I appreciate Cesar for his statement about the size of snooker balls as compared to 8balls, so many commentators make it a point to point out that the “jaws” of the pockets on snooker tables are narrower than those of 8 ball pockets. Making it seem like snooker players were at a disadvantage when actually ball size compensates for pocket size!!

Don't be ridiculous. I play both games. There is no comparison. Potting balls on a pool table is a hundred times easier than on a snooker table. If you hit the rail (cushion) on a snooker table before the pocket, then 99/100 the ball does not go in. The only pots that are more difficult on a pool table are narrow angles into side pockets.

Yeah you're somehow gonna pay women to be naturally better at sports. Women are worse across the board in 99% of sports that exist. Supposedly women have a slight edge in rifle shooting but I ain't watching to find out. It's a genetic thing. Hunters find the target or they go home empty handed. Women didn't hunt.

It would be lovely for there to be a women's tour but it's about money and enough women with enough snooker talent to entice punters through the door to watch them. Audiences are not likely to be big enough and sponsorship would be limited. Unfortunately the men's tour could not justify subsidising a women's tour, say in the way that NBA subsidises the WNBA - the WNBA runs at a loss because of one simple fact - it's just not good enough to be commercially successful if it was forced to stand on its own two feet. On-yee has got talent and I wish her all the best, but for the time being she is going to have to learn her craft against the men - and she'll be a better player for it. Snooker is one of the very few sports where there is no reason why a woman could not be as good as the men - I'd love to see someone like On-yee beat Ronnie O'Sullivan in a ranking final. Truth is we're a few decades of hard graft away from that kind of scenario coming true.

Truth is, there's no money in men's snooker either if you're not in the top 16. Most pro players barely survive with travel costs and poor prize money. Nothing if you're kicked out in the first round. Hardly anything in the next round if you're eliminated then. Ronnie and many pros are very verbal on how hard it is to survive in the fringes. The yearly salary of a pro snooker player is £16k
