Once Upon a Time in the West was my Dad's favourite movie, said the music deserved an Amen at the end. He was a 1st day Iwo Jima vet, full campaign, never the same. I rarely saw him, he drove a cab 3 hours from me and my mother. Morricone was a genius.

A weird, but fond, memory tied tied to this song from many years ago: Waking up to my dad impatiently knocking on my bedroom door. We had planned to go flying model airplanes that day. And this song was playing on the radio when I got up... For some reason it struck in my mind.

Beautiful and soulful. There are those who can’t understand why so many are mesmerized by it. So sad they miss the connection

I have watched this movie at least a hundred times and it is the same every time. I cannot explain why it has meant so much to me over the years but it is like an addiction every time I get a chance to watch it. It is seared in my memory!

It was good acting and a great crew of actors.

Incredibly beautiful, poignant, moving, great. Ennio Morricone was one of the great, possibly the greatest film - music composers in history. I have tears in my eyes.

I saw this movie in the theater in Toronto when I was 9 yrs old! My mom took me and somehow sneaked me in. Lol! I fell in love with both the movie and the music. Today Leone's 4 classic westerns are still my top 4 fav films, and I'm now 61 years old.

This brings me unbelievable peace. The orchestra and Claudia, it's just beautiful. ❤

Years from now Moriconni and his music will be talked about in the same Way as Mozart is nowadays. Let there be no doubt in anybodies mind about this. An absolute Legend. Was lucky enough to see him perform live once. Greatness as Greatness is.

I saw this film in its original release and appreciated it as a good western with Henry Fonda as the most villainous character ever. As the years have passed, I’ve come to love the work of Sergio Leone the masterful creator of the best western ever filmed, in my opinion and, of course Morricone’s masterpiece of a score. I’m so glad he lived long enough to be acknowledged by the MPSAA with his second Oscar for his many fantastic film scores.

I don’t understand how the musicians can keep those straight faces, I know they are focused on their playing but man I would be getting goosebumps and crying all the time...

The human voice can be thought of as the ultimate melodic instrument, it has the ability to translate thoughts and feelings into sound. The voice is capable of a huge variety and depth of expressions, with the human voice, thought almost equals sound.

This Morricone theme has moved me since I've first heard it...This version is basically flawless, and Claudia Couwenbergh has rare ability to hold that beautiful note through the change, at 1:12, she holds it! Most other singers break for a breath at that spot, compare, even the incomparable Susanna Rigacci has to pause for breath there! IMHO this is the way it should be sung, and echoes the original version as I recall it! Absolutely haunting and stirring, a heavenly composition from a Master!

This is a beautiful song and the movie gave us an idea of how the railroad was built. The movie is true to form. It did not try to sugarcoat the issue of the hardships and the sacrifices our forefathers had to go through in order for us to be able to sit on a train and go from Chicago to Los Angeles in two days when it took them months. These are the small things we need to be thankful for.
