I keep coming back to this song, man, its great. I have to ask where and how you learned to play this genre of music-- its really what I'm into, and I want to play as well as you. What can I do?

Thanks for the kind words David. I would start with some classic early 60's Willie Nelson recordings to get a sense of The Nashville Sound. Also mid 60's Buck Owens and might as well throw in a little Ray Price just for safety :)
