Bumble and his arrogant wife should've been ashamed of themselves for not knowing that Oliver was brownlow's father's son and heir to his fortune and they got fired from the poorhouse for stealing the evidence of Oliver's true identity!

Bill should've been ashamed of himself for being a heartless, murderous, psychopathic liar!

@Atozinco: Yes, that's what he says. I believe the actual quote is "If the law supposes that, then the law is an ass! An idiot! And if that is the eye of the law, then the law is a bachelor. And the worst I wish the law is, is that his eye may be opened by experience. By experience!" XD

Bill's last words: "I loved her." At least in this version.

@Shakespeare: Maybe because it's not as surprising to her in this version as it was in the novel? After all, in this version, not only does she know who she really is, but she also knew her sister was pregnant and had run away somewhere and had a child. In the novel, she didn't know either, and both came as a big shock to her. This also isn't the only version to portray that moment without much emotion. Every other pretty much has, including the supposedly "perfect" 1985 miniseries.

@ShakespeareHamlet i totally agree. and anyway, i think keira nightley was a bad choice for this. she is very good for action films or for adventures like the pirates of the caribbean, but for something like this she's too cold.

"If the law supposes that, then the law is an ass! If the law supposes that, then the law is a bachelor." Does Mr. Bumble say that in the original book or is that dialogue a more recent creation? :)

atozynco he does indeed say that, or something very close to it, in the original book (obviously 'ass' means donkey in this context)
