is the most iconic scene in the anime/manga, once you see it, you're a One Piece fan for life
Nami got me emotional when she broke down and even ask for help. He showed how much he cared for her just by putting the hat on Nami. I love this show. It has so much heart.
Probably the most iconic moment in the early parts of the anime/manga of one piece was nami asking for help and the live action did a excellent version of it.
Amazing acting by Emily Rudd. Nami's backstory is such a tragic one. Her asking Luffy for help, Luffy putting his hat (his treasure) on her head, and the zoom out revealing the whole crew is one of the most iconic moments in anime, and this live action did a phenomenal job bringing that to life!
The conversation between Garp and Zeff is so well done. Their thoughts on Luffy being so much like Gold Roger was very wholesome, and they both were having a great time talking to one another.

Most One Piece fans would agree that Nami's arc is when the story really picks up, and you can see why. For people who start One Pieces with the anime or the manga, I'd say most of us old fans would recommend to reach Nami's arc and then decide wether or not you'd continue the journey. The live action did an amazing job adapting the "Help me" scene, everyone from the actors to the writers to the costume and set and prop designers: everyone deserves a round of applause for what they did 👏

In the anime Nami stabbing the Arlong pirates tattoo on her arm was farrrrrr more graphic......it was super bloody and highly dramatic....she stabbed that tattoo so many times it HURT the viewer just to watch.......you could really feel the hatred she has for him and she MENTALLY SNAPPED in that moment. The live action, kept it modest in comparison and yet it conveyed so well to viewers Nami's state of despair. I thought the live action did it justice without being as graphic as the anime. Nami's actress, Emily, did a PHENOMENAL performance and accurate interpretation of her character.
1:50 they are not oranges. They're tangerines. And yes, there is a difference and no, I don't know what the differences are. 18:20 actually, in the manga and anime, she did tell Nojiko and Nojiko told the whole village. The village decided to play the part of hating Nami so in case something were to ever happen, she wouldn't feel tied down by the village. So she can leave without feeling guilty. Also the whole reason Nojiko has her tattoos is to make Nami feel better about being branded by Arlong's flag.
Last scenes with nami us where 95% fans started to like the show. Then it skyrocketed

Robin is by far the most saddest one and Brooke was by far the most horribly depressing one. Both of their backstories can break a person. Its not without purpose that her "I want to LIVE" is one of the greatest scenes in the show.

Garp is a hundred percent not the kind of guy who would take care of Roger (of all people)'s kid! Preposterous
So an interesting thing to note about this scene is that at this point in the anime and manga, Luffy has never met Arlong. He had literally spent this entire arc doing his own thing away from everyone. He didnt hear a second of Namis tragic past. He doesnt know anything about Arlong. He just knows Nami, trusts her and in this moment he sees her breaking down and realizes he has to help. But he wont do anything until he hears it from her first. He just needs those two words and he'll fuck up anybody. I fucking love the "Help Me" scene so much and i cry like a bitch every time i see it. Its a masterpiece of fiction.
The actress who plays Nami's sister had some really nice acting moments. She's also absolutely gorgeous and has great screen presence. I hope we get to see her again.
I have shed a tear at pretty much every episode but I cried the most with Nami’s breakdown
I appreciate the commentary on the big "of course I will" line because in most other contexts it just does not work. Even in the anime it strikes a bit awkward at first, but it's absolutely something Luffy would do in that moment so it fits. There's something so powerful about how Iñaki does the slow walk with the mean face as the music continues to swell in the background. This is the most important scene in the entire season and to say they crushed it would be an understatement
Very proud of Emily Rudd getting me to cry every time I watch this episode. That scene and the walk to Arlong Park, with all the crew members stood waiting for Luffy, this was all so well done
That "help me" scene is iconic and I'm so happy with what they did in the live action. Even knowing what's gonna happen, it still hit hard.
The scene you guys were gushing about is known among the Fandom as "The walk to arlong park" and it's the moment for lots of fans where the series went from good to "I ❤ this series". It's definitely one of the more iconic moments.
Arlong and his crew just chilling with music was way funnier than I thought
That Nami scene was perfect - I actually got teary-eyed. 😢

The one I’ve been waiting for. The moment in the og anime that made most people fans of One Piece. Let’s get it.
I love just like in the anime. Luffy didn't know the details of Nami's story and what is going on but when he saw her he still did that to her. I love how they did captured that.
Garp is not a villain😭😭😭 He is nicest guy there is
This show is so great with its characters! The ending with Luffy and Nami was so great and emotional! 👍
"Help me" is easily one of the most iconic moments from the series and it's really cool seeing it had that same impact on folks with this adaptation
The actors that played Arlong and Mihawk did a excellent job. Especially Arlong. Did great job acting through the prosthetics.
As a long time one piece fan, I knew the “help me” scene would hit people in the feels… glad to see people are enjoying it and the show did it Justice
Arlong is just a small fish in a vast ocean of big monsters. These monsters are the real deal and among these monsters , the seven warlords reign at the top, Mihawk is one of them. That's why they didn't introduce Arlong early in the series, in fect in the manga Arlong was not introduced in Baratie, he was introduced way latter
I've read and watched One Piece for a long time and think they did a fantastic job adapting it to live action. But it's extra awesome to see the show through your eyes and seeing you react to the adaptation without prior knowledge! 👍❤ Also, it's been like 30 minutes since you posted this one... C'mon! Publish the finale! Send it! 😄
The moment of Luffy putting his precious treasure, the Straw Hat, on Nami's head as a promise to go and save her treasure - ya know, the Village! Gets me every damn time! This moment means so much more now, guys, y'all will get there 😁 And once again, YT didn't let me know that y'all were to one of my most beloved series live adaptations. But I'm here now!
Garp is Luffy's real grandfather his name is Monkey D. Garp. They are blood related.
The backstories only get sadder from here. Chopper and Robin’s backstories are truly heartbreaking
I’ve always wanted to watch the One Piece anime but it always had that over 1000 episode intimidation to it but after watching this live action series it made me a fan. That next season better come quick!
The "Luffy ,help me " scene is one of the most iconic from the anime . They nailed it . The feels are real . The shot of the guys waiting is exactly replicated , every pose .
In the manga and anime, the whole village knew what Nami was up to. Nami's sister worked it out, and she told everyone else in secret. They just pretended not to know because they didn't want Nami to feel the pressure of everyone putting their hopes on her. They wanted to leave her the option of leaving, and not feel the pressure to keep coming back. The "Luffy....help me..." scene is straight out of the manga though, almost shot for shot. It's wonderfully done.
I love seeing people who started seeing One Piece with the show because it's fun to see them theorizing about the things we already know and being eager to see them find out later that they were right/wrong. Good video guys!
The music and acting was on point, so was the reactions. Cery enjoyable ty guys! 😁
Thank you guys for reviewing this I'm really enjoying it and also the live action anime itself they are doing an amazing job so far.
1 Arlongs motivations and reasong was added in the live action, His real reason to be rage for fishmen were not expanded on until way later season/arc. At this point in the manga, along was just supposed to be a villain who was there to serve Nami's backstory. One piece uncovers the world slowly not dumps to much information instantly. Discrimination is not an easy subject to digest for people who are watching One piece for fun. So it was brought up slowly in manga but in LA they are coming out straight away
That “of course I will!” Scene !!! 🤯🤯❤️
This is now the third type of media where I've seen the Help Me scene and it has gotten me every time.
I am a huge fan of the anime and I was blown away by how good this is. It feels surreal to me.
The help me scene is probably one of the best moments in One Piece. Manga, anime or live action, it was so good Some people become a huge one piece fan when that moment hits. Nami asking for help is the greatest One thing i didn't like about that last moment is Luffy screaming "You bet i will". It's probably better if they didn't include it, Luffy can just say "You bet i will" in a quiet way. And then they make a move
@NikstSWE

Agreed. They should save those type of outbursts for when Luffy is happy. Which is when he has previously had them. He is not happy now so seemed a little out of place for an outburst like that.

Man I love your reactions! I know the anime is super long but after your reactions and seeing how much you love the live action it would be so cool seeing you react to the anime!
I've watched the help me scene many times on the anime, read it a lot in the manga and watched it in the live action in many reactions as well as a couple of views on my own. Always makes me teary
I love you guys as discussions after each episode. Great video Can't wait for the next one.❤
Luffy Garps biological Grandson, Garp raised and trained Luffy. Luffy father is someone we might see in season two but how they handle his introduction might be intresting.
"You get a tragic backstory! And you get a tragic backstory! And you are extra special, so you get two! Even some villains get a tragic backstory!"
No matter what any fan says, the "Luffy, help me." scene was what hooked us on the series, its beyond iconic and I love how perfect this scene was.
The shot with all all of them on screen is just perfect!you should see the anime and the manga because it perfect❤️
You guys are in for a hell of a FINALE!
The help me scene, followed by Luffy screaming and then the shot of him, Zoro, Sanji and Usopp, wether it's in the manga, anime, live action and even the various One Piece games I played, it always gives me goosebumps.
Loved the reaction, excited to see more. Ireally enjoyed the after-talk, it was really interesting. BTW, you guys, Garp is a Vice-Admiral of the marines AND he is the one who was strong enougth to hold his own against Gold Roger, he is not exactly one to be taken lightly lmao
When I first watched the scene, I was so pumped, I jumped out of my chair and put my fist in the air shouting “of course he will”!!!

This is one of the episode that i will keep on crying. Loved it ❤
Gold Roger's Death was 22 Years Ago. Luffy's Current Age is 17 years old. So, No. Gold Roger is not Luffy's Father.
“I love this fish hop” 😭😂😂😂😂
As a long time One Piece fan it is beautiful to see new fans react this way. 💙💀💙
I think a lot of Nami not wanting help from Luffy is that she really didn't think he could beat Arlong. I think something the show doesnt do well is how merciless/strong Arlong was. He was killing marines, he was beating literally everyone who came to remove his threat. That is why Nami thought her ONLY chance was to buy the village.
Eps 6-8 are my favourites. Ranked 7, 6, then 8
Y'all need to upload the emxt reaction asap! So hyped
that last scene between nami and luffy is even more powerful in the anime in many ways especially bc luffy in the og story actually did not know anything what was going on in the village, he literally fell asleep before any backstory happens. and because of how powerful the anime made it and how iconic this scene is for almost all op fans, i was the most afraid of seeing this scene being butchered in the live action. so when i saw how great it turned out i was beyond joyful. they really delivered on every single front. seeing not only old fans but new fans being this engaged and into the series is the most amazing thing. your reactions have been my fav to tune into, you guys are so genuine about being into the it. great reaction and comments all over.
Oh, now that you mention that abt Arlong and how his role comes across, I think I appreciate how they handle his arc's adaptation for the live action a little bit more.
The scene with nami and luffy is what’s one piece is all about!! absolutely love it
Arlong's motive was a parallel to how Fishmen felt, from a 35% story completion. In the manga/anime he was just shown as Fishmen are superior...but why he wants to get back at humans, it was not cleared so early. It wasn't even there then, he was just a bad guy early on. Later on when one gets to understand fishmen more, and see Arlong had depth, then it feels like a full circle.
Btw the sweater doesn’t look bad in place of merch, looks flattering on u man the build is coming through 💪
This is one of most heart breaking arcs in the anime, and the live action has done a great job with it, given the time constrictions.
the scene of nami asking for help is what alot of people say really got them hooked into the anime, so they needed to nail it, and they got it so well
This show is so good! Don’t know anything about the anime but this show made me realize why it is loved by many.

When you see someone become a One Piece fan in front of your eyes. 😊
The music was among the bestestest aspects of the show. The music during the "Help me" scene and Sanji's jazz theme were phenomenal.
even in anime, this scene is damn strong in early 2000s, i remember i was like 8 or 9 watchin this and i cried for a long time

Love all these theories about who might be related to Gold Roger. Aces to you, top marks
Loved this series, would be amazing if they reacted to the anime too. We need it!🙏🏼🙏🏼🙏🏼
The "Help Me" scene of legend!
They don’t have the option of stretching out the back story and motivation reveals in this series. There are so many named characters in the series and every arc has someone’s background, be it a new main character or an island plot character like the little dog walking behind the mayor at the end of episode 2. (He’s only an Easter egg in the live action, but he has a small story arc that helps establish Luffy’s view of treasure and how he values his straw hat.)
These flashbacks hit hard man😭 5:33 jokes aside.. He loves the anime so much. It's basically his foundation.
that whole stabbing scene is iconic from the manga and the anime, i had chills when that whole sequence was adapted even the rest of the crew waiting for luffy to walk up and and him giving nami his hat
that "that's what twice as many means" killed me, I never realized how stupid that back and forth was until now XD
So funny hearing theories people had 20 years ago, lol. Very cool.
The 'Help Me' scene is very famous in the fandom. It and the Arlong Park Arc in general are considered when the One Piece really BECOMES One Piece. And it is the moment that a lot of fans (myself included) cite as the moment they truly fall in love with the series. It's to the point I've watched reactions to it and you can SEE something click in people's eyes

The endin scene is easily one of the top scenes of early One Piece (or really One Piece in general depending on who you ask), and I'm _so_ glad they did it justice here!
