You knew the right questions to ask Julie. You had a great surgeon. I have an upset stomach now too just watching all this. I am pretty tough too. I can't imagine how hard all this is for you. Don't overdo it. I know you. Lol. You will make great progress. Keep eating good like someone else has said so you can gear faster. I want you to know I am so proud of you. It is good to feel the emotions and know they are okay. Like you said this will make you stronger. This has also made your kids stronger. Now go and get some snuggles and loves from your kids and furry kids.

When I was 20 years old I had an accident where I lacerated my right forearm severing tendons and nerves. After surgery where the doctor reconnected everything they put me in a gutter cast that was placed around my wrist up to my shoulder. When they finally removed the cast I felt like I couldn’t move my hand. They did not send me to any kind of therapy. I decided I would try to do some dishes in my sink using really warm water. I found so much relief that I kept doing it every day and rehabilitated myself. Just wanted to share my story with you. By the way when this happened my baby was only a month old... Take care and get well soon. 😊

I had a very similar injury after a motorcycle accident. But I had double open fractures. One of the worst injuries three different surgeons have seen. The tops of both my radius and my ulna were blown off into pieces. It’s been two years and five surgeries. The worst injury I’ve had. My life is forever changed. But finally starting to normalize. Best of luck to you! It’s gonna be a long road but I promise it gets better. Sending you healing love

I fractured my wrist, shattering my radial head with a very similar plate with nine screws, 5 in the radial head and 4 in the shaft. Surgery was 7/6/22 and I, too, experienced a lot of pain. My fingers and hand were very sore with swelling and stiffness. Once I started PT, though painful, I began to improve in movement, range of motion and strength. Today I am still in PT, but remarkable recovery. Please know that it does take time and is painful, but God will help you recover. It is really amazing how our bodies heal. I am a bit further along than yourself in recovery, but you will get there, I promise!

Been through this twice, with both arms. One got a plate, other one got pins and screws. And the one that got pins and screws? They wanted to pull those out of my flesh, with pliers, in the doctors office, with no pain relief. After they got the wire removed- I said STOP!! It hurt! I posted on Facebook and called my right arm during healing process “zombie flesh” because my arm looked dead. The plate doesn’t hurt, neither do the screws. I have those in left arm, can’t tell a difference. You will heal just fine. Just start using those fingers. Get some motion back in fingers, hand, wrist. Just no picking up anything heavier than a cup of coffee. You will be fine.

Biofreeze is amazing, maybe you can start something like that soon (cooling gel that helps with pain), since your initial cast is off; I have a chronic illness that causes all my tendons to be loose, my mom gave me this and certainly is helpful, especially if you're like me and don't want to take tylenol all day for the rest of your life, ice tells your body to heal, and now you have an excuse for more pizookies (more fat intake will help your nerves to heal and body to heal). I was doing hand therapy this year, for Ehler's Danlos Syndrome (pain in all my joints, from typing and doing whatever), really amazing that hand therapists exist, looks like the exact same set-up and you'll love PT, I hope!!

I can so relate. I broke my wrist in a car accident. I was bruised from the tip of my fingers over my shoulder and a little on my chest. I broke 3 bones, shattered 2 more. Trust me when I tell you, it HURT. When I started P.T. I left crying but each time, got better. I found when I showered, and came out, I could do a little more, movement. It takes time, but it will all work out in the end.

I can remember when I woke up from my knee surgery thinking I would be going home with a brace on instead I woke up in a hospital room with a cast up to my thigh. When I went in for my 2 wk check up all they did was cut out a window to remove the stitches then taped it back and removed the cast another 8 wks later. Scary skinny, hairy and dry skin all I wanted was to go and soak my leg for hours. Good luck on a fast and full recovery

Hi, I hope that ur wrist is healing well. I fell in the snow and knocked my bone out of place in my right wrist. I broke one bone and shattered one on March 28 2023. I had my cast taken off today and now I have a splint but I’m not undterstanding why the splint is not covering the injured broken part of my wrist…the Velcro is there but I’m going to the doc tmrw to see if I can get another kind of splint. Since it’s been months that ur wrist is healing, how is the mobility of ur hand and wrist. Is it almost back to normal? Have a very well recovery.
