Did anyone else feel that this was a bit of a filler episode? Don't get me wrong, I loved the final points of the training camp match against Fukurodani (that team knows and understands their roles 💯 and now we know why they are so good), but the barbecue, training scenes, and prep for the Inter-High prelims were a little underwhelming for me.
I was beyond excited to see all of the teams coming up soon, as well as two mysterious ace players, so even though this might not have been the greatest Haikyu! episode of all time, it definitely got me ready for what is to come!! Can I also just say that the friendships and relationships between the players from different schools gives me life? That's all.

    I feel bad for the Ubugawa guy being disliked just for his looks, when he was actually being gentlemanly towards Yachi (^_^;). Leaving my support as usual & my personal opinions about the iffy translations as usual: 9:00 「あの場面でどれだけ攻められるかが勝ち上がっていけるかどうかを左右する」➔ "In that situation, how much one is going to get blamed will affect our ability to win." This should be more like "Just how much (we) can keep attacking/be on the offense at such situations will affect whether (we)'d be able to keep winning forward or not" This is a case of mistranslation caused by 2 different words that sound exactly the same. Namely 「攻める(semeru)= to attack」&「責める(semeru)= to blame」. To me, their sentence using the word "to blame" doesn't really make sense, but the translators may have been dragged by the following line which actually has the word "to blame" in it. 9:12 「でも、勝ちにいこうとするサーブを打とうとするのを非難する奴なんかいねぇよ」➔ "But there's no one who tries to hold back a winning serve." This is OK, I guess, but a more literal translation might be "But, there's no one (here) who would criticize/blame (someone) trying to hit a serve aiming for a win."

    Waaah I think this is one of the best episodes in s2. The barbecue scene is so good and it gives me fuzzy feelings watching everyone interact. And I also love bokuto’s energy lol. It’s like he’s Itto and Rengoku. And I don’t really mind his ego - I don’t think it’s coming from a bad place - i think , when he’s in a good mood, he just have absolute belief in himself and he has the confidence that he is the best.

    This is actually one of my favorite episodes. Just the group being high school kids, developing their friendships and camaraderie over a BBQ. Players, coaches, managers etc. It really pays dividends in later episodes and how invested they are with each other despite being on different teams. Notice when Coach Ukai is talking to Asahi, he is also addressing Tadashi in the background. Also, they've been hinting at Suga scheming at something which won't play out for a bit but I know you're a Suga stan so dropping some crumbs for ya. As for the top 5 aces, Bokuto is underrated. Let's not forget he will soon have complete victory over Ushijima. 😂

  • @mtandyt5743
    @mtandyt57432 жыл бұрын

    So Oikawa isn't actually part of the top 5 they were talking about, they just showed him when talking about strong players in general. They were talking specifically about the top 5 aces, which includes Ushiwaka, Kiryuu (you will meet him later, the anime has not yet caught up to where he is seen in depth), Sakusa (same with Kiryuu), Bokuto (who you have met and will continue to see more), and the last one was not named, but you will see him in season 4! There is no particular confirmed order, just that Ushiwaka, Kiryu, and Sakusa make up the top 3, and Bokuto and the unnamed player round out the top 5.

    Nice to see all the emotions Sarah, you're always so perceptive and lovely. From my point of view, Bokuto's ego is something more for comedic effect rather than him taking himself too seriously. I think that part is well contrasted with his eagerness to teach the other guys in good spirit (he is and will continue to be Tsukki's inspiration, and Hinata's to some extent),and his friendship with Kuroo. I have to trust that Kuroo wouldn't be friends with an asshole, cause he's my favourite character😜 Really nice to see Tsukki get a different perspective from his brother, it looks like he needed to heal that relationship first, before his relationship with volleyball could start to change.

    About the 5 “Aces” in Japan, it won’t be relevant soon. Right now we know about two of them: Bokuto and Ushiwaka. Two more aces will appear in Season 4 and the last one hasn’t been presented yet officially in the anime. PD: Oikawa isn’t part of the top 5. The image they showed in the anime consist of players Hinata thought to be the strongest he has ever faced. The shadows just implies that he knows that there are stronger players in Japan, it’s just the fact that he hasn’t met them yet.

It also gives us a chance to see more of the people around the players. The coaches, and the managers, even the parents, inderectly, when they sent them the watermelon. But it's non-stop matches till the end of season 3 now. As for Bokuto's ego... it's part of his charm. Sure, he's a bit full of himself but, at the same time, top 5 spikers in the country, so it's not without reason. Plus, he does it in a way that's funny and sort of endearing.

    Thinking about how young Ukai described his time at Karasuno as a player and how special it was, everything happening right now is this Karasuno teams special place and time. Even though I've watched this so many times...I still get so caught up in the teams special time...ok sorry that probably makes no sense but I can't quite find the proper words to express myself.

    It's a good day when - My exhausting training is over - school's done for the week - just got home - New Sarah Pavan video. Seriously, it's been very fun watching you enjoy haikyuu and hearing your feedback. I've watched you since I started volleyball last year and my first game against another team is at the end of this month, time to put all that training together. I also watched your "how to dive tutorial" and I started using it in my last training, I managed to pull off many dives without injuring myself, I would usually only be able to make 3 or 4 dives before I injure myself but thanks to the tutorial I can safely do it. My coach was also quite impressed because he hasn't taught me dives yet watched me slowly improve on them. Wish me luck.

    One of my favourite in-between episodes! Love the camaraderie between teams and the cameos from the competing teams. I missed Aone so much, I squealed when he appeared! He’s my second favourite character after Hinata. Thanks for another great reaction!

    For the most part, when a character in Haikyuu is shown with a negative trait, it's best to think about it in terms of a character arc, since the author did not write any characters who are meant to be hated. Basically, if a character looks even a little important, then they will be shown working to overcome their bad traits. Bokuto in particular has my second favorite storyline in the entire anime/mange (after Hinata since he's the main character), so please don't judge him too harshly just yet, even if he is a complete manchild at this stage

    @Kafka Crimson This doesn't really have to do with it being an anime, as much as it does with the characters being teenagers. Being very insecure (Oikawa) or moody (Bokuto) or not knowing how to speak properly (Kageyama and Ushiwaka) is not all that uncommon with 15-17 year olds. Sarah is very much justified in her current opinions. It's just that Haikyuu is a very slow show (a season can sometimes only cover a few weeks), so it may sometimes seem like a character is not maturing fast enough, even though in real time it's happening kind of quickly. The last thing is that no one would really slap someone like Kageyama or Ushiwaka, they'd just criticize them and have the coach handle it, which is what we see in the show with Kageyama especially. As for pulling a player out of a game, we also see that sometimes, but it's not all that feasible to do on a regular basis in a single elimination tournament. I've seen it a lot in highschool level competitions, coaches are forced to make a choice of whether a player's attitude is bad enough to justify benching them despite their skill, since if the team loses, it may cause a lot of problems down the line
