I was wondering about the cat walking across Stinkum when he got out of the car and the rat running across the street before Omar starts to whistle ''farmer in the dell''. I was wondering whether the production crew released the rat with food on the other side of the street or dropped the rat in a exposed way with a some kind of object to hide under on the other side of the street, off the camera angle.

As realistic as this show is, Omar has gained a near-mythical stature within its world. In this scene he is almost like an unstoppable consequence and buying into his own legend he acts like it so convincingly that noone can hit him. You can see how much Weebey is terrified of him, with Omar's voice echoing at him like some horror figure hiding in the shadows. In the end, this same hubris became the end of old Omar. His death is one of the most pitiless and trivial deaths I have ever seen depicted. Almost like a comet crashing to Earth.
@cheatswiz58
Жыл бұрын
He underestimated what threat the youth are capable of being (Michael scoots his attention bc of the same reason). We see him giving love to the streets in the beginning, but after his last talk with The Bunk, his alienation from their environment is revealed. If he had been truly honest with himself, and gave Baltimore a clear view, he probably would have seen a tiny murderer coming from down the block. Helpful message to us viewers, tho

An old, old, idea given its most famous modern form by Ralph Waldo Emerson, "when you strike at a king, you must kill him." But having Omar cite Emerson, if intended to be deliberate by the writers, actually fits well his complex character, and even if not, it's a sentiment a man like Omar in Omar's position might well come to all on his own, and the writing, set up and delivery here is just some of the best writing and line reading in TV history, no question.

Thank God for that intro, wouldn't have been able to figure it out otherwise
I love the camera work when it's panning around looking for Omar from Wee Bey's viewpoint.
Abbott Elementary used this line, and made me go back to watch an entire season (maybe 3… don’t judge me)
Actually the original line was supposed to be “Oh what a lovely tea party.” But they changed it in the final cut.
Not just the line, but he nailed the delivery of it!
One of the best fucking shows ever!
“Lesson here Bey” or “Listen here Bey?” First one would be fitting.

Never really paid attention to the title of the episode. But with it being “Lessons”, I presume he says “Lesson”.
Lol timely recommendation youtube…. They missed ole boy today
"MY NAME IS MY NAME" is my favorite quote from The Wire. Vondas saying "He knows my name. But my name is not my name" is probably my 2nd favorite quote
“You come at the king, you best not miss!”
Am I the only one thinking that he's sitting there in the car putting his fingerprints all over that gun with his right hand without a glove...and THEN he puts the glove on? C'mon now. Sometimes it's the little things. Great show.

Think that was intentional. There's a whole thing with Stinkum and that gun.

@@1337penguinman It's been a long while since I watched. Yeah, I can see that if it's kind of a talisman or charm. Still, the part of me that has seen too many episodes of "The First 48" and other true crime series was screaming. LOL

"It's good to be the king."
Nah fam the greatest line was… "How you expect to run with the wolves come night, when you spend all day sportin' with the puppies?”
One of the best actor ever played this part no one could’ve done it better seriously..👍❤️❤️❤️Rip Peace Omar
1:45 The way you sped everything up I thought I was having a stroke! 🤣
dude was in a documentary about drugs then died of drugs what irony RIP omar
Just finished binging on all four seasons of The Wire. God help us if someone decides it would make a great musical..

I thought he said if you swallow the King, you better not kiss. I need new batteries in my hearing aid.
Wee bey is so zoned in, his pupils disappear when he’s talking to stink
Awesome stuff...thank you! Every time i watch the series, I start talking like them around the house....drives my wife nuts because it annoys her ("might could be"😁).
You come at the King you best not miss...💯
man just to know how omar was sittin there tha whole time watchin them sit in that car shows how patient he was that man awareness was top tier only to let ah youngin take’em out
What a show. Sad to see so many of its actors passing away.
I always thought he said 'lesson here' as in I'm going to let you live to tell the story to others.

He didn't let Wee bey live, Wee bey took cover and defended his post, plus the police were on the way. When Wee bey shot Omar, he completely ran away.

0:48 You can see the resentment in Stinkum's face that he has to part with his beloved gun, the way he strokes it. Omar: "Bird covet them shiny pistols"

Brilliant scene, only flaw for me is when they get out the car they ain't quiet, surely on the quiet corners that time of night you would hear a car door slam and at least look over. Especially in a game like The Game.

@Popatop :: I really missed a great show, apparently. The things I've heard about _The Wire._ Like it was the best show ever. I only saw, maybe, three episodes. This scene with the rat running across the street, I was wondering, just like you, didn't the guys on the corner hear that car door close ? That's not good. ( I started thinking :: Maybe this show was all hype. )
@Popatop42

@cliffgaither definitely not all hype, its not fast paced but very well written. Personally my favourite U.S drama along with Breaking Bad, S.o.A and 6ft Under
Omar was on a roll that night, blasted Stinkum into the after life and winged Wee-Bay
It’s “LESSON here Bey, you come at the king you best not miss” hence the title of the episode- “Lessons”.

WHAT ABOUT THE RAT. THAT RAN CROSS THE STREET ?
Glad they was subtle and didn’t slam the car door or anything 🐀 😅
Omar Little was my favorited!
Stinkum was touching the gun and then put his gloves on. He still had his prints on it

"Come at the king you best not miss" -Next time they meet- Weebey: So i took that personally
I always heard it as "lesson here" and not "listen here" as it's captioned. Seems like "lesson" would be more a thing that Omar would say.
