It's so old and works so well. I just bought one with WECP station, All brand new old stock. Perfect. And I much prefer this to the new ones. Kind regards.

I can say that this soldering iron is a gem and I don't understand why they don't use them.I have a *Weller TCP 12*/12v,35W / and I don't even know how old it is but after trying it I threw all modern electronic junk/soldering irons/ in the bin.

That’s incredible! Honestly, I never thought about what was going on in mine, I just knew that it has been very reliable. Until last week….. the wires going to the low voltage connector (the three wires) finally broke. I trimmed, and Re soldered, and hopefully, it will be good for another 49 years……

I got one of these irons in 1985. I got too much flux burnt on at the end and I tried to remove the tip but the nut got jammed so it was no good. I bought another (iron only). I had to Rewire the transformer As their new iron had an Earth wire. I never even wondered how these worked. I thought the number stamped on the tip was just the type of head. It’s always been my best and most used iron.

This is so cool! It's almost like it's making a PWM signal by repeatidly blowing a fuse.

Great video sir I was wondering where to look for I bought a used Weller DS600 Desoldering Station and I’ve it setting on my bench for months until today I took it apart and I don’t see any movement on the relay that’s why the tip is not heating vacuum works great still by the push of the button. Thank you for taking the time to make this video that’ll walk me true to fix it

I still have one of these irons - fantastics things. Mine has finally died after about 30 years of constant use only because the threaded collar that holds the tip in has corroded through and it isn’t possible to get a replacement :(

the thiknes of the iron dictates the temp ..the thiker the iron longer stays magnetizet to the switch and this way heats up more
