@@bradfirth3409 if it's a live show, it doesn't always have a separate mix from the actual live audience to the recording which leads to a imbalance in the mix for what we get. That being said anything for TV should have 2 mixes made for the performance, one to the live audience and one for tv/recording.

For a song that literally demands screaming and requires a ton of work, she's on FIRE on this video. Yes, she might sound out of breath, and it's a little bit pitchy, but I can say with a hundred percent certainty that this was thrilling for the lucky people who got to see it live. Amen to that, the small imperfections only make this whole thing better. Also, not to sound too technical, but for example when it sounds like her voice fails a bit in the breakdown for instance, she's not going "off key", she's going polytonal.

Watching this 2 years later I keep remembering people saying this wasn’t good?? I’m so confused. She sounds so clear, confident. Her voice sounds so healthy. She’s having fun. So odd that people were so critical of this one…

This performance really caught my attention as being so different than the music I was used to hearing from anyone at that time. She really brought back some old vibes with this kickoff for her album SOUR. Olivia went on to win three Grammy awards for that album. 🥰

The fact that her producer, Dan nigro, is the one playing the bass behind her makes me emo. You can see how proud he is the whole time

I’m 40 years old. I’m a fan of heavy metal and hard rock. I can’t stop listening to Olivia Rodrigo.

My favorite thing about live performances is that you can hear the breathing, the occasional voice cracks, it makes it so authentic, that's why is live. And that does NOT meaning they can't sing. It means it's live. And that's awesome

This is obviously an EXTREMELY hard song to sing, since the whole thing is basically belting, and she really nailed the live performance

Okay, but can we acknowledge the bass man? He's smiling and having a great time, he seems so amused by Olivia Rodrigo. Then there's the background singer, she's grinning and getting into it. In generally, you can see everyone having a good time. Where you can see the drummer and electric guitar people, they're literally just having the best time. It's really cool to see!

Sky pitch black, as I watched the sun rise over the Wichita Mountains. This song comes on. This punk pop teen angst driven little tune caught my attention as we were revving at 80 mph. Loved it. The chorus of this song is as good as anything. Only thing I wish is that all the backing vocals were live, but it's really just those few short bits. She's a legitimately brilliant talent. I get goosebumps every time I hear her.

you know your favourite singer is good when she sounds just like the voice mixer version (she doesn't use autotune, so insane) you know she the best person to ever live when she brings realistic emotions, kills your heart, and goes beyond when she's live. damn. killer album. this is liv's debut, so imagine her future albums.damn.

for an artist so young and so early in their career, her stage presence is incredible and her breath control is truly impressive, especially with a song that isn’t necessarily in a low key.

I think part of that comes from her acting background as well. I heard soemone say that they dont relate to drivers license but they do feel that olivia is sad cuz shes a great actor (and by actor i mean someone who can convey emotions, i dont mean to say that shes just acting and that the breakup didnt happen). Acting also allows you to realize what looks awkward, what doesn't and what type of actions help immerse the audience.

I think her giving such an emotive, energized performance while maintaining those hard-to-reach notes is pretty on point. I would have run out of breath and control before the song was half over. Also, who gaf what tiktokkers think. I'm not even an Olivia Rodrigo fan, but there is nothing wrong with this performance. I find it pretty impressive, actually.

I really love her live vocals so much! And they sound so good with the live band, too!!

People criticizing her while ignoring the fact that she sounds better than 95% of the recent pop female singers in the past five years lol. She’s got good pitch that only seems to waver whenever her breathing gets off so with some work on breath support, she’ll be a powerhouse.

The bassist in this is actually Olivia's producer (Dan Nigro) who co-wrote the song with Olivia. He was probably very happy to play the song he made with Olivia on SNL. Plus, he doesn't usually play with her live if you look at other live shows from Olivia. I wouldn't be surprised if it was his first live show playing.

She proves it was her recording the song without any autotune.

I think she focuses on emotions more than perfection so that's why she misses a lot of detail which is fine for me

She has perfect pitch and her being beautiful as hell..really helps.

God Olivia is SUCH a theatre kid I love it so much
