Old wet tyres VS New wet tyres - Holden Commodore - Brands Hatch

If you’ve seen my onboard from Silverstone a few weeks ago you’ll know that we struggled with grip from the OLD wet tyres we had for the car.
Fast forward to Brands Hatch and R1 was much the same. After years of my moaning about needing new tyres and with the help of a kind friend, my dad finally caved and bought a very expensive set of brand spanking new wets.
7 seconds around Brands Indy was the result.
Going from a 1.03.7 on the old wets, unable to use full power and no grip front or rear, to a 56.4 on the new wets! 🤯

Why the little tap on the brakes, before the actual braking?

The difference in grip on turn 2 in particular is ridiculous

They were new to us in 2017, we got them dirt cheap brand new but they’d been sat in a warehouse for 5+ years too… so we’re talking old old

Two gear changes per lap?? Try find some footage of Peter Brock in a Commodore at Mount Panorama, on slicks in the wet!! It's magic to watch.
