In 3 short minutes, this ol simple country boy, brought the world together better than any stupid politician has. This guy, his 3 dogs, an old trailer with a tarp and his deer stand, a few verses of truth and BAM!! God bless this man and protect him from the evil elite's.

This song has hit harder than anything lately. Oliver's voice hits every single one of us. This is our song to get our country along. Forget the race spit, forget the methods to divide us. We are one people. And we stand TOgether...

Two weeks ago Oliver was in the woods unknown singing to the world, then this, 27M views in 11 days. The lyrics touch us because we know it's truth. The resonator guitar touches us because it harkens back to a simpler time. His voice touches us because it has passion and a cry in his powerful voice that we feel in our hearts. He is touching the heart of the world wherever an incompetent corrupt conflict creating government and greedy corporations abuse and steal from the people. That's everywhere today. Lord, it's a damn shame.

To "awaken", taken from the book of revelation, Christ prophecizes his betrayal, crucification, when speaking with his apostles, "The spirit is strong, but the flesh is weak". Christ then says, he will "Awaken" after his death and all will be revealed. The continuation of the chapters of Mark and Luke into the book of revelation is the truth of Christ's "awakening" and rebirth, as his tomb was found empty completing his divine words to his flock foretold to his disciples.

Yes!! 🇺🇸💸🙌🏼 I live in a rural town [surrounded by popcorn, soybean fields] and I’m a big country music lover, always have been. I’ve never heard anything so meaningful, anything so powerful or anyone pour their heart and soul out like this man. This video is a blue collar worker (no video production/editing) who shows his real, raw emotions and he’s fed up. He’s done with the bullshit that we all see but no one has the balls to say. He’s dealt with a lot of mental issues in the past and still has to deal with so much pain. Turning down $8M in offers from record labels. He is spittin facts and THIS… THIS is “woke” talk, an actual great awakening. He opens his small town performances (went from singing in front of 20 people to literally thousands) with verses from the Bible and everyone is listening. He’s the exact light that this dark world needs and holds a glimmer of hope. I pray that this changes us in a positive way and let’s us ALL come together as one. This man needs protected at all costs. Preach it brother.

This isn’t country, it’s more like folk/mountain music Message from Oliver Anthony: It's been difficult as I browse through the 50,000+ messages and emails I've received in the last week. The stories that have been shared paint a brutally honest picture. Suicide, addiction, unemployment, anxiety and depression, hopelessness and the list goes on. Im sitting in such a weird place in my life right now. I never wanted to be a full time musician, much less sit at the top of the iTunes charts. Draven from RadioWv and I filmed these tunes on my land with the hope that it may hit 300k views. I still don't quite believe what has went on since we uploaded that. It's just strange to me. People in the music industry give me blank stares when I brush off 8 million dollar offers. I don't want 6 tour buses, 15 tractor trailers and a jet. I don't want to play stadium shows, I don't want to be in the spotlight. I wrote the music I wrote because I was suffering with mental health and depression. These songs have connected with millions of people on such a deep level because they're being sung by someone feeling the words in the very moment they were being sung. No editing, no agent, no bullshit. Just some idiot and his guitar. The style of music that we should have never gotten away from in the first place. So that being said, I have never taken the time to tell you who I actually am. Here's a formal introduction: My legal name is Christopher Anthony Lunsford. My grandfather was Oliver Anthony, and "Oliver Anthony Music" is a dedication not only to him, but 1930's Appalachia where he was born and raised. Dirt floors, seven kids, hard times. At this point, I'll gladly go by Oliver because everyone knows me as such. But my friends and family still call me Chris. You can decide for yourself, either is fine. In 2010, I dropped out of high school at age 17. I have a GED from Spruce Pine, NC. I worked multiple plant jobs in Western NC, my last being at the paper mill in McDowell county. I worked 3rd shift, 6 days a week for $14.50 an hour in a living hell. In 2013, I had a bad fall at work and fractured my skull. It forced me to move back home to Virginia. Due to complications from the injury, it took me 6 months or so before I could work again. From 2014 until just a few days ago, I've worked outside sales in the industrial manufacturing world. My job has taken me all over Virginia and into the Carolinas, getting to know tens of thousands of other blue collar workers on job sites and in factories. Ive spent all day, everyday, for the last 10 years hearing the same story. People are SO damn tired of being neglected, divided and manipulated. In 2019, I paid $97,500 for the property and still owe about $60,000 on it. I am living in a 27' camper with a tarp on the roof that I got off of craigslist for $750. There's nothing special about me. I'm not a good musician, I'm not a very good person. I've spent the last 5 years struggling with mental health and using alcohol to drown it. I am sad to see the world in the state it's in, with everyone fighting with each other. I have spent many nights feeling hopeless, that the greatest country on Earth is quickly fading away. That being said, I HATE the way the Internet has divided all of us. The Internet is a parasite, that infects the minds of humans and has their way with them. Hours wasted, goals forgotten, loved ones sitting in houses with each other distracted all day by technology made by the hands of other poor souls in sweat shops in a foreign land. When is enough, enough? When are we going to fight for what is right again? MILLIONS have died protecting the liberties we have. Freedom of speech is such a precious gift. Never in world history has the world had the freedom it currently does. Don't let them take it away from you. Just like those once wandering in the desert, we have lost our way from God and have let false idols distract us and divide us. It's a damn shame.

Hey dudes! First time on your channel. This song embodies the sense of isolation men feel in this world. It’s a world where if you’re male, you’re looked upon as toxic. It’s a world Where 80% of married women file for divorce, and thanks to social media, they truly believe they have to put little effort into relationships. A world where you work your ass of just to survive. It’s a world where you can be “canceled” Oliver is a prophetic voice calling out from the wilderness

That’s the first time I read that that was what somebody took from it. But I guess what we see and hear in this song is kinda personal to each of us. I heard in it that the average hard working man or woman is paid way less than we deserve because of the corruption in DC. Some high placed people have more (perverted) interrest in minors on an island like Epsteins island than helping out hardworking miners. I heard he also feels the system is abused from the bottom up too. I heard nothing about men being viewed as toxic and heard nothing about divorces. I do get where you are coming from when you say you feel that way though. May you be well 🍀

The part about young men putting themselves six feet under because this damn country keeps kicking them down, could refer to America’s drug problem where people overdose and die. It could refer to the deaths of despair. The despair a lot of men feel when their job or plant has been moved to a foreign country and now they are unemployed. The lack of job opportunities available to young men who cannot afford to go to college. Even when they do find a job, they cannot afford to even live on their own. Many young men feel left out and decide to check out. The idea that all you have to do is work hard to make it is no longer true! And the sad part is that our leaders don’t care to do anything about it, so we are all stuck fighting over the crumbs they have left us. Time for another March on Washington!

May I ask how you came to the conclusion that is talking about men and their isolation and women divorcing so easily? I'm a little confused because I never once heard any of that. It's a very interesting take on it but he's talking about the northmen of Richmond which is Washington DC, and the Congress and politicians. He's talking about how they are taxing us so much that we basically don't even see half of our paycheck holiday want to control what we think and what we do. He's talkin about having to learn to live in this world that has changed so much but having like an old soul, like people that their views are still would be in line with the 1920s, 30s, 40s, 50s. And then when you said he wish the politicians would look out for minors and not just minors on an island somewhere, you was talkin about Epstein's Island. He was saying I wish I politicians would care about the miners on our home and everywhere else the ones that are getting trafficked the ones that are being abused. And then it came to welfare and food stamps. He's saying our taxes shouldn't pay for them buying unnecessary food like fudge & other similar types of food. The only part where it may have been pointed specifically to men was when he said young men are putting themselves 6 ft in the ground cuz all our country does is keeps kicking them down. So it could be maybe leaning more to men than women but I still think that it was for overall the hard working people. It's the women doing the divorce easily and not taking any responsibility that I'm confused about. What part of the song did you get that just curious

He went from playing to a group of less than 50 people to a crowd of 5 to 10 thousand. He speaks for the majority of people in this country. First time on your channel great reaction. This is Appalachian folk/bluegrass more than country - all these types of songs talk about the real problems and was especially popular way back in the day in coal mining towns where there was little hope and people were literally being worked to death. Haven’t heard someone sing this style with so much conviction since I was very little - both of my grandfathers were miners so I know it well.

This is what country music used to be like. Good, honest singers talking about their problems with their life and the world, singing their heart out. It's literally been decades since country music has been good. G.O.D. bless this man for such a beautiful song, and G.O.D bless you guys as well. Be good...

Nice reaction guys. He’s not signed. He turned down an $8,000,000 label deal this week. If he was signed he’d never be allowed to put this type of music out. I think this is a unifying & anthem for all of us out here who don’t like what we see going on and just want to work, come home, our families to be safe, to be able to provide for them and to be left the hell alone by the government.

I’ve never been a country or bluegrass music fan, but this guy has turned it around for me. Growing up in the hills of Ky my father loved bluegrass and country, so although I haven’t been a fan I have heard enough to answer your question about the genres of music speaking out about the affairs of politics and world affairs has always been their subjects when they’re not singing about their woman or man leaving them for another ,their dog dying, drinking and partying. Not bad things to sing about I don’t reckon’ I’ve just always loved rock’n’roll, blues and jazz better. I enjoyed your video and I hope you keep listening to this young man. It seems the words to his songs are what most people are thinking and feeling. You guys have gained a new follower. Lol. A 64 yr old hillbilly gal. ❤

This is part of his statement.....

He has a fb page thats public. He wrote his life story 3 days ago on there. He turned down every record label thats been offered to him. One was 8 mil. He doesnt want fame and he wont work for those big corporations or companies. He is 30 days sober now. 30 days ago he prayed to god for help. And then he quit drinking and put it all in his music. He saud he doesnt want to be a big muscicuan. He wants to inspire and help heal the people who are suffering. One of his other songs on youtube called "ive gotta get sober," was so heavy. It ripped my heart out. Prob the most intense song ive ever heard. Its just hom sitting in the woods w his guitar and recording w his phone. You can tell he was maybe unhealthy and maybe he was at a crossroad. He was just spitting facts about his addictions. But the song is so haunting. That song was written right before this richmond song. I def think you can feel his emotions singing. Its so strange to watch all these reaction videos. Every person is instantly still, like they are pulled in, a trance. And peoppe are releasing a lot of pent up emotions. Its like this song gave every person the courage and strength to just let it all out. This was what we needed. That spark. That was a war cry for america. And frankly, the world.

It's funny that hip hop music, bluegrass music, and non-corporate country music all tackle a lot of the same themes. Which, to me, is further proof that people are people, we all want what we want, we want to live our lives as we see fit, and none of us, no matter what our heritage, wants to be controlled by somebody else. Thanks for reacting to this one.
