IT IS COMING!!! The Karasuno vs Shiratorizawa matchup!!! I am so choked that I have to wait until season 3 to see it, but I CAN'T WAIT!! The full-circle moment tying S2E1 to this one was chef's kiss and it made me soooo happy.
It wouldn't be a stellar Haikyuu! episode if I didn't either have goosebumps or shed a tear throughout, but this episode delivered both. Yachi's part.... 😭

    All Ushiwaka sees is a smart and adaptable setter. With shiratorizawa oikawa would just get carried by Ushiwaka and not grow. He made the right choice.

    Iwaizumi blaming himself for not being good enough gets me every time T_T He saved so many balls in the end, holds the team together and keeps Oikawa and Kyotani in line. He is the pillar of the team. I like that there is no need for words between him and the other third years and he picks himself up after that.

    Hello! This is pretty late, but I do want to ask if Frdt mentioned anything why Oikawa is in first name basis with Tobio? When he's teasing/mocking him, it's Tobio-chan. But in serious mode, it's Tobio. But I don't think I've ever heard him say Kageyama? Even with Hajime, he only calls him in his last name, Iwa-chan. So I wonder if Frdt mentioned anything about that.

  • @ajollybee

    @ajollybee

    Жыл бұрын

    @@zyranara i don't think furudate's ever said anything, but it's probably several things. 1) as kageyama's senpai, it's not super unusual that he might use his first name. just like people who are older are more likely to do away with honorifics or use less formal ones like -chan or -kun, they can afford to address those who are younger than them more casually. 2) that said, we see that even with oikawa's penchant for nicknames, he doesn't address the second or first years in seijou by their first names. in kageyama's case, it's similar to ushijima, where he adopts a more casual address with them, but it's not in an affectionate manner. it's meant to be rude/annoying instead of a sign of closeness. where tobio-chan vs. tobio comes in, the context matters like you said, and 'tobio' is as respectful as oikawa gets with kageyama because it's him treating kags on equal footing by getting rid of the mocking honorific. 3) contrast that with how he treats hinata later, "shoyou" is completely genuine and actually what you might expect from a regular senpai haha

    I love that Oikawa stood up to Ushijima because even though he never made it to nationals, I think Seijoh was the perfect choice for him. He didn't choose the wrong path at all. I actually think he would've hated Shiratorizawa's style because they're all about physical strength and brute forcing your way through blocks while he's the type of player who loves to outsmart the opponent and play a mental game. Seijoh was perfect for him and even though he never reached his dream with them, they made lots of beautiful memories together and he genuinely loved his team so much. Even though I'm really sad he never reached his dream in high school and even if he could've if he went to Shiratorizawa, I'm so happy that he didn't. That wasn't the place for him.

    Me, being the biggest Ushijima fan ever: here comes my time to shine Also yeah, he's not overly confident, he just knows for a fact that he's very good and has too poor of a social skill to understand that rubbing it in everyone's face isn't the best policy. Also the coach of their team WORSHIPS Ushijima, he's the golden boy who's not faced any major losses yet so he doesn't understand how it feels and how fragile victory is.

    Haikyuu is very nice in that it focuses not only on the winners but also on the losers, and on the process of winning and losing. When Oikawa is joking around, he often uses nicknames or the suffix "chan", such as "Tobio-chan." In his "declaration of war" against Ushijima, he called him "Ushijima" instead of the nickname "Ushiwaka." This "declaration of war" still fascinates me as of September 2022. Kyo-ken-chan (Mad dog chan) is composed of Kyotani Kentaro, and Ushi-waka is composed of Ushijima Wakashi. The sound "Kyo-ken" reminds us of a mad dog, and "Ushiwaka" reminds us of a famous Japanese samurai named Ushiwaka-maru. Ushiwakamaru was a 12th century samurai, a famous figure known to almost everyone in Japan. He was extremely nimble and played a great role in battles by playing tricks on his enemies with his jumps. In this respect, "Ushiwaka" is a fitting nickname for the ace of Shiratorizawa, the strongest team in Miyagi Prefecture. As a child, Ushiwakamaru chastised a large and very strong monk named Benkei and made him his subordinate. Benkei continued to serve Ushiwakamaru until his death. In Japan, Ushiwakamaru and Benkei are often mentioned together.

  • @jaderush4141

    @jaderush4141

    It's even better when you consider Hinata's reaction to his receive. I think this is the first time in the series where he reacts to a receive the way he usually reacts to powerful/unusual attacks (by looking mesmerized and saying "wow/amazing"). Iwaizumi's choice of words is also interesting. I don't know what it sounds like in the original, obviously, but in the subs he says "the bliss of receiving", the same wording as Hinata's "the bliss of a feint" a couple of episodes prior. All of that really stood out to me in the context of Hinata's further development and the next logical step he's going to take on his path to greatness. This is the exact moment he fell in love with this aspect of volleyball, and I am HERE for it.

    My S2 All Star Team: Setter: Oikawa Opposite: Bokoto Middle Blockers: Kuroo / Aone Wing Spikers: Kageyama / Iwaizumi Libero: Nishinoya My rationale: Oikawa will bring out the best in Bokuto and make him never turn Emo Mode, and Kageyama being a wing spiker with Iwaizumi would be an absolutely phenomenal pairing, not only because they all have history together, and not only because Kageyama would not threaten Oikawa for the same position, but Kageyama would also have the ability to make perfect sets to other players as an already excellent spiker.

    Super excited to see Sarah react to season 3! Personally, there's only maybe five or six anime series/seasons that I would rate a perfect 10/10, and Haikyuu season 3 is one of them. Everything about it is just perfect, from the way Ushiwaka and Shiratorizawa have been built up, to the storytelling and pacing of the story. Season 3 really is something special.

    Kindaichi is most affected next to Kageyama about what to happened to their middle school, coz he's the one who started protested to their coach and turned his back to Kageyama, so up til this season he was feeling guilty. And Ushiwaka, i could say, he can be on par with Takeda sensei as a recruiting agent...haha 😅 ... Ushiwaka to Oikawa "you should have come to Shiratorizawa" every single time they both met.

    So happy to hear that "Winners & Losers" is her fav ep, too (actually relieved, since her tendency to speak negatively towards opponent teams/members had me a bit anxious)! Gonna leave my support & my personal opinions about the iffy subs as usual: 4:05 「のれません」➔ "I won't". I guess they thought that this phrase would cause less confusion, but I really wish they chose to go with "I can't". The simple "I won't" would be 「のりません」in Japanese, but Kageyama chose to say 「の*れ*ません」. With simple words, Kageyama was saying that there's no reason for him to get complacent or think that he'd already surpassed Oikawa at this point. 17:24 「準決勝だし…まあ、こんなもんだろう」➔ "The lost in the semifinals. What do you expect?". I guess it's supposed to be "They" & not "The" at the beginning, but still, this line should be more like "Well, it's (only) the semifinals... so this is just about how you'd expect things to be, I guess". Sawamura's talking about the overall trend of news coverages here & not saying anything specific about Seijoh. 22:44「日向が突進して掴みかかったり、影山君が投げ飛ばして倒したり、」➔ "Hinata like charged you and tried to fight with you, and then Kageyama-kun started punching and pushed you over...". A more literal translation would be more like "Hinata charging (Kageyama) & grabbing (him), & Kageyama-kun flinging (Hinata) & knocking (him) down (as a result)...". 「掴みかかる」is describing how Hinata grabbed Kageyama's shirt front, so I guess you can say "tried to fight with you" instead, but where did they get "started punching"?! Perhaps they miss-heard 「投げ(nage = throw)」as 「殴り(naguri = punch)」?

    @@fullmoon3128 I'm sure the movie would be good but a lot of the things we enjoy about Haikyuu - all the emotions and the intricate details and the art and the subtexts will not all be captured right? I'd highly recommend reading the Manga too. Especially I got impatient before part 2 of S4 came out and read the whole thing, but the anime still was so good though 😊😊
