Vinicius is the mix from all brazilian fauna, meanwhile Tom is the mix from all brazilian flora. So Vinicius can be a monkey, a cat, a jaguar, a snake, and much more

In my opinion as a Canadian, I would say that the Vancouver 2010 mascots are the best looking mascots in Olympic history. Not only do they represent their province well but they also show inclusion especially with Sumi as the Paralympic mascot and how it shows him using the specialized sport equipment used in the Paralympic Games.

My favorite mascots: 1) Hodori 3)Wenlock and Mandeville 4)Miga,Sumi and Quatchi 5)and the fuwa Last but not least...the realy FAVORITE mascot that i likely choosen... VINICIUS AND TOM!!

I think the Fuwa should be #1, if only because most of the others are pretty interchangeable and could be used for almost anything, but the Fuwa could ONLY be Olympics mascots and ONLY for the Beijing Olympics. Plus, they are just *loaded* with symbolism: Olympic sports, Chinese animals, art styles, regions, and time periods, Eastern elements…they’ve got it all.

Cool stuff man! I actually own a Quatchi page you posted this video to! I totally agree with your number 1! At the time of the Olympics I was in love with the mascots for Vancouver, especially where I'm Canadian! The only change I would have made is I would have ranked Beijing 2008's mascots higher, I loved those guys! Great video though!

Thanks! I love mascots...usually...and Quatchi was a special one for me. He travels the world with me, as featured in many, many more of my other videos. Things got tough when I had to rank the mascots I liked...the last 12 or so were pretty close in a lot of ways!

yay atlanta @ 2:19 Izzy went everywhere. he was badass. He could turn into anything he wanted. he also had his own computer game, Sega platform video game, and his own cartoon. izzy could do anything which was a great message for kids in achieving your dreams. I know that sounds corny but I love him. not to mention the sales from his merchandise combined with corporate sponsors allowed Atlanta to end their Olympics with no debt and actually a surplus. No tax dollars were used, most Olympics end with cities heavily in debt. go atl!!

I think Cobi should be higher up, it is a lot more appealing and creative than many others up there including the 84 disney looking one.

Spoiler alert: They didn't return for the 2022 Olympics. Two new Olympic mascots were chosen, namely Bing Dun Dun and Shuey Rhon Rhon.

I almost had the Bronze medal! Oh well, I am still happy to see all my friends gathered in one place! ❤

Hello from Calgary. By the way, the last time I was over at the Canada Sports Hall of Fame, which is based in the city and Canada Olympic Park, it showcased both Howdy and Hidy at the front entrance there. However, like the Olympic Experience in Richmond, I hope that the CSHoF will be a member of the Olympic Museums Network in the future.

I need to get at least a pin or keychain featuring the mascots missing in my collection . I have coins with the Sochi mascots; a lighter with Sam, the eagle; a magnet with Vinicius, the cat; a pin with the Tokio mascots; a keychain with 2008 Beijing mascots; figurines from the London Olympic and logos from Atlanta, Turin and Barcelona Olympics. Soon I will add the mascots of the Beijing Winter Olympics. I also collect the World Cup mascots as well. Like my avatar featuring Zakumi the leopard from South Africa 2010.

My mascot for the new Beijing Olympics are the 5 rabbits of Beijing because saw pic of rabbits in art when I typed in rabbits in Beijing I saw art . the back story for them are they used be rabbits in a farm but one day the farm shut down and the rabbits quickly escaped and one day the gods of Olympics came and give them the powers of the air water land time and weather. Pretty cool right?

5:56 There is a knockoff toy of one of these. But this isn't the first times a mascot from olympic, expo, or game has been ripped off with bump n go toys. There's one of Haibao (some call him Toothpaste man or Blue Gumby), the mascot of the Shanghai 2010 Expo that is in a go kart, one with him and a female version of him doing tango, and one with him with maracas. The only official merch of him is a plush of him that was sold at Shanghai Expo.

Well whoever came up with the designs and animation of the characters on the team must have a really good taste for Adventure Time..

And also their based off the five elements water, fire, earth, sky and metal

Wenlock and Mandeville are just too nostalgic for me

I don’t really understand why there was a period when mascots came in trios. A solo mascot is a strong symbol, but a group of three unique characters just dilutes the brand. Especially when they don’t have a strong uniform design, unlike the Fuwa with their sentai team look, or the more recent olympic/paralympic pairs, like the London and Tokyo mascots. Those look like they belong together, and you can use either one alone without it being confusing. In contrast, the Sydney/Vancouver/Sochi/etc trios looks like the design committee couldn’t decide what local animal to go with and just went “all of them”.
