Why are Hero and Kel so underrated? Whenever I see Omori angst it's usually about Sunny, Basil or Aubrey. Hero was Mari's soulmate and I wish we got to see more of his grief. Kel on the other hand, fakes a smile just so others won't have to. He always keeps up with his positive attitude so his friends can be happy, no matter how bad the situation gets. Summary: I love the both of them so much they deserve so much love

This comment ^^^^^ You could say Kel saved Sunny by knocking on the door ( depending if Sunny opened it ofcourse ) And like you said Hero was Maris soulmate and she meant a lot to her, they both aren't showing their sadness a lot and try to keep the group together but they are going through a lot too

Having drowned myself in fanfic after finishing the game, you'd be happily surprised by just how many genuinely great fics there are that go into Kel's character and his and Hero's relationship, more. Fics are actually the reason that Kel became one of my favorites after finishing the game, because they let me see other sides of his character that the game itself only touched on. So yeah, they might seem underrated, but there's a lot of love for our boys, out there!

The part that I REALLY expected to happen after that (it took by surprise anyways, but I expected it...) was the hearbreaking fact where he was ignored by his parents after the yelling... I don't know how could I see that coming, really don't know, but was like if I felt Kel's emotions in that exact moment, or just understood a probability of what was about to happen because something similar happened to me.

The lip syncing is so on point! But I really felt bad for Hero and Kel in this scene because Hero for a full 4 years had to think it was his fault for Mari's "suicide" and blaming himself for not confronting to Mari and seeing her sadness that might have leaded to her suicide. And Kel was trying to comfort his brother, but only unintentionally making things worse and his parents not helping to cheer up kel (I know the reason why they didn't go to Kel, but it's still kinda sad not to). The Graveyard scene really hits hard in the heart and I love your animation is getting the tension from it according to Kel's perspective. Keep up the great work 👏🏽

Characteristics wise, his grief and sadness stem from his self-blame for not caring Mari enough is make the most sense for a guy like him to drown in sorrow for year. He not just lost her, but he lost her to "suicide", it's not a typical kind of death and give a whole different narrative impact especially as her potential soulmate A lot of people only think he's just sad because she died doesn't seems to understand Hero's character depth at all, if her cause of death are misfortune or accident he would be far lesser to be this sad because it's all out of his control, at least suicidal thought can be mend mentally if he care enough to noticed, which he think he didn't and blame himself for it. It's not a truck that hit you out of nowhere and instantly killed you on track or unfortunately trip down the long stair and hit your head with a violin which lead to instantaneous death 😔

Spoiler warning: The end scene of this broke me. Their parents went over to Hero, the one hurting more openly, instead of Kel, who is actually more hurting on the inside. This honestly summarize’s so much about them in the game. While Hero is a bit more open about how much the loss of Mari affected him (hence the almost unavoidable scene of hero playing the piano and mourning Mari) Kel most of the time in the game seemed mostly unaffected by everything in the storyline. He came out mostly the same on the outside after all in both clothing, hair, and personality. But the funny thing is, we only get true glimpse’s of his pain if we look beneath the surface. Such as the scene where Kel tells Sunny about how hero lashed out at him. Although Kel wasn’t crying during the scene, to me the smiles didn’t quite look the same. And in this video, it shows that. It shows how the pain hero is facing is more seen than Kel’s, which is why they ran over to hero instead of Kel. It also broke my heart when their mother just let Hero lash out at Kel, saying that he needs to do this disregarding how Kel would feel. This only shows more to me how they don’t know truly know Kel, probably thinking hero needs help more than Kel. Hero and Kel have been these two characters where one is more open while the other one is more hidden. Look at dream and irl Hero. They both are perfect on the outside and how they act so characters immediately see the good in him. But when most of the characters look at Kel they see him as annoying, when in the game we see in small bits and pieces that show Kel is a boy who wants to make people happy and he cares about others which if you ask me it could equal as much as Hero’s “perfection.” And finally, the main outer glimpse of Kel’s pain is only seen in one of the neutral routes where Basil dies. It may of just been me, but when he cried I saw all the pain he has been holding in the past few years. But yeah, that’s mostly it. I probably got stuff wrong or mixed up, so sorry if I did. This was just a dumb ramble and thanks for reading if you got this far (which I doubt you did cause it’s so long-)

@@Cursedcatstudios Memetics is the study of shared ideas. That is the origin of the word "meme". Since Starry and Meep (as well as probably Omocat) shared the same idea regarding Kel with eachother, that means that, yes, this technically is a meme, and is therefore canon.

it breaks my heart to think how Hero must've felt seeing mari, the girl he liked so much and considered to know so well, "commit suicide" without an explanation, without him knowing why. Hero is best boi :(

WAAAAAAH I LOVE THIS!!! I love the expressions man, you managed to convey exactly what the characters are feeling through their faces and body language. I know the dialogue isn't really from you, but it's absolutely heartbreaking hearing it from these characters and you did a great job illustrating that audio. That line also lingers on me, "She doesn't appear in my dreams, she doesn't haunt me. She isn't here anymore" I... damn. He's expecting something, maybe closure, or at least a made up version of Mari like what we see with Sunny. But he couldn't do that, and he has to face his denial and accept that she's never going to come back ever again. Agh, anyways, great job!

[spoilers] The logic of the dialogue fits surprisingly well, Mari really appeared in dreams of the one responsible for her death, it just wasn't Hero

Why Hero animatics are so sad my god, I'm crying really hard now.

This is part of the reason why I don't think Kel would forgive Sunny easily, contrary to popular belief. All the pain Kel had to see his brother go through, it's just really hard to forgive, if not unforgivable.

WHY MUST YOU ANIMATE THE ACTUAL CRYING AND LIP-SYNCING SO WELL?! Aauuughh, it huuurts... but it's so good, I'm in awe. I've heard a lot of people bring up Anohana when talking about Omori, but I've never seen it, so this audio is surprisingly fitting and painful in the context of the game... Hero having blamed himself for Mari's death, not knowing the truth of it, and I'm sure that he DID dream of her during that near-year he spent in bed, but who knows if it wasn't mostly nightmares about her death instead of all the precious, happy memories they shared together? Hero's one of my favorite characters, and his relationship with Kel in-game is one of the things I love so much about it, but all the angst surrounding them both feeds and hurts my soul, lol.

Hero probably went through so much when Sunny told them the truth. I honestly don't know when or how Hero would be able to accept the truth and forgive Sunny but I do know that Kel is probably going to be the least affected by the truth as everyone else was.

The scene where the gang finds Yukiatsu dressed as Menma was spot-on perfect for this...Hero's grief for Mari and Yukiatsu's grief for Menma are so similar and what happened to them and their friend groups and the M girls is heartbreaking. Kel and Jintan aren't excatly similar, but for this particular scene, Kel was a great surrogate for Jintan's lines. You chose very well and I really admire the art and animation of this. Thank you for sharing it. (Just when I got over Anohana I found out about Omori literally this is so fitting)
