For me the I5R is an amazing EDC flashlight.

False, the Olight uses all types of AA batteries. The only battery that should not be used is the 3.7v 14500. I have both, and I’ve gone back and forth. In the end the Olight is a better engineered light.

Olight really is better. I have i5r in high cri and the beam is simply amazing for up close tasks. The pokelit aa - gray ,with 1000 lumen on turbo and 600 on high, is like a mini tactical light. In lower modes is a bit greenish though.

Hi just a few points of correction: I have had an i5r for some time and regarding batteries, it works with the proprietary battery supplied, plus it can use all standard aa batteries,.NiMh, Lithium and Alkaline. It's actually shown in the manual that these are compatible batteries. I have used all 3 without any issues. The only non recommended battery is 3.7v lithium-ion.

Oh wow. Thanks so much, Graham! I wasn't sure what it meant in the manual when it named those batteries as being ok, but then also said underneath that non-compatible batteries would damage the light. Hence not wanting to risk it. Thank you for the correction mate!

I think you have made a mistake on the runtimes and output regarding the pokelit AA. You compared the olight using its priority 2.4v lithium battery to the pokelit alkaline 1.5v runtimes and outputs. The pokelit whilst using the supplied 3.7v lithium battery outputs the follwing: Low mode: 5 lumens (which is why on your video you mention it looks more than 0.5 lumens) Medium mode: 190 lumens for 2 hours High mode: 550 lumens for 35s then 330 lumens for 1hour and 1 minute. So the pokelit wins on overall output power but has lower runtimes than the I5R because if this and of course the smaller battery capacity.

Yeah, I thought there was something off about the .5 lumen output. It looked way too bright. This is weird because these are the specs I got off the Acebeam website. Where did you get your specs? Unless they have updated the website, it should still be there as I explained it. But you are definitely right!! Thanks man

I can't knock either of the two. You did a great demo comparison. Like you, I do want enough flood but my 'focus' is big time on candela. I'd likely go then with the Acebeam and I do like that it takes various batteries too. Again, bravo to both manufacturers. All being said, for the money and size, I like my Weltool T1 Pro the best.

Unlike my aluminum Pokelit, my copper one always starts in low mode. And it also has a more rounded focused beam, but it is a lot heavier. I unscrewed the tail cap on mine (It unscrews in reverse direction) and carefully stretched the button spring to give it more resistance to reduce the chance of accidental activation.

I like my i5r titanium. It works great, but the button is too easy to activate. I’ve had it come on in my pocket a couple of times. Therefore I either carry my Pokelit or my Microstream. Plus the Pokelite has the best retention pocket clip that I’ve seen on any aa light. It stays put in my pocket when I’m loading and installing medical equipment at my job.

Acebeams button sounds hallow and plasticky, olight switch sounds tanky and premium, love my i5r regal blue and i compare it to my lumintop d1 in medium mode wich is 600 lumens and i can say that they are the same to my eyes just a tad bit brighter on the lumintop but not that noticeable
