Olivia Newton-John, an English-born Australian singer, songwriter and actress, singing 'The long and winding road' (The Beatles). I'm pretty sure it is one of the best versions I've ever listened to.

I love Olivia's version too, I've listen to all the others, they're not bad, they're good too, but there's something in Olivia's voice that really touches you, and so soothing. Yep, definitely nobody does it better, for me, the best version ❤

Olivia did the Beatles classic song, "The Long and Winding Road" absolutely superbly!!!! I had never heard her sing this great Paul McCartney song until now. Wow!! R.I.P. Olivia Newton-John.

Very beautiful and heartfelt cover. Her voice is so feminine, soft and pleasing to the soul.

She has GOT to be the most photographed woman ever. Just when you think you've seen all of her pictures, BAM !...you discover another video of her with all new pictures you've never seen. God, I love this woman....

It is amazing how people love the Beatles, Karen Carpenter and Olivia. I think this is my favorite version of this song, but I miss this level of talent in today's music... There are still some awesome performers, but technology can cure a lot of ills that wasn't available in the 60s and 70s...

Still hate to know she’s gone. Just can’t accept it. Say it ain’t so.

Some people says; She have a little voice. They can´t see the exact rythm, the exact tone, the warm feeling, the broad register , the versatility of this amazing lady, capable to sing from rock to arias, passing trought jazz, pop, bossa...

I didn’t even realise that she had cut a version of this classic song! It compares well with any of the others. Amazing!

I was born 1966, first saw her in 1972 or 1973 in German TV. It was the day I saw the woman of my dreams. It´s nearly 50 years ago... Greetings from Germany!

I bought the cassette in 1977 and is still on the very top of the list of my favorites songs!

It was one magic time on the age! olivia always beautiful!!! Simply Unforgettable!

Saw Olivia in the early 80s at Hammersmith Odeon London and she was superb 👌

She does a fabulous job - I didn't realize how many covers that she had done. This is my favorite McCartney song of all time - she and George Michael have done fabulous covers of the song.

No one ever talks about what a great singing voice Olivia had. She was seriously underrated. She may have been everywhere throughout 1978, but in the decades since, she kind of fell off the radar. People still talk about Barbara Streisand, Dusty Springfield, Randy Crawford, and Karen Carpenter - no one ever mentions ONJ. Imo her voice was as good as those other female singers I mentioned. Her voice is most similar to Karen Carpenter's. They are all what you'd call 'real' singers. No trickery involved in hiding their singing voices, like so many singers use today.

One of those nice songs made by the Beatles but very nicely interpreted here and one of those songs that makes me think as there have been situations in which we have felt as the song says although it was a long time ago.

olivia is gifted with its natural shine, beautiful inside and out, no need for eternal youth to please her admirers and fans, because when he smiles and sings...enchants!

Olivia's LP cuts were actually more mature, (& so beautifully arranged), on her 4 albums prior to those 6 "white hot" years that were just to follow after "GHV1" AND she was truly such a young, young woman. Stereo Review magazine lauded this and several other tracks all the way from "Mellow"" thru "MAGTB". They would dissect, intensely review and applauded EVERY aspect of her albums in long,, full page, (& very small font) articles. She was no lightweight! I donated all of my copies to her offices in '85. Gosh, that was a great, serious musician's magazine - sorely missed. Thank you for posting her gorgeous reading of the Lennon/McCartney classic. It's so welcome, when one gets "lost" on an hour of YT searches. Olivia's version received quite alot of airplay in NYC on 104.7. What a catalougue, what a voice. I think everyone has their LONG wish lists of songs that they would hv loved Olivia to record. IF I could add "Going Back", by C.K/ best recorded by Dusty, a million tunes with Barry Gibb and would have loved for her to hv recorded "Bridge Over Troubled Waters" WITH Art Garfunkel just as he did originally in an empty church cathedral to get those echoes.. OR, (rather, ALSO), a solo version in the same feel as Roberta Flack's cover of the classic. Thank you again for the photo montage along with posting Olivia's gorgeous version.
