I am sorry to see you going through this. You have such a great support system behind you. I do agree that animals know when you are going through a tough time. When my dad had cancer his dog never left his side. He was with him until the day he passed, and after my mom could tell how hard it was on him(the dog). You are the mominator, you are strong, you have faith, you have great kids, so just work on getting better.

Oh Julie. Bless your heart! I have two plates and 20+ screws in my left arm. It was not an easy recovery, BUT I just spent three hours this morning playing volleyball. Be patient with yourself and kind. You'll be power lifting again before you know it! 💕

I was not referred to a specific surgeon either. The orthopedist was suggested just happened to be on call the day after when I went to a second emergency room.

Prayers for You. I Hope You Feel Better Soon. My Son Had Broken His Thumb and Wrist mowing my lawn when We lived in Philadelphia than When We moved to Delaware He Dislocated His Shoulder. That was Very Very Painful. Took him to Hospital and They had to put it back in.

You're doing so well. I'd be a wreck! I didn't realize people had to wait in this way for surgery. I assumed its done right away. So naive of me! I don't know what would happen with me because I am allergic to metal and also can't have lots of pain meds due to stomach issues. Anyway I wish you the best healing. You're amazing!!

It depends on what hospital you go to. Some operate all night if they are level 1. Smaller local hospitals don't. Also, the car insurance should cover the medical costs. You bill it different.

You need to get surgery at an Intermountain hospital and talk to a a financial person. You can get a write off due to circumstances and you need to talk to family, friends, bishop to get help. While mine was a shoulder tear I completely understand the financial, physical, family burden it is. Prayers!!!

IHC has financial aid. With eight kids and your circumstance, look into it. I have had 2 knee surgeries this year and they helped me pay for both.

Ouch julie. Ive had many brakes. One of the first things i did on my last brake which was my elbow in 2020 just after the first lockdown ended here in the UK was cut my hair short. I am lucky my hair grows quick so i wasnt worried but i knew id not cope trying to tie it up. As i was still in lockdown because of my chest. So even when lockdown lifted for others it didnt for me.

I had a very similar injury in August. I fell and landed on that hand. I also had the Ulna (the other bone) come all the way thru the skin. I had to have the same surgery and was in the hospital for four days. It has now been two and half months and I am healing pretty well. Hang in there, it will get better!!

Hello from Vancouver Island Canada! I am a new subscriber and your family is so helpful to your needs. They are a beautiful bunch of joy. I had a bad accident involving a car as well. I was 14 years old and my friend and I were walking across a busy highway at a crosswalk with a light. The walk sign was on but before I could get to the other side it changed. I did not expect that the car in the far lane would go so all I remember was a big push and I was on the ground. The older woman driving thought she killed me. I had a dislocated knee, hip, shoulder and elbow. I was in a half body cast for about 6 weeks. The lady gave me lots of presents when she came to visit in the childrens hospital. I did get quite a large settlement for that time era. it helped pay for physio therapy and medication. Now I suffer from arthritis from time to time.

Kia Kaha (stay strong) Julie!! All the best for the surgery tomorrow, all will be good!!! My 13 yr old just had a plate put in 7 weeks ago in her forearm where she broke two bones(1 being ultra nasty) The ortho surgeon didn't even want to risk it not healing properly so best decision all round..

It is indeed a very nasty break, but the surgeon was confident that he would be able to take care of it. Having a plate and screws in your wrist is not a big deal. After surgery, after it heals, you won’t even know it’s there, and it won’t limit your activity. Time to put on your big girl panties, and omg, calling yourself an invalid is really more than a bit overboard. And saying that you somehow have to look presentable for your parent’s party….um,this party isn’t about you. It’s about them. How you look is not the point. Financially,you need to merely set up a payment plan. As long as you are paying every month, all is fine. There is no amount that is too low.

Where we live we don't have the option of just paying say $5.00 per month, they expect more unless you apply for financial aid. Just a little insight for you. Have a blessed day 😊

I have one of those ice machines for my ankle when I had my ankle replaced! it was great!

Also take the medicine when you are supposed to because the pain after is excruciating. I had the same surgery and it took 5 months to get back to normal. You got this.

Julie ive been in and out of casts since i was 10 im 41 now. One thing ive learned is peas wrapped in a towel laid over cast helps with pain n swelling
