As they say in a documentary I saw, this type of music resonates with certain people and I don't know about you, but jungle/dnb soothes my soul and gets me moving like no other
been playing this mix at least monthly for about eight years now. takes me straight back to ringin numbers on payphones to get the warehouse location; the anticipation, smiling, laughing, vibing with peeps on the tube yd never met before sharing a wavelength. the pirate stations, MCs easing things down next morning in a Camden or Tooting loungeroom with new compadres from the night before: magic time London early 90s. huge appreciation for this thank you
This takes me back. Cape Town 1995...first time I heard jungle drum & base was in a special jungle room inside a club. It was off the hook and I was hooked. The good old days.

Big respect and admiration for those who have been doing Jungle music since the early 90's. I'm into metal. mostly underground death metal and grind. Always loved old skool Jungle, fell upon it on a pirate radio station in the 90's. Small hours driving like a nutter with it blasting at top volume. Awesome. Respect.
Born in England listening jungle since 1990
Greetings from Berlin ❤ I will never forget the electro-music clubs back in the 90's. Nostalgia. I am so thankful that I was part of this time. These memories are irreplaceable.
jungle massive old school those days but never forgotten..love this shit
found this mix recently, thanks so much for posting! i'm new to the genre but i love it (also, it's so cool to read comments from seven, eight, nine, nearly ten years ago all loving the same music... it's like we're all in the same room together, in a way.)

I don't know much about the technical shit but I'm a Scot who ended up in Kent in 93 & went to world dance & the beats just took me away to another dimension & it's never stopped love it to the day I die ,music has & will be always hood for the Soul ,😁
que nunca muera ni se pierda este estilo de música que a pesar de no ser comercial ha llegado a muchas partes haciendo bailar y disfrutar de muy buenos momentos.

hello I am a 16 year old teenager and for the first time I tried to do jungle. Could you give your opinion in the comments if you liked my video please? :D Thank you! (PS: this is not an ad but simply an opinion of people who share the same passion as me)
I'm an original junglist, I went raving at Bagleys, linford studios in battersea and labyrinth etc. The 90's was a care free drug fuelled time growing up as a teenager. I'm in my 40's now, it would probably kill me if I done all that now LOL :-) I still love listening to the tunes though
Oh my f*kin god. Lord a mercy, bad boy mix I forgot that music made sense. Blazeitdown thanks for the memories from before the millennium, I'm 30 again. Seriously best old skool mix I heard yet and only 10 mins in. Junglist massive keep it reel . Go on.
all those who grew up in the day remember these tunes with love and a lil bit of pink champagne. bring back Helter skelter and dreamscape. ☮️
This must’ve been a major influence on the soundtracks of flash games.

Exciting with volume up, relaxing with volume down
Jungle is not a subgenre of dnb. The name 'jungle' was given to a new sound of breakbeat reminiscent of acid house, but with with complex amen rinses, heavy bass and often ragga vocals (if you talked to the ragga twins about the origins of jungle they'd say it began with the fusion of reggae and acid house - which is at least partly true). Drum and bass was created as a reaction to jungle in the mid-90s. Much as I wish to avoid racialising this history, in this case it wouldn't be unfair to say that dnb (in part) was a way of taking the 'colour' out of jungle. It was certainly a more 'friendly' and commercial sound that could be more easily packaged for mainstream consumption.
@MidKnightKid98

Pretty much nailed it. I hate dnb as it sounds much newer and doesn't have those sonar/signal like chirps, and outer space, or jungle feel that jungle has.

I was around for all of it, so I'm not an armchair critic. I was born in London, but I grew up in America, still, I was in London in '91 (for hardcore at The Astoria), and then back again for the Christmas of '93 into '94, and I always felt that what turned into D'n'B, by the late '90's, was the MOST shamefully gentrified music I've ever heard to this day! To reduce artfully spliced and chopped breaks to a stupid 2-Step loop, to remove multiple sub-basslines in favor of watercolor synth washes, to turn it all back into safe techno was not by mistake, it was by design. I remember "DJ Magazine" falling over itself at the time, praising 2-step as a style that was SO much easier to dance to(!)...so, yes, I think it was racial, and I think Dumb'n'Bass is what we inherited as a HUGE loss to this day. Watching the less exciting Dubstep follow the exact same pattern as Jungle was not quite as surprising, or as sad. C'mon England, we NEED you to hold court!!! Stop selling out to placating dnb schemes.

Nice to listen to the Classics....Great !
i can testify several times over how amazing jungle is on acid, it really took you to another dimension, totally amazing. on a side note, jungle was first, then garage, then your 2 step or modern dnb which although is good, is no patch on jungle itself. any type of jungle or d n b is worth supporting, i blare old jungle mixes from my car and people are like wtf? most folk say its not music, but for me its the best, there not clever enough to understand........
Never really listened heavily to jungle. Was kind of introduced to D&B by Toonami, and always liked it, but never pursued it. To me it's just like one of those genres that's a great standby - that you can't go wrong with. Doesn't blow my head off, but has never actually managed to disappoint me.
