Dominique is such an ultimate pro that she was able to recognize that the gymnast/actress in the American Anthem movie was really doing her routine. That was Maria Anz, a collegiate athlete in that era who won the 1984 floor exercise individual Championship for the Florida Gators.

On any other gymnasts' best day, they cannot come close to the scores that Simone gets even on her worst day. That's what I meant. It was a compliment, calm down.

I love that she said "add more springs" rather than a single comment about the character's weight. What a sweetheart! This video was so positive all around! Thank you Dominique!

I would venture to guess it has something to do with strict diet and excersize routines and frequent health check ups, considering shes an olympian. But who knows, maybe its her skincare routine? maybe its maybelline?

She has held her beauty well. Gymnasts tend to hold their beauty if they keep doing it.

I was all of nine but I definitely remember the Olympics of ‘96. I remember seeing Dominique & the team and I remember Kerri performing thru her ankle injury. Tough team!

I was in love with DD when I was a kid. She was the reason I watched the olympics. She still looks amazing.

Automatically love this!!! But love at the end of the day how professional she is with her Analysis, there’s a lot of love for craft in her. I love that.. sorry for using love so many times but, it is what it is.

The Vaseline on the teeth trick, my cheer coach when I was little used to make us do that 🙄 The idea was it would make your teeth slippery so it would be easier to smile but all it actually did was make it feel like you had gunk all over your teeth. Ah, the ‘90s.

Probably doesn't taste very good. I can't imagine it being pleasant. It is weird I would've thought it would be to make your teeth shine more then to help you smile. I guess you really do learn something new everyday.

Phil, I wasn’t even born for the ‘96 Olympics but watching Kerri Strug go back out and finish her routine on a bad ankle is beyond amazing and inspiring even now. Simone Biles should’ve watched that before deciding to quit on her teammates. She won’t be able to live that decision down. If she needs her pills to compete, to focus, then she shouldn’t even have been going to the Olympics. What I think she should do is not retire, and what she should do instead is come back for 2024 Paris Olympics to erase what happened this time around.

The context of that "Stick It" beam routine was important: The gymnasts had decided to flout the rules and traditions of the sport after one of their teammates had been penalized for a visible bra strap, which is why Weiwei was breakdancing instead of doing more typical movies.

I know something more then a Olympian. Never thought I would be able to say that….. There is men’s rythmic gymnastics. It is very popular in Europe, Russia and Asia just not America and is not internationally recognized yet by the IOC or has much appeal at all in the Americas.

It's not a reference because the movie came out prior to Kerry Strug's injury. The movie came out in the 80s.

Isn't American Anthem the one where the girl performs to music composed by her cousin instead of the music her coach picked out and that she trained to? I would have thought that was worth mentioning. (Maybe I have the wrong movie.)

pretty sure it's the same as Figure Skating where it doesn't happen in Real life competition since the darkness makes it hard to see where you're landing. It's done sometimes in exhibitions or shows where gymnasts will do less risky moves so they're less likely to injure themselves. I guess they do it in movies to make it more dramatic.

I think it would be awesome if men would also do rhythmic artistics
