Old Scandinavian Hunting Knife Restoration
Old rusty Scandinavian hunting knife restoration. In this video, I showed the restoration of an antique ethnic Scandinavian knife. This is a handmade knife. I liked this rusty hunting knife and decided to restore it. I removed the rust, restored the grip and scabbard. I hope you liked my restoration.

Great job restoring a beautiful old knife, plus that is the cutest anvil I’ve ever seen
Again really impressive. Amazing patience.
The inlay on the handle is a lovely touch.

I like Scandinavian Hunting Knife!🥰😍
Great job!
Beautiful knife and you did a wonderful job restoring it as well!!!! I enjoyed your video so I gave it a Thumbs Up
No… I don’t like it… I LOVE it!!!! What an awesome restoration!!! Perhaps you can make a “frog” to allow the knife to be carried on a belt. Your skill at determining how the knife will turn out is amazing! You brought this knife up 3 levels and made it even more beautiful! Well done sir!!! The Old Army Scout… thanks for sharing your vision with us!

You had me worried with the wire wheel, but it turned out really good.
super work
I always enjoy the pitted blades. On the blades what is the grit grade of the sandpaper when you start?

They look like runes .... ancient nordic letters. There are online translators. Great restoration 😊

Laplander made most probably judging by engraving. The metal on the grip should be pewter. Pewter had strong magic according to Laplander lore.
Very nicely done sir and yes I do like it 🐊🐊😊
The symbols say: 1811 Those pewter inlays where common on older knives, pre 1900s.

And if you read it the other way up, it says 1791 :)
I'd like to say that it was a very good restoration. Moreover it would be nice to see you sandblasting the iron when it's needed 😊
Looks like it's a Finnish puukko. A common Lapland hunting and utility knife. One was also issued to Finnish soldiers. The symbols on the blade looked like "17817" (maybe?) which could be a serial number. Too bad about the delamination of the blade, but I suspect it's not now going to get the hefty use it was originally intended for. It's a very nice restoration.
Very good job 👍👍👍
👍👍👍🔥
My Norwegian grandfather had a knife very similar to that one
Dope AF results, @ReXtorer!
What did you use for cleaning the leather sheath?
You should have added a long leather lanyard to the sheath so that it could once again be worn around the neck. You can see where a lanyard had been attached to the sheath some time in the past.
Very well done ! Congrats. Btw.... what was the milky creme at the beginning ? (For the leather). Thx for answering.😊
@ReXtorer

This is a creme for leather. After this creme, leather become more elastic.
Excellent work. Would it have been a bad idea to put that hard sodder into the split on the spine to even it out?
you should have welded that hole in the blade.
Restaurada faca de caçador 🔪😉
It is definitely a Scandi Grind on the knife, and overall shape looks similar to Swedish/Norwegian knives, with barrel-shaped handle. It is recommended to sharpen Scandi on a stone and let the grind keep the angle. Looks like you made it a bit convex, not a true straight zero-edge Scandi, which is actually OK and even preferred by some people. Anyway, good work on this one!

I love this flaw in the forging of the blade
Where did you get these artifacts?
👍👍👍💪
It is a beautiful knife. Your movie is simple directing form function. Home shop type tools good work done well simply. I would have filled the spine of the knife. You are good with metal a fill of some patch file it down. You get the sub, I translated the Nordic Runes on the end cap for you . They mean........................".pass the reindeer jerky "
Fra-gee-lay....must be Italian!
Symbols look like 1781

That sheath would originaly have had a hat on it covering the whole knife, you can see the slits on the side of the sheath where strings would have gone to the hat. If you google fäbokniv or hattslida you will see what i mean..
@ReXtorer

@ReXtorer
I dont think they are symbols it looks like it says 1781 or maybe 1791
Could it have been anything else?
Those symbols are numbers 1791 and some scratches.
Unsure why you call this scandi, it is not really that familiar to me as a person who lives in arctic sweden and collects knives

Hi! This knife is from Sweden
They look like runes on the butt/handle. I tried using vinegar to remove rust but it tasted funny after.🤗
If you can grind the blade with file, such a knife doesn't worth repairing.

Why didn't you fix what looks like a delamination on the spine? It's just my taste but I despise epoxy filled handles.

I think it’s not right! Completely destroy the spirit of the story! There was a good stabbing knife! This one had to be sharpened and rubbed. It lost its historical value. Make a copy of the new if

I have to say everything looks great until you started putting indents into the blade which were not their before there for was not required ,it’s called restoration if their were round indents on the blade then it makes sense to add indents after making the blade look all new but their were no round indents their for you added something new to the blade which is not part of the restoration their for I have to say bad job 👎🏻. I made sure to rewatch to video to see any indents on the blade before you started restoring it and their were none round indents
I pee in the shower sometimes
If you had a shop, I'd be a customer.
