On Board Allegra - Rolex Fastnet Race 2023

Paul Larsen is the world’s fastest sailor. He's a multihull fanatic and a great story teller and his description of Allegra’s Fastnet Race is well worth a listen. If you thought that charging around the 700 mile course on a 78ft luxury cruising cat would be a comfortable, stress free way to tick the Fastnet Race box, Paul puts you in the picture as to what it was really like.
The crew of Adrian Keller's Allegra completed the course in 2 days and 8 hours and 44 mins to win the MOCRA class but as Paul explains, it was far from easy.
Paul Larsen tells Matt Sheahan what it was like.

Thank you Matt. What a superb recount of a great race, full of joy for sailing. I like his point about taking time out at the rock to just enjoy the crew and the sailing. Thank you!!

Paul should seek an endorsement from Colgate with that big grin , with 32 knot top speed pushing 30 ton he had plenty to grin about..😊

in those conditions you are soaking at the aft helm as well, would rather be safe and center going 32knts tbh

Can't see how a cat can win against trimarans I logged a top speed of 47.1 knots on a 30 footer in a force ten southerly sailing on the surf angle from Roscoff to Poole the big trimarans cruise at over 40 knots

If you’ve got a billion dollars, spend 3/4 of it on racing yots, fast cars, racehorses, booze and hookers. Then just waste the rest.
