If you are in training as an Anglican minister you are doing very well, but you should only have 3 point which sound the same or start with the same letter. You’ve done the second part brilliantly. I’ve just noticed this was 3 years ago so expect you have had your first curacy and well versed now. I still remember my dad’s ‘sin spreads, spoils and separates’ !

Please tell Dr. Randall that he's such a blessing. Hope to be able to meet him in person someday! Hahaha. He's a great teacher! He's teaching and at the same time he's preaching!! It strongly ministers to me. Had to unlearn a lot and learn new from him (interpretation,etc).

Really good summary. I agree with a lot of your points. I would like to say a few things about Job and the speech of God. 47:47 - "I am unqualified to understand the part I play in the story of God." True, but this wasn't God's main point, because Job already understood that. (Job 9 v4-12) "You assume you are on equal footing with him" This is the gamble Job makes, he risks being misunderstood. He does not assume he is on equal footing with God. (Job 9 v20) God actually coming to speak with Job shows this divine humility that even though God doesn't have to answer, God does. God assumes Job can handle his own line of questioning. Jobs confidence doesn't come from his own pride or ignorance. His confidence comes from a series of ideas that build onto one another, ideas Job discovers in his suffering. First, that Job must be of some value to God (Job 7 v17). Then that the righteous will not be forgotten (Job 13 v16) There is a hope of Resurrection (Job 14 v7-9 and v13) His blood will cry out and a heavenly witness will vouch for him (Job 16 v18-19) The redeemer lives (Job 19 v23-25) And it goes on. You will notice that all of these are external to Job, not based in his pride or arrogance. Job is very careful about this, but obviously runs the risk of being misunderstood. His friends can't see what he is doing. This is the foundation of the case that Job builds. You have to understand that his integrity is not visible, it is hidden, and he is trying with all that he can to make it visible. He is also perplexed by God. Like Job's integrity, God's wisdom is also not visible. It is hidden and obscured. With the same fervor that Job defends his hidden integrity, God defends his hidden wisdom. Just as Job risks being misunderstood, God risks being being misunderstood. God is speaking Job's language, matching his energy, meeting him where he is, face to face. In divine humility and in love for his servant Job. The pinnacle of Job's speech is his negative confession in Chapter 31. He doesn't dare make his case about all the works he had done, which were many and great. Greater than anyone else in the East. Instead he says what he did NOT do. He lists all the sins that he did not commit and the list does not leave any gaps. God on the other hand comes to show what he has done. He puts everything on display. He asks Job to consider and measure and inquire about EVERYTHING. And you know what? Job is comforted. Job knows. Job sees. How? How is Job comforted? Job used to do the same thing back in the day. In chapter 29 it says that at the city gate the nobles and princes would gather together to sort out their disputes. Just imaging all these men. There was lots of talks and fuss. Maybe some arguing. Jockeying of authority, insight, and wisdom. But when Job showed up, everyone stopped. their tongues stuck to the roof of their mouths. They made way for him and he would take his place among them. Then he would speak. His words. Like rain. Their ears were blessed and their eyes approved. They would wait to hear everything he had to say. I verse 25 Job says "I chose their way and sat as chief, and lived like a king among his troops, like one who comforts mourners." This is exactly what God does to him and his friends. God's words are like rain.

Dr. Randall, i enjoy your videos and studying alongside them. I noticed in this video on Job you didn't mention anything about God not rebuking/correcting Elihu...God did rebuke Eliphaz and his TWO friends but Elihu isnt mentioned by God. It would seem that Elihu's statements weren't incorrect - what do you think?

Can we prove ourselves to God without any tests within our "Test"? Can we grow into something "Good",...without ourselves "Learning from Problems" or "Situations caused by Problems"? ...Or "Creating Problems"? Or possibly "God raising us through using a "Wonderful World of Problems"? I really hope that my "Words" don't cause you any "Problems". But if they did, "Would it really be a Problem"? I honestly don't remember learning anything that didn't have something to do with a "Problem". Is that really a "Problem"??? ....God bless.

Job fell from the grace of God because he had a great fear that had grown through the years and thought he could keep it secret from God and God made him face his worst fear and overcome it ... a just man will fall seven times ... but will rise back up ... Job was a just man... Remember... Job said " the thing I feared the most is come upon me... that which I was afraid of is upon me"... You can't be close to God and have any fear in your heart... fear is the opposite of love... fear is what distances you from God ... from people ... Job was richly blessed in the end... he finally got something he always wanted in his heart.... he finally knew God

If that were true the Bible would not have recorded that he was a righteous man and when God spoke He said Jobs friends were wrong about this happening to him because of sin therefore your theory cannot be true.

I am not so sure… At around 41 minutes, Pastor Randy talks about people putting their theology onto situations without considering the sovereignty of God. He also talks about earlier in the session about how basically Job’s friends think as such “be good, get good”. Your explanation sounds a lot like this. And it also sounds a lot like the law of attraction which is new age/new thought oriented and not biblical. Seems like too eisegesis going on in your comment.

The only reason the story is in the Holy Bible is because Job said " Oh that my words were now written ! Oh that they were printed in a book " "That they were graven with an iron pen and lead in the rock forever! (Job 19:23-24) So God gave Job the desire of his heart "Delight thyself in the Lord and he shall give you the desires of your heart" (Psalms 37:4) If Job never said that out of his heart... his story and his words would of never been in the Holy Bible for a handful of reasons...

I have a question: where did Job meet these friends with different opinions and did they know one God ?? because first friend is a descendant of Esau. So I was reading his speech and other friends they sound like Ishmsil' s or Easau descendants.

What about the useless sentiment that people tell you when they say “it could be worse “ or “other people are dealing with a lot worse “?

I’m curious if this one could be written during the time of Adam and Eve 🤔 Which in itself would be accepting a lot of presumptions-because no one seems to acknowledge that man is inherently sinful, i.e. there is no one who is “good.”
