"The higher fidelity that negates gods and raises rocks." This book helped me find happiness after I left the mormon cult. I think Camus saved my life. I use the phrase "that alone is enough to fill a man's heart" so much that I forgot where I got it from. Thank you for leaving this paragraph, especially so that people don't get the wrong idea about the myth of sisyphus. It's not about necessarily about pain and suffering, it's about a complicated and absurd joy.

@@trentlangford9050 I'm proud of you. The world may seem like it's miserable, but it's also the most beautiful thing you have. It's up to you to make the world a better place, it's your personal responsibility to increase happiness in our mortal lives, because nothing else will come fix it for you, nothing else can come do it for you, but you have that freedom, and you had that power in you all along. Don't let anybody convince you that atheism/nihilism are sad, because they're simply a reflection of the universe as it is in front of us, and those people are just projecting their own fear of death and existential drear onto you. But you need to be above that, pick up your boulder and cling to your will to live, and show them how beautiful life itself can be. Our planet is just a stone, but every atom of that stone forms a world. "This universe henceforth without a master seems to him neither sterile nor futile." You are your own master now, the world is your world. Excuse me for trying to be poetic, I'm having fun. Anyways. Joseph Smith was a con man, he had a long history of scams. The book of mormon has had revisions through the years, why did the most perfect book change?? Brigham Young also said a ton of wild stuff about the sun, moon, and aliens. They weren't speaking with god. Mormonism is just a culty megachurch. Walk away from it and find happiness in your own life, without being told how to get it by a charismatic figure. Also I know music suggestions are usually really annoying to get, but the band Animal Collective (members: Avey Tare, Panda Bear, Deakin, Geologist) makes music with the recurring theme of "Life is surreal and beautiful, and I am just happy to share a room with you," and you might find some of it healing idk. Their lyrics are relatable on an instinctual animal level, it's such a pure extension of interpersonal love, maybe there's something there that will help you feel like life is wonderful. "Kinda Bonkers" if you will (that's one of their songs). TLDR, congrats on leaving mormism! And if you ignore all the useless dribble I said, at least hear this: I promise you, leaving that abominable church will be so life changing, it will the best single best decision you ever made. And I am so glad for you!!!

The fact a lot of these GIFs show the guy stopping at the midpoint once the boulder rolls down seems kind of odd to me. The point of 'Sisyphus is happy' is because he's depicted as still going back to push the boulder It's not that Sisyphus is glad to be in a bad situation, it's that in spite of it, he always goes back to try again.

I actually really like watching the boulders roll down. I'm conflicted on how the game should play. On one hand, gamers love feedback and succeeding at goals, so making it possible to beat or leaving a leaderboard makes it "fun". I liked the idea that "One must imagine sisyphus happy" comes in the form of unlocking stickers to put on the rock, like how "Getting Over It w/ Bennet Foddy" turns the cauldron more gold with every win. But on the other hand, the journey to the height should be enough to fill a man's heart, and so I think the best sisyphus game will have a theoretically infinitely tall mountain but the only reward you get for getting really high is that the rock gets much louder, much faster, there's a lot more particle effects, and then a very large area is provided for the rock to keep momentum and continue rolling when it reaches the bottom. You should be thinking "Wow that thing is truckin'! It's really going out there... That's gonna take a while to get..." But with a smile the whole time, like the smile you get after blowing something up for fun.

A visitor? Hmm… Indeed, I have slept long enough. The kingdom of heaven has long since forgotten my name, and I am EAGER to make them remember. However, the blood of Minos stains your hands, and I must admit… I'm curious about your skills, Weapon. And so, before I tear down the cities and CRUSH the armies of heaven… You shall do as an appetizer. Come forth, Child of Man… And DIE

Camus refers to a moment that he calls “the pause”, in which Sisyphus watches the boulder roll down the hill and begins his descent. Camus believes that in this pause Sisyphus becomes aware that, “there is no higher destiny, or at least there is but one which he concludes is inevitable and despicable.
