Yes. I was born in 1969, so Barbara Streisand was already a mega star when I became aware of her name when the radio played her songs. She had been in a movie or two, but musicals. I think of her as a singer who can act. Many people think of her this way.

Pop culture reference: if you ever watched GLEE, Barbra Streisand is who both Rachel, and the actress who played her, Lea Michele, aspired to be. Recently, Lea Michele was cast in Broadway’s Funny Girl to rave reviews. Funny Girl, the Broadway musical AND the Hollywood film/musical is what shot Barbra Streisand to fame and fortune. To her delight and wish fulfillment; Lea Michele received a Gold envelope from Ms Streisand congratulating her and commending her on having done an excellent job bringing Fanny Brice back to Broadway.

Actually, if you ask Barbra, she describes herself as an "actress who sings..." primarily because acting was her first love and she had to work hard at it... singing came naturally and was initially just a means to survive until she could land acting jobs. But once the world heard that magnificent and unique voice, she couldn't turn back. She's an excellent actress too, both drama and comedy.

You think you're amazed now... you're about to traverse a career that will blow your mind. Def listen to her duets with Neil Diamond, Donna Summer, and Celine Dion, to name a few of the dozens of huge stars that have had the pleasure and a lifelong dream [their words] to sing with her. This particular song, "Evergreen" (like "Shallow" today) is the theme song (cowritten by Barbra) to the 1976 version of a "Star Is Born" starring Barbra and Kris Kristofferson; which, like 'Shallow,' won an Oscar. You should def watch her version of this movie...imo, the best. The closing song alone will leave you in a puddle of tears on the floor. I'm subscribing to your channel and look forward to more reactions on this once-in-a-millenia superstar who has held the record of most #1 albums ever by a female, until recently tied by Taylor Swift. She's also the only artist who's had a #1 album in six consecutive decades. Enjoy the ride. Her name btw is pronounced StrI-sand.

I know reactors hate to hear "How can you never have heard of (fill in the blank)!" & I never say it. But I had to laugh at myself 'cause it's the first thing that popped into my head. Ms. Streisand is quite literally one of THE most famous & beloved singers in music history, starting in the 60's & on to this day (not just the 70's & 80's as some commenters said). Others have listed some of her astounding accomplishments. She is the true definition of an icon. I hope you listen to more of her gorgeous voice..."The Way We Were" is a good place to start. And the movie is a great one. So is "A Star Is Born" with Barbra & Kris Kristofferson (another icon) as starcrossed lovers in the music business. And it's better than the remake with Lady Gaga imo. Love you guys! Keep going. 💙☮💙☮💙☮💙☮💙☮💙

Chod and Dee, you have just discovered a truly amazing singer. I bought one of her first albums when I was in high school back in the 60's. Her catalog of music is remarkable and deep. Songs like The Way We Were, People, You Don't Bring Me Flowers, Memory, Somewhere, and many more. And yes Dee, Evergreen has been played at many weddings.

I'm glad you guys did this one, my favorite of hers, Barbara is known for her great voice not her acting. The "e" and "i" has a long "i" sound for her last name. You should check out the movie "A Star is Born" with Kris Kristopherson for a quick run down of some of her music, she's been around since the 60's and had so many great hits. I would recommend "Are You Watching Me Now" from a Star is Born.

I'm so happy that you two have found her. It's also a testament to how old I really am. Seeing you find her, brought a tear to my eyes. Her singing this was yet another attempt of hers at writing a song. She wrote the song while studying the guitar, and was helped by songwriter Paul Williams. The song was done in her backyard for her concert "One Voice", which was also a fundraiser, and yes, "Whitney Houston" was in the audience...stating "This is the only show in town!!!

Barbara is a very famous singer; acting is her side gig. She wrote this song with Paul Williams and it has won a Golden Globe, an Academy Award, and three Grammy’s. There are too many songs you should listen to so I will just name a few. “People” "The Way We Were” “Somewhere” “My Man” and just a few of the duets she has done are You Don’t Bring Me Flowers with Neil Diamond, Guilty With Barry Gibb and Tell Him with Celine Dion. Tell Him is an insane song sumg by two of the most iconic singers ever. She has multiple duet albums and has sumg with Ray Charles, John Legend, Stevie Wonder, Luke Evens an actor that most peiple don’t know can sing, and even Melissa McCarthy just to name a few. Barbara was the star in one of the 4 remakes of "A Star Is Born”. You should go down this rabbit hole.

She has a song called "Woman In Love" in which she hold a note mind boggling long, and it's my fave by her. Just think Chod, if you had stopped doing reaction videos, all of the amazing music you would be missing. So glad that you decided to stick around. It's a win win situation.
