Seeing you eating the cake mixture reminded me of when I was a kid many years ago and my mother was making a cake in the kitchen. My brother ran into the kitchen and said ‘mummy, mummy, can I lick the bowl’ to which my mother replied ‘no, flush the chain like everybody else’. 🤣😂🤣😂

Thanks for the review! That cake looked delicious. I have a "half and half" 2 x silicone liner set for my Omnia which seem quite rare but are great for smaller portions. Basically 2 x separate half moon shapes. Can't remember the make but pretty sure they are not official. You can cook a Shepherds pie or lasagne or pasta bake etc in one liner and a pudding or cake mix in the other at the same time.

I've had one of those butane stoves for quite a few years now, it's never failed me. Not the thing for back-packing, but like you I tend to camp from my truck, or my motorcycle, so space isn't usually an issue. I would have never thought of baking a cake with it though. Now you've got me thinking for the upcoming season. It's - 20 C, and snow here now, so it will be at least April before even considering camping. How to impress your friends at your next group camp - bake a cake!

I've wanted one for a few years but they're expensive for what they are. I'd like to see Yorkshire pudding done it it and see if the top browns or not. I've used a deep saute pan before many times with a cooling rack cut to fit the bottom, then a tin on the rack, lid on and you can make all sorts like pizza, bread, cakes, Yorkshire pudding, flapjacks etc.

I've had an Omnia oven for about 2 years now, and it's been a fantastic solution to baking things in camp. The only downside is that things don't brown very well, but that's really more of an aesthetic thing. I've baked maybe 20-30 cakes in mine, and have found that the lowest setting on the stove flame gives the best results. It doesn't take much to get things too hot and end up with burned bits, but the technique will come with a few uses. Our shop used to buy cakes for employee birthdays, but we now use the Omnia, and it's fun to see the looks on some customers faces when they smell the goodness and see what we're doing. Thanks for the review, and for the great content!

About safety of silicone molds: can you check this, Andy: The “Twist” Test The “twist” test is an easy way to assess the quality of a silicone cookware item. All you have to do is take a silicone product in your hands and twist it. If lots of white streaks appear, it indicates the presence of a large number of fillers. Pure silicone (safer) will hold its color when twisted. (5)

Hi Andy. I would be interested to see how this work with a Trangia. Are you aware of the "dog bowl oven"? If not, there are some videos on KZread that will explain all. I have tried it with my Triangia using bowls from Poundland. I think it would make a good subject for a video. Cheers.

Enjoy your Reviews and the Survival page. Just a quick request. I've been looking for a great pair of durable outdoors paints and you seem to were several. I've tried many and have never been satisfied with fit or quality. Any help there?

That looks pretty cool. I would love to add it to my gear. Any chance you're able to post affiliate links for those of us in the U.S.? Or do your UK links work internationally? *** Edit. Tried the link.. Doesn't ship to the US.. Which is strange however, because it is distributed from Amazon US.... Go figure.

Nice idea but the donut really shape does limit what you can do. If they could redesign so the air gaps went around the edges, that would be more versatile even if it limited the capacity. I'll stick with my Dutch oven for now.

You did a great job not burning the bottom. Normally it takes time to figure out how to modulate the temp. Did the thermometer come as a separate accessary? I have found mine works best on the Trangia burner attached to my Firebox stove. Good video!

Andy said in the video the thermometer was an accessory, recommended by amazon, but that Andy had to drill the hole on the Omnia a little larger, after that it worked as seen!
