Old Saurer Trucks: Swiss Industrial History on Wheels - 37th Saurer Meet Sursee

Автокөліктер мен көлік құралдары

Loads of old Saurer and Berna trucks are pouring in for the 37th Saurer Classic Truck Meet in Sursee, Switzerland - a wonderful variety of colors, models and truck superstructures from various decades!
Swiss industrial history is intertwined too with the name of Saurer: The Saurer AG, formerly Adolph Saurer AG, is a Swiss manufacturer of textile machinery and vehicle transmissions founded in 1853 and based in Arbon. Between the 1920s and 1980s, Saurer was primarily known for the production of commercial vehicles, in particular trucks, buses, trolleybuses and military vehicles. In a relatively short time, Saurer advanced to become a world-renowned vehicle manufacturer thanks to various innovations.
In 1929, Saurer became the majority partner of Berna, Switzerland's second major commercial vehicle manufacturer, although from the 1970s onwards the two brands offered largely identical vehicles that could practically only be distinguished by their names.
From the 1930s onwards, Saurer was the most important manufacturer of medium and heavy-duty trucks in Switzerland, so that they were still present on Swiss roads in all possible variations until the 1990s. The last civilian Saurer was delivered in 1983, and the Swiss Army received its last Saurer 10DM in 1987.
Even today, Saurer and Berna commercial vehicles still have a large and passionate following.
