    Jenson Button said this car is very efficient at cornering thanks to the huge engine torque, but lacked top speed due to its rear spoiler. You can actually in this video see that indeed after cornering at Arnage, Rockenfeller manages to stay on the tail of a LMP2 before eventually losing top speed. This car actually lapped faster than GTs like Porsche and Ferrari's. I was at Le Mans and this car was a fan favourite.

    Yeah, he caught up to that GT quite handily heading towards the Porsche Curves and passed before the Ford chicane. This car certainly turned heads during its time in Le Mans.

    @patrickfuilleiut6878 - Yeah; I wish they would get rid of that rear trunk lid, spoiler. In my opinion, the car already has enough downforce they don’t need anymore. I’m sure if they got rid of the rear spoiler it’ll be a lot faster on the straights and It’ll catch up and even pass the LMP2 categories.

  • @marcelx174

    He is not slower as the LMP2 because of too much downforce. Due to a lot of downforce the LPM2 are much faster in the corners. And you can clearly see it. If the Nascar car would have raced Spa, the story would be completely different. Le Mans is quite high speed, good for a Nascar car. In Spa it will be destroyed

  • @youngrody2386

    @youngrody2386

    Жыл бұрын

    @@marcelx174 The car's main strength was its handling, so both Mechanical and Aerodynamic grip were good combined with the High Engine Torque. However the LMP2s had more efficient Aero, so they produced less drag for the amount of down force they have. Their downforce numbers are probably similar, hence why the Camaro could keep up in the corners, but on the straights it's the exact opposite.

    It's not really a NASCAR. Watched a pit video where they talked about how little of the car is actually a Cup Car. They said the changed the length of the car, it's got wider custom made tires and wheels, carbon ceramic brakes, carbon fiber body, traction control, paddle shifters and 120liter fuel cell. The car did have to follow the rules like the other cars did. I wish NASCAR would make this exact car the new Cup Car. The cost is high $1.5M - $2M to build, but the racing would outstanding.

    @@BSDShoes because of my shock and dismay from reading your post and seeing that the V8 is no longer in the Supercar series, (I’m Canadian so we don’t get the series here) I decided to look it up. Based on what I ready, it appears that teams can choose to use any engine - I4, V6, V8 - as long as it conforms to the rules. Apparently, all teams are currently using a 5.0L V8 in their cars. Good on them. LONG LIVE THE V8!!

    I love it when the G56 car gets out of a corner how an LMP2 driver thinks they're just going to pass, but ends up just being beside it not gaining any ground, usually tucking back behind until G56 tops out. the LMP2 slowly goes by and the G56 tucks behind the LMP2 and gets pulled along.

    I wish someday Nascar had its own race within Lemans made from a few different cup teams from each manufacturer, and a rotation of drivers. Like Gibbs in Toyota, HMS in Chevy, Stewart-Haas in Ford, Penske in Ford, and maybe like 2 more teams. It would be cool to have 6 of these experimental cars with 2 cars each from Chevy, Toyota, and Ford racing in the Nascar cars at Lemans.
